Heat advisory today, and I believe it, damn it’s hot. Started off replacing studs with APR extended studs then attaching 370Z wheel bearings to the custom spindle, did all that in the AC. Then to the outside, unboxed all the front suspension and got subframe, new plate for control arms and upper control arms up. Stupid plate was near impossible to install. It’s perfectly shaped to frame, bolt holes don’t align when carriage bolts are up, and plate doesn’t align and fit on when carriage bolts are down. Took forever halfway adjusting it, having my dad tap carriage bolts from top while I’m holding and aligning from bottom. Nightmare, but finally got it on. Hopefully the rest will go smoother. Did I mention I’m exhausted

All painted. Going to do another coat of semigloss for the engine bay, but frame/fenders are ready for suspension 😁 I’m hoping to start next weekend

Got more goodies in, front and rear bad dog frame rails and a steering wheel mount for my Holley digital dash. Not sure if I’ll use it, but think it’s a viable option.

Did final scrapping and cleaning of engine bar and fender area. Dried and going to get first coat of paint on today or tomorrow.

Got on the wire wheel and went to town on the engine bay and front fender wells, prepping for paint. Need to wash it down and go over it one more time. Test painted a few spots. Also got the fender braces on, but not fully welded. Started getting a hole in the body panel, so decided to tac it and fully welded it later after some more practice, probably start practicing tig, need some gas first.

Going with a holley digital dash, this offered a blank canvas.

Nice, cool to see you didn’t waste your time making that video. Probably running 325s on the rear, and maybe even all around (still a lot of time before I need to decide on that), I’ll need those wide fenders to fit all that rubber.

Started cutting on the dash to see how it will fit, roll cage goes through it. Now I need to mock up the digital gauge display and see how it will fit. Displays is bigger than dash think it needs to Poké above dash as steering column looks to sit too close below. Too hot out, done for the day.

Started learning to weld, here’s my first tries last weekend and through today, about ready to weld on the car. Going to practice on some thinner stuff first to get more practice.

I’m new to this platform so I don’t know anything, lol, appreciate the advice. I’ll add some bracing. I’m planning to run some big sticky tires up front, figured the assistance would be needed, this system has a dial to vary the level of assistance. We’ll see, can always switch back, I’ll hold onto the existing column for a bit just in case.

Got the steering column off and cleaned up a little bit. I’ll get the new electric power steering on soon, looks simple enough.

I don’t mess with Facebook/Instagram too much, just post occasionally, but I certainly don’t go there for technical info, that’s what the forums are for. Is there a way to get the forum hosted or accessed through an app? For example I access the370Z.com through the app Tapatalk and not the web.

Got the dash out. New dash is going to take some cutting to fit with the roll cage.

Thanks for the tip, tbh I was probably going to toss it. I haven’t been having much luck selling anything coming of the Z and don’t have much room in the garage. Only stuff I’ve sold has been off the 302 engine such as carbs and headers. I’ll make a spot and hang onto it.

Subframe and steering rack are out

Thanks. I’m certainly no pro driver so maybe a little less ultimate track car build. Definitely want fun, safe and reliable. But I’m trying to build the best thing I can, no cutting corners when it comes to performance. So trying to put in a solid racing suspension, brakes wheels/tires and a good amount of horsepower.

Yep, dash is coming out, and wasn’t expecting to be under there too much yet, lol. It’s getting hot in Florida, already in the 90s, so I’ll be working on the new dash soon and fitting my digital gauges to it inside the nice cool house shortly 😁

Got brake and clutch master cylinders off, and booster off. Booster bolts were a pain. I hate working under the dash area. Need to clean up a few more things then wash and prep engine bay for paint.

Car had a cage already when I bought it. I’ve got a front strut brace that also ties into the firewall (apex), and braces on the inside of the fenders I’ll be welding on soon (apex also). Debating whether I need to beef up the frame rail or not since I’ve got the cage. Below is a pic when I bought it last year that shows the cage a little.

Got the front suspension and sway bar off today. Fought me a little bit, but impact helped a lot and had to take a sawzall to the toe arms, but it’s all out.

I’m hoping to get some work done on the car this weekend. So close to being done with tearing stuff down and ready to add stuff. Just got this dual master cylinder kit that I hope I can make work. It’ll let me adjust front/rear brake bias in the car.
