So just a little update. the car is very close to having a drive shaft and firing up. I'll keep you posted when that happens but for now I have found a Yoke from Spicer. The number is SDH-2-3-15871X and they're 77.97 from Summit and it fits the CD009 perfect.

I did not get the collins clutch. I ordered a custom Mcleod Clutch through Summit Racing. It has the center spline for the cd009 and a 11" disc for the LS. I actually ordered a package so I got pressure plate, disc, flywheel, bolts, pilot and throwout bearing. I believe I spoke with Lee at Mcleod to give him the specs and set up the order. After that I called Summit and explained to the sales person I talk to Mcleod and need to order MCL-Custom. I also ordered a Dorman slave cycinder for a 4th gen F body, the Russel fittiing to convert the slave from a special fitting to -3an inlet, and also ran an line out of the bell housing for a remote bleeder and for the master cyl. Hope this helps! We added to the family so I havent to get garage time in to see how it works.

Sorry not much to update since a new addition has kept me out of the garage. A buddy of mine was able to get the shifter extension bracket shortened for me. Currently the engine is all the way back but will need to slide forward about an inch to line up perfectly with the shifter opening. Now I just need to get a car intake, turbo, manifolds modded with v bands a fuel sump.

So I got the engine in and handed my shifter bracket off to a friend that works a fab shop. He looked at the shortening services and he said that it wouldn't be a problem. Using the dirty dingo mounts I slid the engine back as far as it would go. Here are a few pics from the install and I just need to adjust the mounts a bit since the tailshaft is a few degrees off center.

Joek - What I found was the 03-04 CD001 had a syncro issue and they had several variations of that CDxxx until they got to the CD009 which was the later transmissions I believe 06+. I'll keep everyone updated and I'm thinking with such a light car and mild build I should be ok. I'm just building a street machine that I can get in and drive anywhere so traction most likely will be an issue before anything else.

No, I feel bad for hijacking post, but I wanted to share all the information I have so far. Never thought about the load point before so I'll keep an eye on it once shes going down the road! Maybe I should start my own build thread but its really not that exciting compared to some of the other amazing cars on the site!

Yea thanks, I should have just about 1200 in it including the clutch and flywheel. I can never find deals on T56's so looking at new ones that dont come with a bellhousing this is a bargain. I guess its all how lucky you are when searching forum classifieds or Craigslist.I have a 4L65 I was going to put in that I pulled from my Silverado but I had to keep the man petal.

Fro the center of the shifter hole to the bell housing face its 38". That's with the stock shifter support bracket. I think I can take 4 " out of that to make it make compact. Also I'm using the dirty dingo mounts which should help with lining things up. I got the slave modified for a remote bleeder and 3 -an main line. Hopefully I can get it sitting in the car by the end of the weekend.

Hmm, I checked the folder on flikr, everything is marked public in this album? Is there a different place to host? Are you not able to see the thumbnails at all?

Well I finally got the bell housing cut off last night and everything fit great. I'm really impressed with the quality of the adapter. The only think I had to do was take a reamer and open the dowel hole a few thousandths. I just used a cut off wheel to get rid of the original bell housing and then used a new T56 bell from american power train. All the bolts were labeled great and start to finish it only took about 1.5 hours to do the swap.. The biggest fear is the cutting part so just go slow and you'll be fine. I'm actually doing the exact same swap. I'm starting with a cammed 4.8 and CD009. If it holds I'll be adding some boost. I have already ordered and received the Collins adapter. I'm using a GPS speedometer since there is no VSS on the trans but still need to find a way to get a signal to the ECM. I guess the LS ecm can have some drive ability problems if they do not have a signal.

What displacement is the LS engine? What type of transmission, Gear ratio, stall size if auto and how do you plan on using the car?

Feeding My Addiction (turbo build)
Gus replied to Slow78z's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
This and SunnyZ's build are a wealth of knowledge. I have been following this site for a very long time and glad I found your posts. I have a 260z that Im going to drop a 4.8 with a Turbonetics turbo in starting this month. I have printed out most of the How to's and redid the brakes, suspension, gauges and interior. The wife ok'd a new garage so I get to bring my Z home from a friends place so I can really start working on it. The biggest debate I've had is about the transmission. I have a 4x4 4l70 laying around from my truck (did a 4l80 swap) that only has 28k on it. I know Ill have to swap the shaft and output housing on it but other then that its free and I have a 2800 stall. Or pony up a few grand for a TKO clutch and everything else. Do to the price the auto with a paddle shift setup from tci is sounding very appealing. On a side note I am a new welder and would like to buy one that is going to suit all my needs the first time. I see that Sunnyz bought a Miller 211 and your using a tig. Any feedback for a novice like mysef? I want to be able to put in patch panels, frame rails, weld the manifold v bands, and similar tasks. -
I didnt think of that, I'll add that to my search on craigslist and ebay. Thank you for the reply!

Hey everyone long time lurker first time posting. Little bit of background about myself. I’ve had several turbo Z31’s in the past, turbo acuras and a Turbo neon running MS. I have always wanted a S30 and finally found one and picked it up. The car came from California and is rust free which is great since everything is rusted out here in Ohio. The car is a 74 260z with a 4 speed and originally I was going to drop a 4.8 or 5.3 into it. I have a 4.8 in my truck that I have cam’d, tuned, gears and it runs REALLY good for a giant truck. I’m having a hard time finding a manual trans in a decent price range for the LS so I considered keeping the L6 in it with a turbo. I’m not trying to build a rocket but want a really fun street car that should hold its own against the majority of the modern muscle cars and the sound of a inline 6 with a turbo is pretty awesome. I’ve been searching a 400 mile radius on Craigslist and ebay for an L28et but no luck yet. From what I gather on some of the searches I would need to buy a fuel injected head and then could use the manifolds and a MS set up on my block (built of course). The L280 intake will not bolt to my L26 head due to injector bosses and bolt pattern differences, I’ve looked at just about every swap option and the RB seems pretty expensive, I really don’t want to swap in an SR since it’s only a 4 cyl. I’m looking for some opinions so I can get this project moving. Thanks for your input and once I start the process I will start a build thread.
