  1. That's really strange, I never got anything from you. Oh well. I have a couple 'Nissan OHC' valve covers, one is already powercoated blue (it came with an engine I bought a few months back. Let me know if you are interested in either of them. Also, please let me know what's up with the '77 5-speed you told me you had available...I'm still interested in that (another situation where you probably sent me a reply and for what ever reason I never got it). I don't recall what the other part you needed was off hand but I have it also if you still need it.
  2. Hey Mike, do you still need the parts you posted in the classifieds? I replied to it and also sent you an email but have never heard back.
  3. I just found this great site where you can buy one state-side all up to the US standards and legal...for a price of course. You can even order engines/parts from them!! http://www.motorex.net/skyline.html#
  4. Mike - I'm still interested in that '77 5-speed you said you have. Please get back with me.
  5. Mike, I've been trying to get a hold of you via email and PM for a couple weeks now. I would still like to know the condition of the 5-speed you were telling me about. Please get back to me.
  6. Does anyone have Sunbelt's website? I can't find it by searching the web.
  7. Wish it didn't turn out this way but can't wait to see the pix when you have her done. Better yet, I would love to see video of the car making a run!
  8. I too am looking at the 3.1L stroker and have spent much time researching this. Here are links to what I can locate while here at work, I may have more at home. http://geocities.com/zgarage2001/z.html http://www.geocities.com/inlinestroker/ http://www.ztherapy.com/ http://www.schlaver.com/zCarGo.html http://www.geocities.com/row4navy/ http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1292&highlight=l6+engine+calculator -> L6 Engine Calculator What I have been able to determine is that you want an F54 block, either an N42 or a P90 head (the P90 will need to be worked over whereas the N42 will not but both should achieve the same results), the LD28 crank, 240Z rods (the ones with the 9mm bolt which were only available in '73, the earlier models had 8mm bolts), the KA24E pistons from the 240SX, and the head gasket of the proper thickness for your exact specs (either a 1 or 2mm gasket). Now as for carbs...I'd go with either dual or better yet triples. I do not think that a 4bbl is a good choice for these engines as I have heard too many people say that cyl 1 & 6 tend to run lean and 3 & 4 tend to run rich simply due to the way the manifold and L6 are designed. Go with the dual or triple set up and you will have a much more consistant fuel delivery across all cyls. Turbo...I don't recall hearing anyone turbo a 3.1 stroker yet...that could be quite interesting! Hope this is helpful info for you.
  9. What is your POINT? The Z only depreciated 60% in 30 years, so we shouldn't take a sawzall to one and flare it? We shouldn't make it faster because of the magic 60% depreciation number? You obviously don't approve of what khashabi1 is doing. I've got 2 ideas for you: 1. Don't put a V8 in your Z. Should be easy enough. 2. Don't watch this thread. Also easy enough. You aren't making any sense. You don't like it. We get that. It's not your choice. It's not your car. You were given an opportunity to buy and "save" it. You didn't take it. Get over it. You've obviouslly not read all my posts so get off it. Go back and read them then rethink your response.
  10. Are you on crack!?! Ever hear of inflation? It's a car, not a house. Cars DEPRECIATE in value unlike realestate which APPRECIATES in value (there are certain exceptions of course, classics/antiques). Go buy a new car and try and sell it a few years later for more than you paid...you should be able to due to inflation right? NOT!!
  11. Well I wish that someone had been willing to pay the ransom for this car to save it but that didn't happen and it is your car so have a great time with it. Please do the car justice and do this conversion right, and not just another hack job. I'd love to see pix when it's done...and the video of you spanking Daruis. My offer to trade my rust free Z for your's still stands. Your's is pure stock whereas the one I have is not, someone repainted it in a different color at one point, had installed and removed a wing, installed an alarm and driving lights wich are both gone now, non-OEM rear carpet, and a different shift knob. Other than that it's a running driving solid Z. If you're interested shoot me a PM or email FAST, it's going for paint tomorrow!
  12. Where did you find those shift knobs?
  13. Must we be so childish as to start dodo with others? Have any of you here read the thread on classiczcar? People have apologized for their harsh comments... They have a passion for the stock Z and you here have a passion for the hybrid, hence where there are two different sites...we all love the Z car but just like different things done to it. This site it the place this all started by daring him to post on classiczcars! Please don't let this site become like zcar.com, nothing but a bunch of children with nothing better to do than start dodo with other members and other sites. I like this site, and I also like classiczcar. I like the stock Z but certainly appreciate a well done conversion (I'd love to have an RB converted Z but too expensive for me right now). In case you missed it, i was being sarcastic! notice the three faces? I'm pretty sure khashabi1 is'nt going to send that message to any classiczcar people or haters because it's meant as a joke so lighten up. Im with you i like both stock Z and Hybrid but i never sent any email to anyone saying your a dolt for even thinking of chopping an original car or how dare you make money on a car you bought for only $500. All im saying is more power to whatever you want to do and whatever that makes you happy. Sorry if you took this as being childish, it was just for amusement purposes only. By the way i agree with you on hard core E-bay bidders. You'll probably see a sniping war at the last 30 seconds and maybe he'll get the reserve at minimum. Sorry man, intent and emotion doesn't always come through in text communication. I didn't realize that you are just being sarcastic, my bad. I have no problem with someone making profit, I'm doing this right now on a Z I have acquired (ssshhhh!). Go free market! As for chopping up an original car, I'd really hate to see it done to such a fine example. This one could easily become a stock show queen. Email...NEVER. That's just out right rude and tacky. He has posted on both forums, you can share your opinion there and if you think it's inappropriate to in public then it's probably no better by email. I'm watching to see what it does go for, I hope he gets his asking price...or decides to trade with me for the one I have.
  14. Another thought is to post it for sale in Autotrader's Collector Trader section. Cars there are commanding top dollar! Here's a link showing what's listed now: http://www.collectorcartraderonline.com/adsearchprocess.html?beginYear=1965&endYear=1975&keyword=240Z&make_name=DATSUN&model_name=&lastCheck=searchall&runSearch=yes
  15. Must we be so childish as to start shit with others? Have any of you here read the thread on classiczcar? People have apologized for their harsh comments... They have a passion for the stock Z and you here have a passion for the hybrid, hence where there are two different sites...we all love the Z car but just like different things done to it. I like this site, and I also like classiczcar. I like the stock Z but certainly appreciate a well done conversion (I'd love to have an RB converted Z but too expensive for me right now). Also remember that the hardcore eBay people get their bids in within the last few minutes...or even seconds of an auction...it ain't over yet. Personally I'm not sure it will go for $7k because it is not running therefore there may be other problems that are unknown at this time, if it were running and driving I would certainly agree that it could go for $7k+ but non-running I'm thinking more like in the $4-5k range. But hey, I could be wrong! I never though that VIN 26 would go for over a grand in the shape it was in (VERY sad) but it went for over $2350 last week! Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2485459700&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT Here's a great example of what people are willing to spend (over spend) on a Z: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2486578721&indexURL=1#ebayphotohosting Oh yes, and if I had the cash I'd be buying this perfect example of an all original Z but with a new baby and my own projects already underway there's no budget for it. My loss. Say, I have a straight and rust free NM Z car in my driveway I'm going to sell...I'll trade you even! It runs and drives very well but this does not matter to you since you're pulling the drivetrain. From what I can tell it has not been molested very much at all, someone added driving lights and an alarm which are both gone now. I'm curious why someone hacking into the wiring matters to a V8 conversion? Won't you be removing all the wiring and redoing it for the V8? This is what someone else that I know was doing so I just thought that this was necessary.
  16. I just came across this one, maybe something of intereste... S30 240z 01/73 For sale Its a rolling body and NO rust or no dammage price is $650 for the car car does not run (motor/tran out of car) body is in excellent condition can ship it but local pick UP for it car comes with L 2.4 with S/u carbs headders and upgraded springs let me know if you need photos of it karim (818)-345-7289
  17. I'm with the sell it to someone who will want to keep it stock, it would be a shame to destroy a completely unmolested classic car of ANY kind. This is not to mention the HUGE profit you will gain in the process! As for other cars that would suite your needs...has anyone looked in the Classifieds on this site lately? There are a few on there right now that appear to be great candidates, including a V8 swap that's completed for $3k. Sell it to a 'collector' take the profit and make youself a killer Z for less out of your own pocket! Talk about a win-win situation.
  18. Just a warning to all who buy Z parts online, there's a guy on eBay that is located in Houston, Tx. that sells Z parts on eBay under the name reddat who's real name is GEORGE G. ROBBINS and contact info is: email: sprydat@houston.rr.com George G. Robbins 18231 Spruce Creek Dr. Houston, TX. 77084 This guy really gives the Z crowd a bad name by selling falsely advertised items. When asked for a better description and provided a picture he assurred me that what I provided a picture of is what he was selling but when it arrived it was something completely different. I then send a picture of his item and what he said it was side by side and he still could not see the obvious differences! Refused to take the item back then told me to "get a life". This guy is a worldclass jerk! Please be careful if you choose to do business with him...he'll also screw you on shipping (charged me $10 on something he only paid $3.53 to send in a reused box).
  19. How can I get to the old classifieds section? There is an ad I'm looking for which I believe is in the old section and I need to see if the seller listed additional contact info like a phone number.
  20. Here's a link to pix of the fuel tank I removed from my '73 240Z parts car last month. I hope this helps. http://www.pape.ws/gallery/album12
  21. In the new classifieds section there does not appear to be any indication of what new ads have been placed since last time you logged on. As this section grows this will be a real pain to scan through all the categories to try and find what is new especially since you now have to navigate over a dozen pages to see everything. Can something be implemented like we have in the forums to indicate which categories have new ads and which ads are new?
