Another goodie from ebay I got is this "100% carbon fiber shirt knob" which actually about 99% metal and heavier than the stock one.Whatever it looks cool. After looking at my decklid i decided I was tired of the horrible paint,, ugly badges, and rust bubbles. Like a kid with a scab, I just couldnt leave it alone. This ensued...

and chaos don't let this scare you I really think this is a problem specific to my car and most likely unrelated to the headlights anyways. As i said my electrical system was never really working like it should. But if you are worried about the headlights pulling too much current a bigger 280zx and maybe 280z alternator swap would be an easy way to get some peace of mind.

It appears i may have jinxed myself as last night my lights in my car all went out except for the headlights...hmm. I have never had turn signals and about 2 weeks ago the headlights went out. I went under the dash and after finding some loose connections my headlights came back but brake lights were gone along with the hazards. But last night all the driving lights, all the gauge lights , and still no brake lights. So back to the shop she goes...

Haven't checked but I haven't had any problems with them pulling too much power since I installed them.

I am looking to do the typical s13 swap and plan to use either the McKinney or Garagetastic conversion kit to make them fit.I will most likely be using the emusa coilovers but make save up the extra dough for the megans. I hope I am not being redundant but I haven't seen it specifically asked what the price woyuld be to get this done specifically. Past buying the kit and coilovers how much cash will i need to hand over the shop to weld in these pieces? (front and rear tubes/camber plates). I am told the best way to have these TIG welded but also horror stories of those welds being insufficient and breaking (which I really doubt would happen for my purposes, just a thought.) Also if anyone knows of a good welder in the San Diego area that too would be appreciated. Thanks in advance http://store.garagistic.com/ocart/Megan-s13-coilovers-for-240z-280z

Did a little work on the car today, interior is still in the works but I got in my sweet 20$ headlights that look pretty sweet IMO and much more modern look to the car. Also they're brighter and white instead of oldish yellow light. Here's the wiring that came with it but I didn't use since it just hooked right up to the stock wiring anyways Unmounted- backside of the old one-

CRAracer 76' 280z project

Really cool car to start with and with those mods would be awesome.Do you plan on keeping the EFI? Personally I would go with A tricarb setup but there's certainly many factors to consider. Also keep in mind that things won't always go as fast as you'd think...these cars tend to have some hidden secrets! -
sweet project! that paint is awesome

The rest of the sound deadening came out today and this tie I used dry ice and literally made all the difference in the world, would never try it again without dry ice.It just froze then flaked right off compared to having to pry and scrape it off piece by tiny piece. Also, discovered this.... Went camping and brought the beast to go tear up the mountains, this car really comes to life on a windy road. Interior shots- Passenger side just about ready for some paint- Before- After-

Another thing the shop told me was that my rear struts aren't actually threaded in, more just sitting there...so this also adds quite a bit to the noises when I go over any sort of bumps. Also when I go over bumps at any sort of speed I can feel the rear of the car wiggle and move towards the outside of the corner and feel all around just unsettled. Soooooo... I could either have the shop tear into my suspension and spend a bunch of money on stock 40 year old suspension or get a set of coilovers. Weld in camber plates and coilovers will be on my car before too long. In other news, I took out some more interior and found a few unpleasant surprises... A mile of wire attached at one end...I can't imagine Datsun put this here This nastiness was just sitting in the corner... Shift boot- Even after a clean it didn't look to great so I painted it, I'll probably replace it anyways

240z Drivetrain Issues.Help!

Orangetang- That sound has now stopped (when engaging clutch) and now that I think about it I think it was only first gear that it really did it. It must have been that the differential or something attached to it was able to move since the diff mounts were worn out and whatever it was, was hitting or bumping on something.I haven't gotten a chance to look under the car but it could be the aforementioned welded in brackets.Could be something to look into for your car if you're having the same issues. Thanks for the imput -

Got the car back from the shop today and everything I wanted addressed has been or at least I now know what the problem is. Clutch Issues- master cylinder leaking slave cylinder leaking hose broken/brittle those replaced the clutch now engages much lower than before which I like. And it works again ... which is also good! Differential issues- most of the problems I had with the diff can be blamed on the worn mounts which were replaced but while they were under there they found that the previous owner had put a couple "L" brackets under the diff...they said it was not interfering with anything so no need to cut it off.Maybe they saw the worn mounts and decided to put it there in case it was to fall out? Also need new bushings and loss of traction is definitely tires, they're cracked up skinny all seasons. Good call seattlejester! -

Should have the car back monday but for the time being here's some shots of the car and some of the little things that I have done with it since I got it. Here's a couple shots after I had just put in my radiator.Once I saw how nice it looked I couldn't stand the look of the over sprayed/rusty nastiness so I sanded it all down and put a layer of weatherproof paint then truck bed liner. I was too excited to paint it once I had it prepped so no before pics bet rest assured this looks much better. Some of the other pics will show what it used to look like. This one you can see the terrible engine bay paint someone did on it. not pretty... And a couple old pics...
