what year did your 4:38 come out of? my 438 came out of a 82 4x4 truck and had CV joints, looks like yours has the bolt in type halfshaft like the 336 from a z. take the cover off and see if it has 35.8 stamped on it

i say no to ospho, its a sticky mess.try some on one spot and you will see , it dont go on smooth, cause your trying to cover up rust and hard to get back off. get the metal prep that you use like soap and water and wash the bare metal and let air dry, then use a paint thinner to clean it after it dries. if your at home do one section at a time

you got that belly pan thats under the car there, that covers the bottom part of the car. its sheet metal , has nice round holes in it? dam i dont know what its called , but anyway that was my problem too

this is my first post. been reading alot since june 2002 and just got my driveshaft made yesterday and im readty to put it in. i have a 77z with 350/350TH JTR book and kit and the engine and trans is in. need some measurements to get me close to where i need to be. transmission is still under the jack, no spacers between frame and body(petes page),and i dont have any spacers between trans and mount yet, and i went ahead and took out the top washer on mustache bar and didnt cut the pin yet . should my driveshaft be strait or off set in the tunnel?, how many inches is the edge of the transmission mount( JTR) from the z frame rail on say the passenger side? my dist is less than 1/2" from fire wall my driveshaft is 22.5" its been a bitch so far, i met V8440 member here, about a year ago and he got me hooked. he lives 3 miles down the road and i got to ride in his 11+sec z thanks if you can help
