  1. Holly has knock sensor input and voltage compensation... Ok ill shut up now Dan
  2. quote Hmmm... I thought I did Let me clairify one thing, when I said that the software was "stupid easy" I was not saying that it was not powerfull. There are a lot of features... alot of them, it's just there software is very straight forword and allmost seamless. Example, timeing control, very percise I mean, do you really need to control timing to 1/10th of a deg? Well you can if you want to. Example, I set mine up to run closed loop at idle, with IAC control and idle spark control...smooth as kitten man, it's great. Below is some of the options you can configure, I just cut and pasted them so people can compare. Acceleration Enrichment Pulse Width—Rate of Change of TPS AE Correction vs. Coolant Temperature AE Correction vs. TPS (%) Rate of Change of MAP Sensor Enrichment Decay Rate (Crank Triggers) AE of Map vs. Coolant Temperature (%) IAC Parked position Minimum IAC Position Max. TPS for Closed Loop Operation Minimum engine temp for Closed Loop Operation O2 Compensation Step Size Seconds between O2 Compensation Step changes Cold Start Delay to Enter Closed Loop Hot Start Delay to Enter Closed Loop RPM to Enter Closed Loop RPM to Return to Open Loop Afterstart Enrichment Afterstart Holdoff Afterstart Decay Rate Ok, ok thats enough pasting, there is still much more but I think you get the idea. quote I got mine from Summit Racing, the part number I needed was 950-101 for TPI. They do not list it on there webb site or catalog yet but do have them in stock. Mike, call me later if you want to talk about it. Dan
  3. Ok, here is how I came to the conclusion that the Holley system was what I wanted. I got in touch with a tech guy for Holley that hangs out in a different forum and had a little chat with him. Yes, there are 2 systems. Pro-Jection system is the old one and he admitted that it is a piece of junk, slow cpu limited tuning options etc. Commander 950 is the new one and I light years ahead of the Pro-Jection. I was running the stock GM ECU and was running into problems with idle (stalling) and WOT. Come to find out that I needed to add VSS input to the CPU otherwise it was always going to run like crap at speed. Also my stock ECU was setup for a Auto trans and was not the best way to go if you have a stick. Option 1: Get a new ROM burned, hope it works the first time(not likely) and pay about $200 to $400 to have it done. Option 2: Get a EPROM burner and learn to do it myself, assembly language…. YUK! And lots of trial and error… no way. Option 3: Accell DFI, plug in replacement for the stock tpi including wiring harness. You guys seen the price of Ver 7 ECU and software… like $1300… ummm ok, ill have to think about it. Option 4: Holley Commander 950, They have retro fit kit like the Accell setup for my TPI, cost $750 with wiring harness etc…. hmmmm….. sounding good. One option that some of the other ECUs have that I would like was the wide-band O2 sensor so I e-mailed Holley and asked if this was a option or would it be in the future, they said “… it is not a option at this time.” Hmmm… what does that mean? Considering what it costs to add that to other systems it was not a big factor in deciding what to go with. Next I went to Holley’s site and downloaded the Commander 950 Tuning Manual. It pretty much told me everything I needed to know and I would suggest anyone who is considering it to do the same. Not comparing it to any other system, I liked what I saw and it seemed that there were lot’s of tune ability with this system. The manual has a very methodical step-by-step tuning section that pretty much convinced me that the Commander was the way to go for me. It took me a day to remove my old ECU/harness and install the new one, the next day I went thru the tuning manual step-by-step and was very, very pleased with the results. I can go out to the garage right now after the car has been sitting all night, reach in and hit the starter and it will fire right up and go to a smooth, stable idle all the way thru warm up. The car pulls real strong now and the power is so much smoother and more responsive. The software is stupid easy to use. What else can I say, im very happy and glad I went with it. Feel free to ask any questions you have guys, im all ears. Dan
  4. Well, It just so happens that I purchased last week the Holley Commander 950 to replace the stock ECM for my TPI. So far I very impressed, easy to tune and alot of options including data logging. The base map that came with the ECM was real close to what I needed and after about 2 hrs of tunning iv'e got my car running great (still need to work on WOT a little) and im very happy with it. And the price was real nice too I also made a nice background image for my portable, red with white letters that says 'Danger to manifold" Dan
  5. As Pete said. I had the JCI kit. Do yourself a favor, go JTR. You will not regret it like I did. Dan

  7. Here is a temp link to the article. http://www.hybridz.org/TechA/0001/Painless%20Wiring%20HC.htm Ill add it as soon as I can find a few spare hours in the day. Dan
  8. Im useing a stock 280z FP with my TPI and it works great. My enigne is a very mild less than 300hp 5.7 Very quiet little pump with the stock mount. Dan

  10. Thanks Guys, It's hard to tell from the pic because of low light but the color is really a dark grey metalic, much lighter than it looks. It came out better than I thought it would and im happy to see that the body work I did was not to bad. Thanks! Dan
  11. Check it out here: http://www.hybridz.org/P0001005.JPG It's a big pic so be paitent. Dan
  12. Pete, Could you give a little more detail on the bracket you made for the AC compressor? My compressor needs to mount on the drivers side like yours. I understand from my research that Sedan (sp?) compressor mounts like a alterantor bracket. Do you have any drawings of it? That is my only hangup right now is how to mount it low and tight Thanks!

This one is good too. http://www.geocities.com/z_design_studio/
  14. Dude, If you can score that engine for $1700.00 shipped go for it. If I had the money I would do it in a heart beat. Back in March I was looking for one, and in California it's hard to find and when you do it's like $2000 to $2200. Just my .02 cents. Dan
  15. Go with the setup that Mike SCCA is selling, it's a great kit and I just finished my install and im very pleased with it. Dan
  16. Mike, Im interested in the one piece front end with integrated G-nose and front spoiler.
  17. Could be starter heat soak, I had the same problem in my Z when it was hot. Installed a Summit remote solinode and the problems went away. Dan
  18. I thought I remember reading somewhere that the big problem with the Al SBC blocks was that they sufferd from core shift really bad and were pretty much toast after about 10k miles of street use. Dan
  19. Reversed E and F works. How about: E = Excellent F = F@%&ed Dan
  20. Thanks Pete, I guess I should learn how to use the search function of this forum Terry, I agree!
  21. Pete, Can you give some information about your AC setup. What under dash unit did you use, compressor etc? Problems, how did it fit under the dash. Thanks Dan
