I thought I hade a catostrophic failure
GRUMPZ replied to HICKL's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
My builder insisted on 7/16 studs . 3/8's are not strong enough and will break even if everything else is right. -
Those might work. Did you have them installed?I want engine set back and the angle those come down looks good. how far away from heads are the collecters? Thanks for any help.
-
these are schoenfeld with the 90 degree colecters cut short where they join the headers .1 3/4 primaries 28" long with 3 1/2 9" collecters with evac tubes welded in . Wnen short turndowns were added collecters became 16".Bear in mind I am running small skinnies with cross member forward 1"

Thanks LAZYCAT .I am trying to have a collecter that angles more than 45 degrees . This is my shcoenfeld setup with no tire rub with my new tires but I want alittle more setback. (2")

Chevy 302 build for my z32 w/th400
GRUMPZ replied to Firion__13's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
I agree that the AFR are the best bang for your buck. My 210's I bought with AFR scorpion roller rockers 1.6 and stud girdle on 7/16 studs have no apparent float at 7800 rpm. I would have loved to afforded a T&D or jesel. AFR also sells matched intakes..IMO a matched topend combo from one company is your best bet unless you choose a crappy company of course.. Good luck on your 302 I understand what you want and why. Hell, I should built a Camaro drag car That I could fit in easily, find bolt on parts cheap and been like everyone else.....but no, I am a hybrid Z kind of guy. -
I would like a used /reasonable stock or 2" cowl fiberglass hood. I live in Fl. I will be pinning this hood on . Thank you. I check messages in the eve's.

If I make a hard turn and bottom out the shocks they will hit. I will only go straight I hope.I plan on smaller front drag tires tires when budget allows. There is room for 1.5" setback which would give clearence but thats where I wanted the engine.

After long planning I finally got engine/trans in. Front and mid plate with shoenfeld 1 3/4 1 7/8 headers , powerglide and a dana 60. I mounted Everything so nothing hung below the front crossmember. I did stretch the wheelbase to 96".

thanks for trying

What is your impression on the dittmer intake for a 383 11.5:1 race gas ,solid roller, afr 210 race headed motor running the 4000-7000 rpm range drag only? I am trying to compare to a super victor. I know an adaptor is needed for my 850 holley and throttle response and high velocity is desired.Mid range torque should be simular ,I just don't want to loose top end. I have searched but found no testing results Thanks for input...Rick

grumpy.I know this is a V-8 forum and I am putting in a 383,pg and dana 60with 8.8 housing ends. If its not to much trouble can you point me in the direction of a manual (no powerbooster)brake mastercylinder that will work with 78 280 front disk and ford 8.8 rear drum brake. This is a drag only car and would like the room and not having to depend on vacuum.I think I have read all of related info on this site and done many searchs to no avail. thanks

I ran a high 13 with a 1986 305 with a mild cam and carbed. Easy to work on and easy to swap;engine, trans, performance parts etc. 302,327,350,383,400,pg,th350,th400, t-5 etc.. so many easy combo's that traction should be your concern.Remember. KISS (keep it simple s....)

Accel and MSD make HEI upgrades that will easily handle 7000rpms at a fraction of the cast for a new system .around $100 and 30 min install.I used accel and had no issues and it allowed me to buy better valve springs with the savings.

Rear Lifting, wobble shudder? 1973 240z
GRUMPZ replied to JSM's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
when i removed the rear suspension i found areas where the bushings were had been "wobbled out". my personal opinion is a bad diff mount.I think I have all new bushings but I cut up the diff. mount and made a solid one. sold the diff but your welcome to first on any of the other stuff.I went to a solid axle. -
