  1. So went to the pdk site and the front brace is listed unavailable until notice. Anyone know of any other company that sells something similar pre fabbed? I'm sure it's not hard to fabricate something like this but I have no welder or experience Real bummer I hope to learn in the near future.
  2. Yeah I think it was in a mild front ender at one point. Whoever did the body work did a damn good job of aligning things with brackets but those inside headlight panels and lower brace that all that attaches to is womperjawed and was re-welded very poorly. I was hoping to get a transplant from a salvage z and have someone re-weld properly. Other than that and the obvious hatch, that's about all. And the nose thing is more of a I'd like to get it right than a "it looks like crap" thing since it looks fine until you stick your head in the opening and stare. Yeah if your friend is up to it I'm all over it. My 1962 vw van was done in a garage with etching primer sealant and two tone dodge viper-red and toyota super-white. Looked great.
  3. how about reputable/ semi-affordable auto body places, any recommendations? Want to have someone paint my hatch and maybe weld on a new nose frame in the future.
  4. My transgression usually involves reading a searche dout thread, getting engrossed, and then posting at the end, forgetting it's already 4 years old. Ha
  5. And I'm in Mckinney, just North of Plano and 280z^
  6. Okay my 240z came with 2 yes 2 sets of headlight covers. Clear and Smoked. Bummer is that they came with no mounting tabs. I was wondering if anyone knows where to get just the tabs, or an easy fabrication to make some mounting tabs. Thanks Chris
  7. My brother has a B&M shifter I could finagel to prevent the overshift issue. I suspected the t-5 may be stronger but this confirms It. IIRC, from what I've read the t-5 first gear is slightly shorter and 5th gear is taller allowing for better cruising if you so choose.
  8. Now before anybody gets on to me, I tried SEVERAL searches. It may be that I didn't type the right word combination but I didn't see anything that addressed one versus the other. Now the main benefit is that I already have the t-5, supposed to be good condition. My main question would be is there any large advantage to swapping in a ka 5 speed instead of the BW t-5? From reading it seems the bw would need less machining but seeing as this is a weekend thrasher that I want to last if the ka 5 is significantly better it might be worth the extra up front. Would prefer to do this once. Thanks for the help
  9. for not actually having any words that was extremely helpful, I didn't think to look at the carbon fiber for the listing/pictures
  10. So I'm assuming that it is the rear taillight panel? I initially though this meant the panel the tail light bolt onto since it was on the body repair section. My next question is, does this panel bolt to the rear of the car or is this the piece every talks about that is riveted in?
  11. Ok. I did a search but was unable to find anything specifically about the panel that COVERS the tail lights. Mine is gone and would like to replace it. Is this something that is originally riveted to the body panel. Where can I find this replacement piece for my 72. It's the piece that stock is black and covers the rear tail light panel.
  12. Yeah it was listed a little over a week ago. I brought it home last monday night. Great little car that needs VERY little work, I drove it home from Richardson to Mckinney without a glitch. I don't care too much for the big wing on back. I hope to remove it and paint beneath to match the car, after I take care of the leaky 4speed. I'm going to try to replace the tailshaft seal to see if that's the culprit. If so then I'll hold on the 5 speed swap for now.
  13. I was wondering if I'd run in to someone who knew it. Great car, I got lucky. Still a few things I need to do, mainly the 4 speed is leaking like a sieve. Otherwise seems to be running like a champ.
  14. 280z, you're down in plano? Do you know of any clubs or regular meets in the plano/mckinney area? Would love to get together sometime. You don't happen to know of any local pull-a-parts do you? I need a turbo crossmember for my bw t5 swap
  15. I agree that is one super clean 72. Like previous poster than pic with the 76 ball and matching colors is just a classic pic
  16. Wow big-phil. Did you even read the guys post? He knows about the guy in fort worth but is going to have to tow and is looking for someone in East dallas. Adronius let me know if you find someone good. I'm just slightly north in Mckinney. Proud owner of a 1972 with 65k documented miles. 2 owner owned it from 75-2007. I'm the fourth owner.
  17. Yeah, I did some searching and the pieces of info here and there make it a day long chore to figure something out. But that holley FI system recommended sounds like a winner. I came from the volkswagen world of webber IDF's and downdraft ITB's for fuel injection I hadn't seen the holley conversion.
  18. So the megasquirt is just the ecu though correct? What are the cons to a stock fuel injection unit? With the engine setup I would prefer to dyno tune so I'm assuming I would have to adapt an o2 sensor into my header/collector? I'm coming from honda tuning where everything is obd1 or obd2. I like carbs, but the whole 90degree turn from a 4 barrel and the 1 and 6 cylinder lean issue from these intakes seems a bit concerning. Even though arizonazcar has tried to debunk this claim it makes sense that the turn slows down airflow and would lean 1 and 6.
  19. Okay, just bought a 72 z with an l28 from a 75 z. It has a bob sharp intake with a 4 barrel holley on it. I've been searching and having trouble piecing together what I would need to swap to fuel injection. The engine has dished pistons and a hot cam 490/280 I believe. dished pistons had to be used to clear the valve lift. Idles mean but I would ilke to convert over to better fuel delivery that the 4 barrel, and would prefer to go with injection what parts from what years could I throw together for a decent system?
  20. Thanks for the reply. Just bought the 240 last night and this morning just below where the driveshaft meets the trans was a nice dark puddle(first leak! woohoo!). Hoping to fix it soon. Car came with the BW t-5 from a turbo zx. Looking to get that in. I'm pretty sure it already has a r200 rear.
  21. Okay, I haven't bought a hayne's manual yet. But my 72 240z 4speed tranny is leaking around the transmission where driveshaft is located. I'm a little confused as to what I've read in the search though. Is the tailshaft seal able to be replaced without removing the tranny? Not related but does anyone sell modified crossmembers for a 72 240 to accept the bw t-5. Looking to save some time over pulling it and having a shoft fabricate something.
