  1. i think it's kinda cool having a vintage turbo setup, except the turbo is also blowing oil into the intake, so i might replace it soon, i just don't know what with, i don't want anything that i will have to highly modify the system to use.
  2. i've found some gasket sets on ebay, for B, E, or F flow rajay turbos, but the tag on mine says EF, any ideas?
  3. oh boy, gpop no longer offers rajay kits, or rebuilds. http://www.gpopshop.com/rajaykits.html
  4. i keep searching but i can't seem to find the specs on this turbo, should there be more markings on the housings other than the tag?
  5. i didn't have the connection clamped at the throttle body, but that wasn't the source of the leak, i had pulled the j-pipe to clean it up a bit.
  6. i would prefer to not replace the tires with the smaller ones, but the tires on the car seem to be from 1982! they still have plenty of tread, and surprisingly aren't dry rotted. but i don't think i should trust them.
  7. ah, it must be the head gasket, we just did a compression test and 2 cylinders were low. looks like the head is going to come off.
  8. sorry, last time i had looked at it couldn't figure out what you guys were saying,. but i have it figured out now.
  9. i do have a haynes manual, i was just frustrated and didn't want to look through it! lol
  10. I just picked up this car, and i've noticed that there is some blow by, so i have a healthy coating of oil on the inside of the j-pipe. i want something that will bolt right up to my existing manifold, but making a new down pipe is not a problem for me. my question is... what is a fairly inexpensive, and readily available turbo to replace this with? i'm not looking for big performance, just something to that will perform decently close to whatever this one did.
  11. bringing an old thread back from the dead... i have a rajay ef turbo on my car, i don't know how bad the blow by is, but there is a healthy coating of oil on the inside of the j-pipe, i've cleaned it up for now, buti'm sure it'll come back. what would be a readily available, and inexpensive turbo to replace this with?
  12. i have a set of 195/60/14's, would it be a huge deal to use them to replace the 195/70/14's that are on my 280Z?
  13. alright thanks for the info guys, i'll get back at it tomorrow after work.
  14. oh boy, i hope i can reach them with that turbo there.
  15. car is a '77 280z, with a BAE turbo system on it. is it just the four bolts on top of the runners by the injectors that hold the manifold on? they're out, but the manifold isn't budging. i'm tempted to hit it with a hammer, but am unsure if there is anything else holding it onto the head. any info would be greatly appreciated.
  16. the egr isn't capped off, but it doesn't sound like it's leaking back there, it sounds like it's leaking more towards the #1 cylinder
  17. i can't really feel where the air is escaping from because the fan keeps blowing over the engine, i'll have to stop the fan and see if i can feel it leaking. also, i know in the pictures there are no clamps on the charge pipe from the turbo to the TB, but that's not the problem. I had pulled the pipe to clean it up a little and didn't put the clamps back on right away.
  18. i'm more looking for seats that came stock in cars, that i might be able to find inexpensively. if i must i will spend a little more money and buy a decent set of knock-offs from ebay or something.
  19. the turbo kit has been on the car for as long as i can remember, since before my uncle even bought it. unless you're suggesting ways to improve the system, to the best of my knowledge it all works fine.
  20. your guess is as good as mine. i don't know much about these cars yet. my other cars are a '95 saab 900 se turbo, and an '82 pontiac trans am with a vortec 5.7 motor, these straight 6 motors are a whole new monster to me, but nothing i can't handle.
  21. i'd like to change from the original z seats to something a little more fitting, and has more support in the bottom of the seat. but i'd like to keep it to under $300 for the pair, what do you guys recommend?
  22. I'm proud to say this is my first Z car, i haven't gotten much of a chance to drive it yet but soon enough. my uncle gave me the car because he suspects it has a leaky head gasket, the car runs smooth, but there is a noise that sounds like air escaping from somewhere. i just can't locate the culprit. video of the noise... pictures of the car...
