  1. It's time to start working on this again, still need some closeup pics of cover installed. Side and wheel area. Thanks!
  2. As for part of your question, 280zx panels do not fit the s30 cars: 240,260 or 280Z. Also the panels between the coupe and the 2+2 models are slightly different. Someone else will have to chime in about the 240-260-280 swaps, I think most are the same but not sure.
  3. Can someone please post some close up pics of your type II rear cover installed. Interested in the side and wheel well portion. Top down on side would be nice. Been working on mine off and on for a few hours, just can't get it to fit. I have trimmed some of the side, but dont want to trim too much. I realize that mine wont be exactly the same but I need a little guidance. Also how far in did you have to push the bumper shocks? Mine seems like they need to be in all the way for it to fit. Thanks!
  4. click the above link in the top post for more pictures.
  5. They are sprayed on. The instructions are on this page: http://www.donjer.com/howto.htm I used the mini-flocker applicator.
  6. What size wheels do you think provide the best overall look and ride for a stock suspension height 280ZX. 14",15"16"or17"
  7. Since the headliner came out so good, I decided to also flock the two upper rubber trim pieces. They were faded and looked pretty bad. I still had lots of flocking fibers left, but none of the adhesive. I learned that the adhesive is really nothing more than color matched acrylic paint. Went to the local home store and got 1 qt of flat black for about $8.00. Here is a closeup of the results. The flash makes it brighter than actually is but shows the texture well. This flocking stuff is really easy and I like the results. The only other part I think I would like to do is the rear drivers side compartment panel.
  8. Motorsport has the various 4 lug Konig wheels for $100.00 off normal price. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/WWC19 Wasn't sure where to post this, sorry if in wrong place.
  9. Just received today, part #50-1478, ordered about 11 days ago. It was delivered Fedex ground in a huge box. Seems to be in real nice condition, don't see any visible cracks/chips or other defects. The sides were bubble wrapped. I know there will be work to get it to match the nuances of my Z. Here are some photos for the curious. Also a picture of the instructions. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2533/3876103608_c6f9c1e978_b.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2613/3875311893_765f165227_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3493/3875310661_9bc9c29581_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3498/3875310503_2b5a22741e_b.jpg
  10. Thanks for the reply, wish I knew that last week. I had all the back interior out for other things, then took a good day fighting to get it all back together. There's no way I'm ready to go thru that again I'll keep this in mind for later. For now I'll just try to work around it.
  11. "Bump" Any ideas! Don't want to ruin it, doing it the wrong way.
  12. I'm almost positive you can get them for the s130, maybe not the s30, anyone know?
  13. I read once that you could remove the rear seats and install the rear floor storage panel from a 2 seater. The mounting holes are supposed to already be there. Has anyone doen this or have pictures/more information? Does it look factory when done? I may like to do this. My rear seats don't get used and they stay folded down anyhow. I was thinking about creating something to take the place of the seats, but this seams easier.
  14. Ordered from here:http://www.donjer.com/ I used the enhanced nylon kit for $41.00, it lets you get 2 3oz bags of fibers, I got both bags in black. Only used about 25% of the fibers, but almost all the black adhesive. Should be enough adhesive to cover about 50 sq ft, but my headliner board was not properly sealed and it absorbed almost all the adhesive, and I also used more than was needed. I am also thinking about flocking the rubber trim pieces that go along the bottom edge of the headliner. This would be a great way to change interior color on parts that would not be handled or abused much.
  15. Here is the Velcro I used, but got from Home Depot, about $27.00 http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=204620920&listingid=42483307 Maybe don't need 2" wide, it's just what I had. Home Depot also has it in 4' lengths. about $7.00
  16. What you are experiencing is very common. I was reading threads a few days ago about fenders, Black Dragons fenders were mentioned a few times as not fitting well, as were many other aftermarket fenders. Seems the best ones to get is to order from Nissan, they are more expensive but come with a lifetime no rust warranty. That said, with a little work, I'm sure you'll be able to get that fender to fit.
  17. Was trying to put my drivers side door panel back on today and was having a hard time getting the new clips to stay locked in place. They kept popping out and the mounting holes for them on the panel had seen better days, they were wore out and a few were tore. I looked over at my shelf and found a roll of 2" wide industrial strength Velcro that I had bought for another project. I cut the pieces to length and placed it on the the door in a u shape, sides and bottom. Left the 2 sides of the velcro stuck together, put the panel up and installed the panel trim parts to ensure proper alignment. The I reached behind the panel and removed the backing form the Velcro. Pressed the panel to the door for a while, and it sticks like a dream. I was afraid there might be a gap, due to thickness of the velcro. But it is no more noticable then with the clips, maybe even less so, since the whole outside of the panel is stuck instead of just a few points. Looks really good, anyone else try this? I wonder how it will hold up over time, maybe come loose eventually due to heat? Time will tell.
  18. Here are some pictures I just took, The camera flash makes the headliner look brighter but it is actually the same color as the visors, lights ect...So there isn't the contrast as the pictures show.
  19. Correct, 280ZX 2+2, The flocking fibers were applied directly on the headliner backing board.
  20. Looking for drivers side rear panel for a 2+2,the panel that has the compartment in it, color or condition of vinyl covering does not matter as long as the base panel is in good conditon. terrya64@gmail.com
  21. Got the headliner installed back in the car, It looks better than expected. Will take picture of it installed when I get a chance.
  22. LOL, thats funny as hell, I was explaining flocking to a few guys at work today, and one of them mentioned doing it to a whole car.
  23. Got the headliner done! flocked in black. It came out really nice. I will have to experiment with some sound deadner padding above the headliner to make up for it now being a little thinner than before, since the old vinyl was foam backed. Only took about 25 minutes to do once I had the board prepped, all old material removed and board scuffed up a little and I gave it a quick spray of black paint. I had 6 ounces of flocking material and 2 small cans of the black adhesive, enough to do 30 sq ft. You are supposed to put on the adhesive and you have 10-15 minutes from the time you start to get the flocking down, while the adhesive is still tacky. I had thought the black paint I had sprayed on would help seal the board, but it sucked in the adhesive like a sponge and by the time I had the board covered my 15 minutes were almost up and I had yet to lay down any flocking. I decided to give it another coat of adhesive, this time it went much faster, since it had absorbed and sealed with all the adhesive I put down the first time. Spraying on the flocking fibers took about 5 minutes. They tell you in the instructions to not be afraid to use too much. I probably sprayed on enough to cover 15 sq ft. Wanted to make sure every spot was covered well. I let it sit about 24 hours and then stood it on edge on a plastic drop cloth and lightly tapped on the back to cause all the flocking that didn't stick to the board to drop off. I reclaimed enough to do about 10 sq ft. There you have it, my flocking experiment. Really happy with the results, no more vinyl to ever sag on my head. I'll let it cure a few more days before trying to install it. Lessons learned: Due to the time constraints, on big pieces use a helper, and maybe a roller instead of a brush. Have porous materials properly sealed before starting. For those that don't know what flocking is,http://www.donjer.com/ One more thing, the adhesive is the same color as the color flocking you decide to use.
