  1. Brooklyn's is fine - I was kind of joking about a trendy place being Hooters (how would I know since I've never been there! ). The problem with my not going out very often is that I often don't have good suggestions. Brooklyn's is fine but, as I mentioned, I won't be there for the Z club meeting since I work late on Wednesdays (and Tuesdays). If you'd like to meet there just about any other afternoon or evening, my schedule is usually pretty free. Brooklyn's was chosen by the Z club since it is central so it might be a good choice. I'm really fine with any place. John
  2. I'm going to be at the Mile High Nationals, but just on Friday (all day - my wife and another couple are catching up with me around 5pm) and without my ZX. Let me know if you will be there that day/evening and we can find a way to meet. Otherwise, I think you (schwiplarkin) once said that you had some cold beer in your garage and that you lived near Yale (I live near Yale & Downing). I could stop by most any time and I'd be happy to replenish your stock of beer. I could meet just about anywhere, though - jbk240z suggested everyone meet at Hooters which would be a cultural experience I have not yet had. I'd prefer some place less trendy, though, since I'm fast becoming part of the geezer crowd (58) and don't get out much. Someone should set a day/time/place and let's see who can make it. I work late on Wednesdays so I rarely get to attend the Z Car Club meetings at Brooklyn's but, as PrOxLaMuS and Darrel mentioned, it might be a good central place for everyone else to meet. If you haven't been there before, MapQuest it since I got lost my first time trying to find the place. John
  3. Thanks! Learned something new. John
  4. KTM-EXC/Rob: I checked out your cardomain site and I like the photos. The black paint in the engine bay is a nice touch. Lookin' good! John
  5. Yasin: It's a great car! Could you give a summary of how your car has evolved since the article? I am guessing that your individual posts may have covered the evolution but if you added a quick summary here, it would be linked to the information in the magazine article. I believe you bought one of John Coffey's carbon fiber hoods (is it on?) but I don't recall other changes. As a ZX owner, I'm ALWAYS interested in what you are doing to it. It's inspiring! John
  6. I posted this article in the Non-Tech forum. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=123551 John
  7. This three page article about Brian Schwatken’s 300ZX appeared in the summer 2004 issue of Sport Z magazine. John
  8. This two page article appeared in the November, 2004 issue of Kit Car magazine. There isn’t a lot of depth to it but I really like the drawings. John
  9. This article about Dan Juday’s gorgeous car appeared in Kit Car Builder magazine but I don’t know the date. Someone must know the date (note to self: add dates to all articles being saved!). Dan - were any other articles published about the car? Eric Neyerlin from Z Parts did a great photo shoot of Dan’s car and about 40 photos are posted at http://www.zparts.com/showcase/djudayv8proj/shoot1/index.htm John Washington from Reaction Research has some photos posted at http://www.reactionresearch.com/280yz/danjuday/danjuday.html John
  10. This five page article is from Racer in December 1996 when the Z was discontinued in the U.S. John
  11. I just posted an article in the Non-Tech section about Yasin's car. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=123529 John
  12. This article appeared in the summer 2004 issue of Sport Z magazine and features Yasin’s sweet ZX turbo. Yasin is a frequent poster on Hybrid – do a search for many more details about the car. John
  13. Here are two articles, one from Popular Hot Rodding (4 pages – May, 1978) and the other from Peterson’s Creative Customizing book from 1978 (10 pages). Keep in mind that both were written a long time ago - styles and tastes change over nearly 30 years. The yellow highlighted areas and underlining are just areas that were of interest to me when I obtained the articles - I have stopped making permanent marks in articles that I save. I found the article and the book through this thread. I believe that the Hot Rod article mentioned is not of the Evel Eagle but rather an article that I already posted to Hybrid, since the months/year of the articles are the same. Please correct me if I am wrong. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=73717&highlight=evel This thread has some color photos posted by olderthanme which I believe were from the eBay ad. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=111075&highlight=evel I searched but could not locate a thread, with comments from zman and Mikelly, from November, 2002 that I believe was in response to the car showing up on eBay. I scanned my old copy of the page and posted it (and the black & white versions of what olderthanme posted) at the end of the articles. I do not know what it sold for or where it went. John
  14. I like your idea of integrating your trailer hitch into the bumper. I've been thinking about cutting much of my existing bumper away so that it is tucked tight to the bodywork. As you said, it won't protect from the big one but then most bumpers are only good for 5 mph anyway. Having a trailer hitch allows for a bike rack, a small trailer or, as I saw on one Z at the MSA show some years ago, a custom BBQ grill that attached via the hitch when the car was parked. I don't know how practical that was but it brought a grin to my face. Keep us posted on your progress. John
  15. Afshin: Do you still have the red turbo 280ZX? Auxilary mentioned he thought he saw it at the ZONC show which made me wonder if you still had it. If it wasn't your car at the show then I guess the old saying about the sincerest form of flattery applies. Wow! That was quite a story about the cab and your serious injuries. I'm glad you made it through it. John
  16. jdarkme: I'm glad you enjoyed the article. It's interesting to see the perspective of the media 26 years ago. John
  17. I just posted three articles in the Non-Tech forum about the 1981 280ZX Turbo when it first hit the market. 18. This five page article, titled Turbo Z (280ZX), appeared in Sports Car Graphic magazine in 1981 (I don’t know the month). John
  19. This five page article, titled Datsun 280-ZX Turbo, appeared in Car & Driver magazine in May 1981. Note how the title has a dash in it whereas the Road & Track article of the same title and date does not have a dash. John
  20. This three page article, titled Datsun 280ZX Turbo, appeared in Road & Track magazine in May 1981. John
  21. I'm pleased that you have been enjoying the articles! That Z is pretty amazing and I would love to see more details. John

  23. This five page article was written by a member of the Z Car Club of Colorado and was published in Sports Car Illustrated. I don't know the date but I am guessing about 10 years ago. John

  25. Thanks, Rags! I did a search on his name and didn't see anything very recent. Since you said he had checked in recently, I sent him a PM asking if he could give us an update. John
