Terry Oxendale's Z has a custom one piece front end. He is a Hybrid member and his website documents his build in detail. I have no idea if the following are one piece kits or not but perhaps they will be of interest. I saved some photos of a black 74 260 with a Cobra front end. I believe it is a Hybrid Z member's car but I didn't keep any reference to whose car it was. I'm not great at posting photos on Hybrid but I'd be happy to send the photos to you via email if you want. Eric Nyerlin's website shows the Tomahawk Z body kit at http://www.zparts.com/showcase/tomahawk/index.html . And depending on what look you are seeking, Vinh Vu (member of Hybrid) has a write-up of his Nalle Z with a Cobra Daytona Coupe look on his site and at CarDomain (http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2079260). Hope that helps. John

Having collected dozens of photos of various side exhaust set-ups, I agree that it probably comes down to possible weight savings and looks as bens1088 said, as well as possibly fewer bends, less material and easier to do true duals as netrix said. I suspect that the heat issue (burning one's leg) could be solved or at least minimized with some of today's heat wraps which likely would also help a bit with the noise. I love the way they look and have wondered about tucking a wrapped exhaust into a well-braced rocker panel area to minimize road clearance issues. Ranging from fully exposed pipes like some Corvettes and the Cobra Daytona Coupe had to exhausts with only the exhaust tips visible (like Darius), side exhausts sure have been tried on a lot of cars over the years. Regards, John

I've been a career counselor for 20 years at the Career Center at the University of Denver. I focus on helping students find internships and persuading employers to offer internships. Love working with students. I hope I can continue working there until I drop dead in my 80s. John

A&P technician, graduated in '83 into an awful job market. Worked for a year at Piper dealer. Went another direction with my career (became a career counselor after 5 more years of school) but I still am nuts about aviation. I miss my time at the FBO but it was not to be.

Very VERY nice!! John -
For people who may not have been on Hybrid back then, in 2007 I scanned quite a few articles and photos to Photobucket that are related to the Z or ZX - most are of highly modified cars. All of them can be viewed by going to this link. http://s198.photobucket.com/home/johnhaag1/allalbums . One article is about a car (not a Z) that is so ugly it is almost lovable - the AC Petitte. About 5-6 years ago I saved a number of photos of Dan's car from his website and also from Eric Nyerlin's website. However, when I tried to view them now, they appear to be only thumbnail size. The following information was listed when I clicked on Properties for the attached thumbnail. It is obvious that I know very little (nothing?) about saving or downloading photos - I am guessing that I should have saved the photos in some way that would allow them to be viewed at full size. I saved 20 of these thumbnail photos from Dan's website and 19 from Eric's website and would be happy to post them if someone knows how to make them viewable in something other than thumbnail size. Dell Image Expert Picture Size: 2.02 KB (2,073 bytes) Size on disk: 4.00 KB (4,096 bytes) I also managed to save some regular-size photos of Dan's car. Click on the links below.

Youtube video of dry ice blasting on a 240z!!
jhaag replied to proxlamus©'s topic in Body Kits & Paint
Thanks for posting the video! This looks very interesting. I couildn't find any places such as a Rent-a-Center that had these but there are two places listed for Colorado that appear to offer the service. Blast Cleaning Directory.com, a division of dryiceInfo.com (http://www.blastcleaningdirectory.com/Countries/USAWest.htm) listed these places. Perhaps they could tell you if anyone rents them in our area. Colorado: ICC P.O. Box 2087 Englewood Colorado, 80150 USA Telephone: (720) 933-4422 Fax: (303) 233-2463 ECRS, LLC 1304 Cumberland Street Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907 Telephone: 719-599-0002 Fax: 719-262-0410 John -
What a beautiful pair of ZXs! Wish I'd been there when you took the white one out for a spin! John

Yasin: I just sent you a PM about possibly seeing your car this weekend. Regards, John

Yasin: I was thinking of going to the NASA event (spectating only) at Pueblo Motorsports Park on either Saturday May 16th or Sunday May 17th (https://www.nasaproracing.com/event/850). I won't have my ZX (not fully put back together after some steering work) but I would love to see your car and take more photographs. Would you be available early or late on either day? I would like to see the Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing inaugural race at High Plains Raceway on the day I am not going to Pueblo. If you are available, shoot me a PM so I can get directions and exchange phone numbers. Thanks! John

Thanks for the S130 photos, Yasin! I need to get down to the Springs to see your car in person! I have saved a lot of the shots you have posted of it. John

I don't know if this was posted before. I can't read Japanese but the photos are interesting. http://www.geocities.jp/kuni_s30z/index.html The car was also featured at this site (in English). http://speedhunters.com/archive/2008/06/17/car-feature-gt-gt-battle-s30z.aspx John

My dad bought me a $50, non-running '55 Ford out of the junkyard in 1965 when I turned 16. He got it running and the rest was up to me. It probably would've run the quarter mile in about 21 seconds and would've used a quart of oil to do so. It almost dragged the massive chrome bumpers when going around a corner hard. I put a glasspack on it and thought I was cool. Little did I know... John

Thanks for posting the website! The price of the front left fender assembly (#3 in the photo on the website) is listed at 73,500. When I ran that figure through a Japanese yen to dollar conversion site (http://www.xe.com/), it was $769.63. John

I'm a career counselor at the University of Denver (19 years) and run the internship program there. Was a Honda tech in a former life. Got an A&P license that I never used but school was fun. Trying to get into the garage more often to work on my ZX. Just shaved my beard after 41 years - it's a hoot when I look in a mirror. 59 1/2 years old - in my mind, I feel like I'm 20 but the body feels a wee bit older. Life is good. John

My ZX was covered with a large number of failry big dents when I got it. I found a guy who worked at a Dent Doctor type of place but who worked out of his home after hours. I am amazed at how perfect the body looks now. Get some estimates and see if you can find someone who has low overhead. I spent about $250 for the whole car (roof, hatch, tops of fenders and hood). Terry gets his moment of fame! Congratulations! On the bottom of page 106 of the 50th Anniversay issue of AutoWeek (dated July 16th) is a small photo of Terry's amazing Z. The photo deserves to be larger but then again it is the biggest and best issue of Autoweek ever. The magazine briefly features 50 readers from 50 states. Here is the caption that went with the photo: "I understand what it means to be a car guy. I'm immersed in car building (a home-built V8 Nissan 240Z), interrrupted only by the gleeful dance up the driveway with my newly delivered AutoWeek (and my wife's reasonable requests)." I did a search on Terry's name before posting in case someone else posted this. The most recent posts with Terry's name in them made me think it wasn't already posted. I've been out of touch for several days so I have some catching up to do on the posts. John

Thanks for the side view! I like it. John

Have you seen the Arizona Z (http://www.arizonazcar.com/510brakes.html) or Modern Motorsports (http://www.modern-motorsports.com/) pages? I know MM sells brake upgrades for the 280ZX but I didn't see them listed in my quick search of his site. Shoot him an email. John

Thanks, rdelat! Nice work! I like the clean look of both the front and rear. Do you have a side profile photo of the car? John

rdelat: Do you have any more information about the nose on the photo of the ZX you posted? Thanks! John
