  1. I LOVE THE SPIRIT OF THE l6 NOTHING SOUNDS QUITE LIKE IT
  2. SO i WAS JUST WONDERING, HAS ANYONE ACTUALLY DONE THIS TO AN L28ET? I HAVE BEEN FABRICATING A TWIN TURBO KIT FOR MY 280Z. 83' TURBO BLOCK AND HEAD. MODIFIED BOB SHARP RACING INTAKE MANIFOLD, HOLLEY 650 CARB AND 6-1 EQUAL LENGTH N/A HEADER. THE PLAN IS TO LOOP AROUND THE BELL HOUSING AND COME BACK UP THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE MOTOR. ONCE INSIDE THE ENGINE BAY THE PIPE Y'S AND I WILL BE MOUNTING 2 TDO5H ECLIPSE TURBO'S. PLAN ON PUSHING THROUGH THE LARGE HOLE IN RAD SUPPORT ON PASSENGER SIDE TO FMIC AND BACK THROUGH THE OTHER SIDE WHERE THE MAF USED TO SIT, TWIN BOV'S AND A 3" INLET ON THE BONNET..... I AM ABOUT 75% DONE AND AM READY TO MOUNT THE TURBO'S. ANY INPUT? SOMETHING TO LOOK OUT FOR? ANYTHING? THANX.
  3. Yep,... this particular 260 has both an inline pump at the back, and then the MFP on the head. I doo have a block off plate. And I tried to install the MFP on my L28/N42. it dosent seem like it wants to go all the way in there.??? like a 1/2 inch away. anyways, checked the electric pump and got it working. f/p relay is bad so had to run a jumper wire. It pumps, but nothing comes out! also there is some sort of vent hose on the drivers side, on the very rear of the tank, that just spews gas out of it. this beautiful car sat since 1993 in north west washington. needless to say I have some work to do. was wondering if the damper like object next to the fuel pump, and in line with it, would be stoping the pump from being anything more than a helper pump? my 280 uses the same pump... no thingy...... ???
  4. also any segestions for a carb? im running a 390 holley on a bob sharp racing manifold, six to one equal length header. just seems like there is more power there that im not tapping into...
  5. lol yep hell of a work out! and the pushing and pulling senario sound logical. thanx
  6. 72 240z 74 260z 76 280z 2+2 81 208zx 87 z31

  7. sweet. is there the same rubber fuel lines off the bottom of the tank in the 260 as the 280? or could i mount the electric fuel pump in the engine bay, (is that even posible?) lol ... it sure would be easier.
  8. Ok, I just aquired a 1974 260z. unforuntunately, the engine had no compression on cylinders 1 or 2...... long story short, I pulled the carbed L28 out of my 1976 280z 2+2, and droped her in. My question is, can i use the M/f/p off the L26/E88 on my l28/n42? did the cam gear still have the eccentric lobe on the front of it? If this solves anything for me, it will be saving a good valve cover gasket and not destroying it just to look. thanx in advance
  9. I have a 1987 z31 2+2. M/T, its all stock, it has sat for 3 years. i did actually have this car running a month ago, for one day. and it ran exelent! the next it start, but die shortly after (5 or 10 sec). ive probably got 90 man hours into diagnosis time in this space ship..... gone through and fixed every thing that the eccs unit blinked out. including fuel pump circuit, cylinder head temp sensor, fuel temperature circuit, ignition signal problem, and the TPS MAF ECCS unit change, distributer/cranksensor, even rolled it over to TDC just to check..... anyways the Z reads no monitored system faults....#55 in the ECCS.. so im lost ... car starts, and dies will not stay running! also checked entire fuel system, fuel pressure and even changed the pump. i am definiatly OPEN FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS... thanx
  10. disconnected wiper circuit, now have injector pulse, car is dumping to much fuel, wont start, MAF??? fuel temp sensor? pressure regulator?
  11. 1987 n/a 300zx, does the ECM need ignition signal to create injector pulse?
  12. the noid light was the first test i did, i believe that i may have found the problem,...... the ignition signal wire to ECM is shorted out to the wiper motor wiring. i unpluged 20-pin connector at ecu and and checked the resistance in the ignition wire-s pin #3 and #5, both should show no continuity. pin #3 had 68.7 ohm on 200 ohm scale. further more i relized that the wiper motor was disconnected., pluged it in----- turned it over and wipers came on........... does ECU need ignition signal to pulse the injectors? would this shorted condition also effect spark quality?
  13. i have gone through the entire FSM from xenon.com i cant find anything that specifies what the computer uses ( as far as a sensor) to control injector pulse width, and activation......... stumped...... changed distributer in hopes of it being the crank sensor.... no difference, have battery voltage at all red wires on injectors when car is on. i believe the ECU controls the injectors through the ground side..... could the ECU be my problem? does anyone know which ECUs are interchangable throughout the years z31 was produced? i am a certified auto electric technician, AND IM BAFFLED.... i figured that if there is a GURU for this car he would be on here.. thanx
  14. hey i just purchesed this car. 1987 300zx 2+2 T-tops 5 speed. it has'nt ran for about 3 years. there is a couple of problems, the alarm system has locked out the starter, i tried disconnecting the anti-theft sub-control module, no difference. with the key on, i can jump the starter with a screw driver, it turns over, but does not start. i have spark, and i have fuel flowing through the rail and pressure regulator. ive checked the return line, and its not plugged either. so....... i used a simple LED and checked my injector pulse, blinked one time......... eccs control module displays codes 22,(fuel pump circuit problem)... code 13,(cylinder head temp sensor)and code 41( fuel temp sensor). im at a loss ive done all the checks that i can find. if someone has some insight i would greatly appreciate it.
  15. rotate your engine by hand, watch untill the 2 rockers of cyl-#6 start to rock oppisite, you should be at TDC #1cyl,make sure that your crank is dailed to zero on the damper pulley and there should be a radial mark on the face of the damper pulley. there should be two chrome links in that timing chain. the 1 2 and 3 marks on the cam gear are timing adjustment marks to make up in slack for stretched cains, anyways---- between those two chrome links is a specified amount of links. set one to the radial line and set the other to mark one on the cam. i think (not to sure) 14 links to mark one. and your rotor looks to be about a tooth off, to far clockwise. ( please dont quote my memory---- its not the best!)
  16. yea that helps, any great wisdom on how to pump up the vg30 ?
  17. is anybody familiar whith this thing????/ infinti m30
  18. just currious if anyone knows if the vh45 will mount to stock 5 speed in z31???
  19. I am a dedicated z car nut. i have 6 of them. then this thing.... the f31 uses the same vg30e engine as the n/a Z31, im using a 5 speed 87' Z31 trans, and a r200 diff. i believe it to be welded, it jumps when you turn. the rear diff is humming really bad, it sounds to be the pinion bearings. so here is my question....... is the r200 in my F31 the same spline and mounting as a Z31? and are they rebuildable after the bearings have been comprimised?
  20. does it come up just fine, then abruptly come to a peak..... then "chug" or bog back down to idle speed, and is it at the same place on your RPMs every time?
  21. mass air flow circuit, or sensor could have been damaged. do you have a cold air intake thats very close to your MAF sensor? you could always read the lights on your computer.
  22. this is initaial oil priming after rebuild. had to use a 1972 240z oil pump .... could that be the cause???
