  1. Zhadman.........looking forward to meeting up with you next week and I think your cars coming along great too.

Hopefully this posting will catch those of you who want to join us for a small HB-Z get together ( whether or not you drive one there doesent matter at all)

So pm or email me your phone #'s so I can call you when this gets closer to the right nite/day for all.

    Hope it works out...........Vinny

You asked if anyone is interested, I'd have to ask, who isn't interested?!

That sounds like one hell of an involved project. The metal fab in widening an entire car is super labor intensive and the work must be done with care and precision.

I would really like to see some pics and am curious if anyone has completed the AWD swap without putting the RB towers into the 240z body ala the foreign sites...

    TR[/quote']

At the time of that writing/typing I had no verbal agreement with Dave and Art of Z SPort Mag. regarding the project details and images.

I do now, so all I will say is that the sheet metal fab work is indeed challenging and not as simple as dropping in other sheet metal from a donar car an "Walah "....widened Z. It requires much more than that. Two styles of jigs working together, a very detailed premeasured schematic of old and new measurements for pick-up points and structure.

There are several ways to skin a cat but I'm going about this in ways that reveal several factors and goals.....not just to be RB powered and AWD and wide.

I essentually want to provide the designs and final product that I had ALWAYS felt the S30 would evolve into if the original folks were still aggressively trying to re-introduce the Z into todays market and be on top.

So the RB-Z awd Widebody is really going to be nothing more than my vision coming to life.

If I do my craft well, and manage to be satisfied when done....I'll smile...and probably never build another car due to the exhausting nature of this project.

There's more to life than these damn cars........I just havent got ahold of it yet.

    ..............Vinny

  3. Why don't we just try to setup a time and place for people to get together? I was thinking of next Friday November 25th at Dave n' Busters in Ontario. Late afternoon or early evening (I have the day off). Maybe we can checkout Zhadman's RBZ as well.

    What do you think?

Sounds doable to me. It appears about 5-8 of us could possibly meet up as long as no ones schedule drops a bomb.I'll def bring my digital camera. Its been awhile since I met up with any HB-Z crew.....well except for Dsommer and Pounds909 !

It has been a year or more when I met All the HB-Z guys in Rio Vista ! Cool bunch of Zer's.........yes, even Auxillery too !

One of these days I'd like to go South and meet the Va., N.C.,La.,etc. guys. They are deffinatly a passionate group......right Joel, JamieT,JamesT ??

I've got some of your phone #'s. If you plan on trying to make it.......Pm me your Cell# and I'll keep you updated once we're closer.

I'll possibly be without Internet once there due to budget cuts in Hotels. Darn it !

    Vinny

  4. Has anyone tired this swap? I was looking at a 67 Roadster this week and that 4 and the SU carbs just kept making me think about my L20 sitting in the garage from my V-8 Swap...... I can already tell I'd have to get a thinner/relocate the Radiator, Dose anyone know of the mounting or anything is similar?

I put a turbo V/6 VG30 in my 68' roadster instead of one of my turbo L/6's due to the simple fact that an L-series block will set ahead/in front of the crossmember and ruin, for the most part, its already great handling characteristics.

The V/6 actually sat more toward the firewall and the stock old springs raised up about 2" !!

I made new motor mounts and a driveshaft and started on the stainless manifolds .....but alas ,got majorly sidetracked with finishing up the green Z turbo car for a show.

Always consider the handling with swaps !

    Vinny

  5. I'm warning you guys... it's not much to look at right now:

    10006457av.jpg

Well ,looking at your car in 85 degree weather is better than looking at mine here in 25 degree temps...anyday ! lol.

Everyone has to drudge through the build steps.....thats why its ALL good friend. Something for everyone.

    ..............Vinny

  6. You may be right.

It won't be too long before my car will be off the road for a while.

We'll just stand around it and go ""'OOOOh,a Z car " lol.

Sounds fine to me ......always a better pastime than staring at a T.V.

Bart, I'll pm you my number.

Dorifto.....will do. The Topography looks pretty interesting.

    Vinny

  7. I'll hopefully be able to make an afternoon down there early next week' date=' trying to buy a 260Z nearby. Though I don't think I bring much to the table for quality Z tech talk.

    Tyson[/quote']

After reading your signature line I'd say you'll be just fine with the conversation at hand ! I'll pm you my contact number so you can call me when your in town.

    Vinny

  8. I'm going to be @ downey on Thanksgiving weekend. There is a great place to play pool on firestone blvd.I don't know if you are going to the L.A. area if you are,I might be able to make sometime and meet some of the guys too.

Sounds cool ! I'll be working there through Thanksgiving so sure ! Lets make" the more the merrier" ! I haven't shot a game of pool in years....so your guaranteed a win or twelve ! It won't kill me to do some driving.

    Vinny

  9. Thats ok buddy' date=' don't miss em that bad.... I can relate to the story about the smell, anything begins to stink after smelling it constantly...

    Enjoy yourself over there...[/quote']

Oh,hahahaa ! Don't let your women folk hear you say such a remark !! Doh !

Wait........they probably already tell their female friends this anyway ! Lol..........

Thanks Joel...I'll snap some pix later.

    Vinny

  10. Vinny' date=' the borders of Riverside and Ontario meet each other to the east. Where my car is located is only ~15 minutes from Ont.

Hey Marcus... don't forget about Vince's for Spaghetti![/quote']

SWEET ! This will work out great.Looking forward too it .Maybe there are a few more Zers' out there too ??

Joel...."In & Out" burgers ?? I worked a test site next to one for a year and the smell began to make me ill after awhile...lol.I guess I could freeze a couple and ship them out to you L.A.- La. ( Ooooh, smelly) They'd be smelling like a bad batch of Creole before you opened them, gag.

    Vinny

  11. Like I said I would NOT do this but when I have a question I go to the source of knowledge.

Armed with this information I can now explain to the Z31 owner here in town why he should REMOVE the washers from his set up. He's running a Z32 wheel on a Z31 with washers.

There ya go guys' date=' you didn't really think I was going to do this did you? VINCE! Remember twins on the way and I value my life ;)

    David[/quote']

    Whew !!.............I thought so,lol.

    ...............Vinny

  12. Not that I would do this but can somebody explain:

    Why this would not work.

    Would it be dangerous?

Maybe for fenderwell/wheel mock-up ONLY Dave. There's just way too much of a chance of things wiggling free when the surface tension isn't linear across the face of things .

Dangerous is all I see there my friend.Don't do it or I'll visit you with a mean look on my ugly mug.lol.

Use the washers to get a decent spacer needs measurement and I'll see what we can work up on the mill and lathe if there's no pre-made spacers that will work.

I would think we could find some widths thicker than you need and we could save some time and simply trim them down to your specs ??

    Vinny

  13. I'm in Ontario all the time! Spent some time growing up there and lived there as recently as 6 months ago. My RBZ is in Riverside (which isn't that far away). I'll meet up with ya!

Thanks Marcus........I'll check them out, I love Mex !

Zhadman........cool,I'll pm you my cell # and we'll see about getting together. We can chat about our RB-Z builds or even check yours out too ??How far is Riverside from Ontario ?

    ...............Vinny

  14. Hey guys,

Just checking to see if any of you live near or in the Ontario Cali. area and would like to meet up to talk Z's ??

I'll be there from the 21st of this month til Dec. ist. I have to oversee a C.A.R.B. test site located on a Walmart/Sams club property for those two weeks.

If anyone is interested, feel free to email me at ( vinceinatorz@hotmail.com).

Even if you don't want to meet up, perhaps you'll clue me in on things to do locally if I get some time to spare ?

    Thanks,looking forward to any replys'.

  15. Yes that IS some Pro work right there boys ! It appears they refer tho using back gas or purge gas for the ports while fill-welding the chambers etc. Then that it has a 11.5 compression ratio without a 1mm headgasket.....12.0 if you DO use it.OR....perhaps the amount to be resurfaced or milled off the combustion face.Best I can tell........they are offering this as a service NOT as a HEAD for sale. They refer several times to the differences or optional steps and the change made from this as well as the fee's.

Killer NA head for the proper cam for certain.

    Vinny 8)

  16. No...... say it ain't so.... please, say it ain't so.... :banghead:

WELL.....hopefully ,once the Japanimal is done and tuned ....any ricer jokes will subside ! I'll need to FEED it ricers and fisheads to keep her motivated...lol.

It will be encouraging to see some weight and 1/4 mile times from the rear wheel cars as they begin to surface more and more so I'll have a baseline to aim for.

It seems as though more and more RB-Z's hp goals are heading towards the 700hp mark like I was. Sounds like I'll own the 60' mark ,but I'll have to be pretty light or add more than 700hp to be top dog at any RB-Z competition.

    Geez..........more money still yet !Endless.

    Vinny

P.S.- Joel .......you owe me a wild ride in your RB-Z just because ! lol..8)

  17. You know what? I really wish people would just drop the whole AWD Z thing. The idea is just plain insanity. Vin is going to do it SOMEDAY. He is WIDENING the car! Not putting flairs on... He is SPLITTING THE ROOF. The Skyline and the S30 are TOO different to even CONSIDER it. It's more for a Monster Garage episode than anything realistic. What would be the point of it anyway? RWD is fine. Are you going to drive it in the snow? The S30 hooks up so well already that AWD would just be more weight and more headache' date=' but it would surely get you a feature article in Super Street, YO! Maybe even a "fold-out" with a super hot asian chic leaning on it. You'd be like ... A pin-up!

Ricers will follow you EVERYWHERE. You would be the man!

Stony, sorry for the rant. It seems like the people who post the rediculous idea of AWD Z's(particularly GT-R conversions) are newbie ricers with no talent. Please delete this post if you think I crossed a line.[/quote']

.............Could be the man !! LOL.......thats good, cause these days I feel like the WOMAN......all bloody and bitchy ! LOL....

Jaime is right though......it is a rather insane approach in order to get big horsepower and traction too. The S30 platform isn't REALLy condusive for such an undertaking. I'm only doing it because I have ALWAYS invisioned my Z as being much wider (minus flaring only) and having the crossflow twin power of an RB. The AWD portion of the equation simply takes place because I knew in advance the wider body COULD fit and begin accept the massive AWD componets. And since I was making all bolt-on panels and interior from Carbon Fiber, the added weight from the caged chasis and AWD drivetrain was of no real bother to me.

I could have been DONE 2 years ago and had a large sum of money in my account had I gone Rear wheel drive.......and I knew that going in.

But NO turning back now........there is NO reversing what steps I've done thus far...........and NO , I'm not posting any pix yet ! Sorry.I've been logging it step by step for future release all at once because its so....erm, weird and unusual.I wouldn't call it Top Secret or anything stupid like that.......I just don't have the time for the endless questions and emails that come from it.

In most days.....I envey the guys who are already DRIVING their RB-Zs by tackling the more sensible swap of rear drive and ENJOYING the NOW!

I know of several AWD swap attempts going on in the country right now in various NISSANS that have been abondoned or stalled to end due to the many unforseen issues etc

Like I told them prior..........Knock yourself out and best of luck showing all your skills at once !!lol.

Jaime......you owe me a spirited ride in your RB-Z now that you have suggested that I might be a Ricer King or some crap....lol.Why I oughta'.........

  18. Well guys' date=' I'm ashamed to say it but I got burned on that deal for the RB26 long block....

Some puke hacked that poor womans account and beat this dumba$$ for $923....

Long story thats still playing out, but bottom line is I was a dumba$$ for sending a cashiers check with no protection...[/quote']

Man I wish you were kidding Joel................thats so wrong ! I'm steaming mad to think of this twerp getting away with it. I have had the same thing happen once but it was for much less........but he still got his "up and comings".

I hope you manage to recoupe in some way while keeping your goals steady.

    Vinny

  19. :? I'm that guy who had to pay a shop 10 hrs to fit the so-called bolt-on g-nose to his car. It wasn't just grinding, they had to cut and add a section in the front to make it fit right. Plus there were no bolts to connect it to the fenders, they had to be epoxied in. Does look great however. Now, if I can only get the hinges completed. Hinges are NLA as are the chrome trim and headlight covers. I was told if I was to find them that I could expect to pay upwards of $1,000. for a set.

    You'll find new Hinges for G-noses here ............(http://baddogparts.com/index.htm )

    Ken....

As far as the MSA nose goes ( app.700.00$ shipped)........My friend Brian and I fitted his up and found it required about 30 hours of attatching and reinforcing and re attaching ....then LOTS of body line building to correct all the misfittments there were.

Its obvious they don't have a Z car to test fit their parts once pulled from the mold and then they attach they're mounting flanges.Or they would have caught this long ago before shipping them out.

I'm building mine from steel to avoid all the problems......then I'll build the mold.( ..and yes Mikelly, it will take 10 months or more !) lol.

    Vinny 8)

  20. J Taylor,

That car would cover the parts for many rare composite parts I plan to produce. If you don't HAVE to have it,I'd certainly put the poor Z to future family usefulness .It would contain (besides Bay mud) several RHD mold parts and the body kit too.I could always arrange some monies for you if it needed to be picked up immediatly.I'm in lower Missouri.Let me know so a bunch of us don't drive the price to the moon in the final hours.
