  1. Do the jtr(sanderson) manifolds fit the angle plug heads? If so thats what I will get. Thanks so much for all the responses It helped me out tons!!! Josh
  2. Well I've been searching to find out what headers I need to get, but all I see is tons of contraversy on the subject. So I look to all of you who have done it. I just bought a motor from my cousin. list of parts as follows: 350 4 bolt forged speed pro .250 dome pistons forged I-beam rods forged crank tfs 195 heads angle plug comp solid roller cam (don't know the specs yet) arp main studs, rod bolts, and head studs. harland sharp roller lifters crane stud girdle mildon windage tray victor jr. cnc ported intake holley 750hp carb It was rated a 500+ hp and It ran 11.56 in a 3800 lbs monte carlo with an open diff. before it was freshened up with alumnium heads and rings and bearings and cam. So now I need to know if the s&s headers fit the angle plug d-port heads? and in a 1978 280z Thanks for your help Josh
  3. This swap should be pretty easy even easier with a manual tranny. I'm pretty sure all the wiring is on the motor. Besides the ignition, and the heater relays. Witch if they leave the wiring atached to the motor you should be able to look at a wiring diagram to hook it up. Not knowing if your truck is throttle body or multi you will have to have a tbi style fuel pump in the tank, as the multi will have to much psi. or you could run a seperate lift pump, the carter style from any parts store will work 15-25 psi is best. The heater relays should be hooked up on a timer style relay to ignition on. I would only use a cummins inliner so much more reliable then any other brand.
  4. I also think the center section would be nice black, or car color.
  5. Where? and how much? They look really good. I just wonder can you get them in 10" or 12"? I'd like them to stick out a bit more.
  6. I'm planning on using halo style head lights in both spots. thinking about installing led turn signals into the headlights. I also just got hyundia excell side marker lights, what an improvement over the stock style markers. Went over to the painters today and he said only to more weeks till he is ready for the z yaaa!(after waiting for nine months on the waiting list). bartman that four letter word that starts with S and ends with W and I don't want NO more of it.
  7. Ya that is what my first impresion was too, but I don't drive as fast any more. I'm more into corner carving and 0-60. specially with a turbo 350 tranny 100 mph is 5500 rpm redline for my little turbo 305. The front isn't as rounded as it looks in the picture. I look at it in the picture and I don't like it as much but when I see it in person it looks pretty good(to me).
  8. Here are some updated pictures What do you think.
  9. Well I wanted To post my engine set up for feedback. I started out with a stock 1978 Chevy malibu with 80,000 miles with a 2 barrel 305 with a fresh head job(got the car for free) removed engine and trans (turbo 350). cleaned and painted. Added a performer intake and 650 edelbrock carb. hooker shorty headers, new 50,000 volt hei.(all parts laying around the shop) still free. I installed it in the z with homemade motor and tranny mounts. Now as I am still waiting for my painter to have time to do my paint job I keep running into ideas. I mounted a hx35 holset turbo to the side of the engine(off of a 99 cummins I just did a twin set up on) turbo only has 60,000 miles.I built a top hat for the carb out of some scrap aluminium. Now I have to order some mandrel tubing to do the exhaust. 2 1/4 to the turbo 3" out (is this enough ?) thru a bullet 3" muffler.I also need to Get a blow off valve. and and a wastegate(hx35 has a internal wastegate set at 19 psi, way To much) want 5-10 psi adjustable. My thoughts for the fuel system is to get a race mechanical fuel pump 13-14 psi (good for a max 10 psi boost). Edelbrock has one. I have a areomotive boost regulated fuel pressure regulator. anyway the engine probably tops out at 5500 rpm and has low compression factory so I think this set up will work, only looking for about 300-350 crank hp. What do you think?
  10. Does anybody know what front end is on the hybridz entrance page I always loved the look. It fits the frontend better then most dam kits(not as wide). is it a bre style. Thanks
  11. I started with it open with split bumpers but couldn't build a grill that looked good. This is where I ended up. I really like the frontend pic on the hybridz entry page. I wanted mine to look like that. I ended up with some fiberglass and steel to come up with this. I thought that maybe if I add lights it would break it up a little. anyway I would like to break it up, but how thats why I started this thread. Thanks for the comments
  12. Do you think I should break up the front end with some lights? I have some outlined on the front.
  13. Well I need some help with the front of my car what do you guys think. I sorta think it looks like a boat. I also included pics of the rear and pics of engine. help please!!!
  14. Twoeightnine The 240 bumpers fit right on the 280 with mount mods. The staked grills works great even at high speed, and easy and cheap to build. My new thing is to build a allumnium grill for the rear, Over the tail lights with the same body lines of rear hatch and then install lights behind them remove the rear bumper and smooth the lower valance. really neat (I think) I mocked it up with electrical tape and it looks smooth more of a modern look. if it works I'll probably build one for the front too and set back the front turn signals. I got to get it done only two more weeks till paint.
  15. allright I wish I could get a picture of mine I have a 78 280 z pulled the crash bumpers off and found a bent 240 bumper, and split it the same as in the top photo. Then took the 240 and 280 grills apart (the long skiny screws) and put them together to make one grill. Takes all of the fins to make it one but it looks really good and the split bumpers look good too. but mine is on the waiting list to go into the paint shop and get beautified so I need to know what the colors are of the two cars The top looks like yamaha blue and the 2 lower looks like midnight blue. if you know what they are please tell me thanks.
  16. as Long as I can remember any time anyone talked about jeeps they always say get the 4.0 models They don't have the problems that other amc motors have heard that they are the same motor as in the old 60's ramblers they used to race against the v-8 crowd in factory racing any way they do have alot of performance mods in the aftermarket. a cherokee frame and a lift seems like it might fit under a z pretty good almost like my 510 wagon on a cj5 frame(only had to shorten it 1.75 inches.
  17. Just wondering if anyone ever swaped in a 4.0 in a z I drove a HO yesterday and was totally impressed with the power and torque for a stock jeep it really pulled. header, cam, and or a turbo would make them run. They should be plentiful in the wrecking yards too. overdrive auto of 5 speed manuals are plenty tough and good ratios in the 2x4 cherokees anyway just a thought not going to swap my v-8 to go back to a six
  18. Have you looked at this months sportscar compact and saw the ultima gtr He bought the bmw v-12 and built it I think it said 900 hp not sure really good articals this month can't wait to see the video of Ultimate street car challenge.
  19. I've searched the treads and went to your site and I'm still trying to figure out the best way to get what I want I want to change my 78 280z to a 15 x 10" wheel in back and a 15 x 8 in front. I want to use those cheap black powderd rims you see on trucks (I like the look) but can only find the rims in chevy and ford 5 lug bolt paterns. What I want to know is what is the easiest way to convert my z to a chevy or ford 5 lug so I can get my wheel tire combo I want. Thank you Josh
  20. Thanks Mike that will help out alot If you don't mind me asking What length did you cut the Housing? What gears are you using? Are you using a limited slip? What psi springs are you using? Is there anything you would change now that you are finished? How is the traction? What tranny are you using? Thank you so much this is exactly what I was looking for.
  21. too tired to make sense I guess I still have the R200 and want to change it to a 9" , 8.8 , 10, or 12 bolt rearend I just want to know I guess how different people did the job: four link, ladder setup, or leaf springs. there isn't alot of room for a four link. looks like the four link would only be a foot long. ladder setup would be the same way. the springs wouldn't work in any cofiguration I could think of. Anyway thanks for your site, do you have any pictures fo your Z's rearend swap. I would appreciate it Thanks 78 280z P.S. The MG is the one we are finishing with the 8.8 and the 215 thanks My Z is the one with the 355 How do you like your wheel tire combo?
  22. I've been looking and looking for swaps and I haven't been able to find any info I have all the places for parts we are just finishing a MG with a 215 buick v-8 with a 8.8 rear. I like all the options I get with a 9" cheep parts gears starting out 5.00 $ on ebay unlimited limited slips axle resplining for 109.00 with shipping right now I have a 355 z with a turbo 350 running low 12.s but I can't stand driving it down the road. 3500- 4000 at 60 with a 3500 b&m stall convertor I have a set of 295-50-15 that look great mocked up to the body. I would just like to hear from someone who has done it Thanks
