Fined for being a gross polluter in a S30?
thewaiverproject replied to thewaiverproject's topic in Non Tech Board
just an update, i found some officer to sign off on the fix it ticket, but foundout that the original officer who gave it to me game me false info. I have a mandatory courtdate because he tacked on gross polluter. so i'll go to traffic court in a few days, and see whats up. When i have time, i'll do a dry and wet test, to see if i should do the valves. I've been tailed before and usually they just wanna checkout the z, but guess this guy drives a prius on his time off. -
i have attached pics. This hose connects to the block under the manifold and cylinder1. (the hose looks almost like sparkplug wire 6) It's actually directly below the thermostat. This hose comes off easily with barely a pull, but there is nothing to secure it into the engine as it retty much just loosely plugs into it. No threading. Any advise on its function and how I should secure it would be great. I THINK in high load, oil sprays out since its so loose.

Fined for being a gross polluter in a S30?
thewaiverproject replied to thewaiverproject's topic in Non Tech Board
thanks for the reply guys. great information Tony D. That helps, I was going to argue that my engine wasn't warm yet when he pulled me over, and a 40 year old car tends to smoke before warmup. But now I'm might not want to risk anything, and just pay the fix it after getting a officer to sign it. Didn't know my S30 still can get sent to the ref. I don't have anything crazy, l28et T4 SDS but all the emissions equipment are gone... -
So I was driving around in my 71 240z when a cop car started following me, I made sure I didn't do anything wrong, but i guess he saw a bit of smoke pop out of my tailpipe after i left a stop sign. pulls me over and gives me a fix it ticket for being a gross polluter with excessive exhaust smoke. I know it sometimes smokes a bit when i start from stop (burning oil) but he told me to show another officier after i fix the problem, and show him my smog certificate...... i told him my car is exempt, and he was like " oh... well just show him its not smoking anymore and pay the deduced $25 fine." I live in san francisco, california can an officier give me a ticket for being a gross polluter even though i'm smog exempt? thanks

I'm looking for the 280zx l28et or l28e Thermostat housing unit. I prefer both the upper and bottom parts, but if you just have one, that can be fine too. Let me know, the brand new set from kragen is around 50-60, so i definitely dont want to pay around or more than that for a old one shipped. let me know, thanks

how i meant kragen wheel works. so i guess they couldn't adjust the back since the stock rear does not have adjustable camber etc... they would have to shift the whole axle parallel to the vechicle, or whatever factory spec it supposed to be right? so i guess i have to take it to an autobody who specializes in suspensions.. guess its time to call around for rates.

I had my alignment done this morning since the car was pulling to the right. (s30) suspension is mostly stock - adjustable camber. I paid them 86 bucks for a 4 wheel alignment. when it was done and i paid, they told me that they only can get the front aligned, and not the back. they just said it was really misaligned and i need to go to a chassis specialist. i was late for the first day of school so i didnt think about it much and left. was there a point for them to even do the front since if i get the back aligned by a specialist, they would have to do the front again anyways? i also didn't ask why they can't fix the back, im going to call them tomorrow. but any ideas on why they cant do anything about it? the car still pulls to the right, and i know that i can drive it just fine as long as i dont floor it ( when i do the car will sometimes suddenly shift to the right or left ( while going straight) even if i white knuckle the steering wheel). so i feel that i definitely have to get it fixed. anyone have an idea of the cost as well? thanks.

Hi I just tried to install a panasonic stereo into my 71 z. This system was used in my old 72 z so the stereo harness was all cut and set by the guys from best buy. I know i hooked up the speaker lines right. all that is left is 3 lines. Yellow for the constant 12v, Red for the ignition 12v start wire, and black for the ground. I directly grounded the black wire to metal, connected the yellow wire to the car's R/B wire, and connected the red wire to at first the car's blue wire, but then I did it to the W/R wire. It didn't work either way. I used the W/R wire that was just to the left under the steering wheel column ( it went into the ignition/ turn signal stallk) because it was of the same gauge. The W/R that goes from the fusebox was very thick so i didnt mess with it. Did I create a wrong connection? any help would be great as I don't want to give up quite yet. I don't think plugging the Red wire into the cars blue wire hurt anything. when i turn on the car or even start it the stereo doesnt turn on. the stereo also has 2 av looking plugs in the back but i don't think they are needed for this 2 speaker setup. i have the haynes manuel and from what i can tell in the wiring diagram it supposed to be these wires... thanks

Hi, The link is below: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=144003 I messaged the owner, but i don't think he is active. It says it's Midnight Blue but i haven't found one like that. if its custom, any guesses of a mix that will produce something similar? seems like a blue/grey mix Thank you

WTB: 240z l28et or rb california
thewaiverproject replied to thewaiverproject's topic in Cars Wanted
thanks for the replies, that rb will need alot of electrial work I got in contact with the one you showed me ben, a fuel starvation problem shouldn't be too hard to solve if that is what it is. can i use a stock z fuel pump 240 or 280zx as a secondary for the walbro? -
Hi There's this 240z l28et with 255 walbro that im looking at, but it has a starvation problem. Idle's fine, but when driven it is rough, boggs down, running lean. It has a secondary pump ( not sure what brand) that feeds the walbro. The seller says that the pump might be bad. I was wondering if i can use the 240z or 280zx fuel pump as the secondary. i can't find the spec for thhose stock pumps, as i read that the carter pump you used is 5psi. So im wondering if i have to buy that one or some other pump. Would be easier for me to use the fuel pumps that i have around though ( the 240 and 280zx). thanks

Hi I'm looking for a 240z with a l28et. will consider other 6 bangers like an rb, but might not have the budget. doesnt hurt to try. I recently just lost my almost finished z car in an accident, so i'm starting over from scratch with a new donor car... it's going to take a while but summer is here.. However, i need something nice to get around in, and i can't bare driving anything other than a z. well and the other cars that i wont mind driving in are out of my price range. so im looking for a completed or almost completed project from a hybridz member. if you're looking to sell, i can probably get to you if you're in california. If not, shipping might be a possiblity. I don't mind finishing any projects, but would like to keep my concentration on my own. has to be 1975 or before. Prefer 240z but will take 260z Let me know, Thank you.

I drive my 72 240zxt daily to school so its manually limited to 10psi. interesting commute. since the car is naturally so loud, every kid in a car mashes it when they see me lol. i've stopped following suit a while back. now i only do so if its a car that will probably beat me. -
just don't have too much fun with the boost on your way down there!

Drifter 240z Power Steering & Steering angle
thewaiverproject replied to superduner's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
you can get any car sideways, and 240z is easy enough to drift in. I don't recommend power steering, and as for a better angle, the s30 has good enough steering for most drifts. However, i have a l28et in mine which has more power so it makes it easier for me to stay sideways, especially on a power drift. You really don't need to turn the wheels much anyways unless your doing a 180. Just get used to steering and counter steering on your car. its alot easier and cheaper to adapt to your car than for you to make it adapt to you. well, not including the suspension.
