Its time for some changes in my Z due to a knock in the bottom end. I have made the decisions to go the LS route with a manual trans. and i am doing research and getting all my ducks in a row start spending money. I have see sights were people are putting a 350Z/370Z CD009 trans behind there LS. I did some digging and found that a adapter plat is made by Collins performance technologies . The 350z has a great shifting trans and is much cheaper then a T56 and can take abuse, but I have never seen this combo in a S30 if you have even seen this please let me know of if you can think of any pluses or minuses to this idea chime in please! Thanks Will S. cd009 with adapter CD009 CD009 CD009 T56
Sorry if this is a dumb question, I tried searching the forums but didn't find anything that really talked about this. I'm doing an RB25 swap into a 280z, so I've had the oil pan converted to a rear sump type. I then realized that the engine had these two attachments that bolt on the sides of the engine near the back for the transmission to mate with. Due to the rear sump oil pan those don't fit. It looks like there's 4 bolt holes on the engine block that would still work with the trans, not including the starter bolts. Are there modified side attachments I need to get for the trans, or do you just use the 4 bolts you can? That doesn't seem right.
I have a 280Z track car with a built L28 and a 240sx trans, it has a OS Geiken LSD (not sure the gear ratios). Id like a trans with a taller first, closer second and third and a shorter fifth than the sx trans. can I get gears for the sx trans and build it? is there a trans out there that fits the bill that will bolt in with little modification? or a lot of mods? Any guidance will be much appreciated. I'm shifting to fith at about 120mph, hp peaks at 7,300+/- rpms 357hp @ flywheel 300ftlb torque @flywheel 16" wheels with 245/45z R6's Stock gear ratio diff with OS Geiken LSD (not sure of ratio, one search says 3.54 another says 3.36) I have that SX trans in it now and if 2nd and 3rd were closer and 5th was a little shorter it would be great.
