  1. Hello, Here is a pic of the current setup. The setup is cut springs with Yoko 205/60R15 on Panasport rims I am going to be putting on in a few weeks the Stagg shocks and spring stuff. I know its going to raise the height of my car and the distance from my tire to fender. If I dont like this setup I will give it a season or 2 and then go coilovers. But for the price, hard to pass up as a get by thing. I just got a flat and really all the tires need to be replaced. Since I know I will gaining some height from the spring change, should I take advantage of that and go with 205/65r15 tires? Cut down on the gap some and add a bit of extra cushion from a taller tire. Or am I missing something. This isnt my best subject and I have little experiance And any thoughts on tires? Thanks
  2. Hello, I have a L26 with 4 speed tranny and SU carbs.. all original. Engine ran well, trans was very rough. Also have a LS1 with Hawkes straight headers, motor mounts and a T56 with a conversion kit if you want.....a bit more than your 1000 though....

  4. Budget is 25k ish... To pay in my top end of budget, the car will have to be completely redone with an LS engine in. Also willing to look at cars that partially complete. Maybe something like redone interior and exterior, but engine/suspension is original or the etc. Obviously not top of the budget. Thanks

  6. Rest of car is good to very good.. very minor outer damage to the body (spot on the hood).. no rust damage in the back end. There are some pinholes where the front windshield gasket was and water would be trapped..but other than that.. its all very good. Floor pans need replaced and firewall needs repairs.
  7. Pics say it all....rusted, spongy crappy crap Drivers side 1st Passenger side 2nd.. I really dont want to scrap the car, as you are seeing the worst. I am a fair welder with an excellent shop and tools. Here is what I am thinking: 2.5" square tubing all around. Mary up some Badog floor pain rails? I have never done this on a car. Is this thought process correct? 1. level car, measuring level on the door frame sills. 2. cut out front frame at the bend on the top where its spot welded to body work (need repair there also) 3. cut out rest of rusted sheet metal parts 4. repair sheet metal in prep for new frame rails 5. level new frame rails, weld in
  8. Listing says.... "Viscous limited slip differential. This is pulled from a 91 Nissan super hicas 240sx se, 6 bolt half shafts. We installed it in a 95 240sx so it currently has the backing plate for the S14 body. Also has the ABS sensor." This is going into my 74 260z with a LS1 engine and a T56 transmission..

  10. Yes, its quite ugly, and since I posted it has become uglier...I thought I could patch the floor pans, but a total replacement is needed. Soooo.. As for MIG.. I dont have a mig unit at home.. just a tig/stick rig... I still have to pull the engine and stuff...but once that is done I will start cutting and see where we end up....
  11. Eric Z.. I am pulling my working engine from my 1974 260z today of maybe this week. I will be selling it. Let me know if you have an interest in it. I will also be replacing my electrical.
  12. 1974 260z. I have a sheet of 16ga left over from another project. I really dont want to buy another sheet/half sheet..its not the money, its the hassle factor. I have never done any welding for a car before, but I am decent welder and I will be using TIG. Thoughts?

  17. Engine is from a 6/74 build date 260z L26 095250 Odometer reading from 12/2012 title said 66,984... Current Odometer reading is 49,023... . I know nothing of the history of the engine, other than it runs surprising well in my estimation. The tranny is stiff and is suspect in my opinion... I have no idea what to ask for... Edit to add... This car has 2 carbs that look like SU Carbs..
  18. Hello, 74 260z. I already have a 2004 LS1 from a Vette, a T5 tranny, Hawke headers and mounting kit. My budget is gone. I really wanted to put in AZ Z car kit, or Techno Toys kit, because its all right there...but I just cant afford it. Would a 375hp engine overwhelm stock parts? Suggestion on parts that would be acceptable, but not so expensive? This will be street only. I really appreciate any advice.. EDIT: Have been reading.... Seems for 1500 to 2000, I can do sway bars, tie rod ends, ball joint, urethan mounts, lowing coils and struts.... This would be keeping the control arms and brakes... Thoughts?
  19. Hello all, I have been doing research, reading, calling D&D transmissions and when I think I understand, I really dont it seems. I have an engine. LS1 from a 2004 Vette. I need a transmission. Manual. T56. Joe at D&D (very nice guy) says 1998-2002 Camaro/Firebird LS1 engine tranny will mount just fine. Except finding those is proving very hard to find. Zip in local junk yards, Zip on Craigslist and Ebay is scaring me a little cause of lack of info. And those that say its the correct model years, asking good money for it vs other trannys. My confusion is this: I seem to think that a few trannys will fit (bolt up), but the reason for the specific model years of the Camaro is that it puts the shifter in the correct position. Is this correct? Suggestions or comments? Thanks for any knowledge and help!
  20. I talked to Joe at D&D Performance. He said I need a T56 from a 98-02 Camaro or Trans Am as Kevin says.... Here is my question.. I believe I need the T56 that puts the shifter farther back...Is that how the above models have it? I questioned putting in an automatic..I was dead set against it from the start..but in the end I dont think I would mind it. Is the 4L60E the one to go with if I decide to?
  21. Thanks guys! I am glad to know I am in the ball park for pricing. I offered 2500 and he politely refused. I didnt go higher, saying I would let it sit for a bit and comeback at him. Let him marinate in the 2500 number. Its not an well advertised sale. I figured time and circumstance are on my side. We talked for another 10mins about other stuff in his garage and then I left. I will visit him again this weekend and see how it goes. I also agree prices are rising. I have been watching for a year, but simply couldnt so anything till now.
  22. Everything I find online says its a LS1..... As for making a T56 work...I think I am failing to understand why it would be difficult.
  23. I purchased a LS1 engine before I even have a car....A donor car was rear ended '04 Vette with 30k miles on it.... I have several cars I am looking at..but I have hurt my purchasing power on the Z... I am told that only a T56 will work with an '04 LS1 engine...is this correct?
  24. I have come across a '77 280z. Nothing special about it. The car on the outside is clean and very little rust.. Only rust spots are in the corners of back hatch area (just surface.bubbly paint) and on the rounded edged of the back where 2 pieces of metal meet...just surface/bubbly paint. Rocker panels solid/no rust...Bottom has zero rust.....Floor pans from the bottom look good. Owner says car ran last year...but didnt start it up. Interior is bad. Dash is in excellent shape. Owner wants 5K.. I said no...I am thinking 3k.. Is 5k fair..
