  1. So I was sifting through the wicks aircraft supply catalogue and came accross these... http://www.wicksaircraft.com/catalog/product_detail.php/pid=8652~subid=7050/index.html Maybe not the ideal radius, but they could be easily integrated into a plenum or something and are cheap. Thoughts?
  2. Some of you may have already seen this...helps to explain different crank layouts. http://www.e31.net/engines_e.html
  3. Anyone have any more information on Audi V8's? Could be a candidate. http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/pts/568306354.html
  4. So far I think the G35x drivetrain looks the like the best option. Front DS on the pass side, forward mounted front shafts, light weight compared to a truck based system, already mated to a wicked VQ35. I think they only came in auto though, and im not sure about the electrical hoops youd have to jump through.
  5. Another one I cant believe I just thought of...my parents have a Toyota Previa All-Trac 5spd. Since the engine (longitudinally mounted) is under the seats, the front driveshafts must come out in front of the engine which is very rare. Most of the setups like the audi and subaru hang the engine way over the front wheels which sucks for a Z. That being said, the engine is also laying on its side under there so who knows if could be made to work at all. I cant find any pics of the exact layout but I'll look under the van this weekend to see whats up.
  6. E30 BMWs came as a 325ix in the late '80s...no electronics there. Hmmm smooth bmw I6 with AWD... http://www.garlington.biz/Ray/BMW/325ixDriveTrain.pdf Edit: Also note that the bmw system uses a separate transfer case with just one ratio and viscous coupler split 63/37...
  7. Some more pictures here http://www.functiontuned.com/customers-juan.php
  8. What about an Audi Quattro trans/front axles etc. With a short engine hanging over the front wheels it might work. Or drivetrain from a G35X...VQ35 and AWD
  9. Firstly, amazing work man. I loved your car with the L28 and I love it even more with the VQ. Secondly, you have probably already looked through this, but in case you havnt, and to anyone else looking into this swap, there is a guy putting a VQ35 into an S13 with all the stock wiring/computers. He is a Nissan/Infinity tech and seems to know the systems in and out so he could be a valuable resource. His thread here: http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=207033&page=1 Ideally, I would like to do this swap but the initial price of the engine and the insane wireing (or $$$ for a standalone that will run all the thing) is outta my league. Best of luck!
  10. Ok couldnt resist posting some of my faves. Small high revving V8...and twin turbo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJzwQCsy2fs&feature=related Carrera GT V10 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdePhx9HVjo&feature=related Countach http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foDcLUhUKqI And the most beautiful hair raising exh note IMO the BRM V16 600hp out of 1.5L (yes a 1500cc V16) in 1951
  11. A car i cant belive no one has posted especially considering the Datsun connection...designed by Pete Brock and IMO absolutely gorgeous. And the superformance replica
  12. Definately interested in buying a ticket but one question first. Whats the deal with shipping this motor to the winner? Does the raffle pay for that as well or is it the resposibility of the winner? Thanks for representing the Z-world out there in TV land, win or lose!
  13. So you want a straight 6 with a reliable 300hp...ummm....helloooo people...L28et... pallnet is doing one as we speak. KA tranny is even easily adaptable to the L28. surprised im the first to mention it.
  14. Great thread guys...i thought id chime in as, like vvillium3, i am also thinking of making my own intake manifold. To answer a couple of your questions vvillium3, there have been a couple of centre TB manifolds out there, and ideally the air horn radius should be equal to the redius of the runner. As for the runner taper, length, and plenum size, those are all things i am still wondering about myself. Phillip aka Blue, has just started an intake design forum on his clubs webpage and there is some great info over there already with lots of pics if anybody is interested. my name is ktzed over there, check it out. http://www.atlanticz.ca/forum/viewforum.php?f=25 As most of this intake talk is geard towards N/A and i am doing a turbo swap, i was wondering what is required for an ideal turbo intake as compared to N/A. are certain things less/more crucial (runner length/taper, ITB vs single TB, plenum size) when designing a manifold for a turbo engine?
  15. John C sells a complete strut assembly as well http://www.betamotorsports.com/products/index.html
  16. Just read this article about the new BMW 1 Series saying it has the worlds lightest gas 6 cyl engine....also used in the 330i and 630i, it has 258hp and 300Nm (221ft-lbs) of torque. Seems like this engine would be an excellent candidate for swapping into a Z. What does everyone think? here's the article http://www.carpages.co.uk/bmw/bmw-130i-09-02-05.asp?switched=on&echo=102606281 Edit: Now that i think about it, this new engine cant be all that different from the previous generation (E46?) engines...has anyone thought of putting a newer M3 engine in a Z? 330 hp and lots of torque...that would be an awesome swap IMO.
  17. I read some talk of this engine a while ago but i dont think anything specific was posted so for those of you who are interested, here it is. http://www.powertecracing.com/v8_index.php They are also planning to make a 3L version in the near future. The cars these engines will be going in are the Radical SR8 http://www.radicalextremesportscars.com/news_folder/v8/rpa_v8/index.php Their SR3 (1500 cc 4cyl turbo) holds the lap record at the nurburgring (13 sec faster than the previous record) and the V8 one is faster already! Just imagine a 3L one in a 240z.......maybe with 2 turbos....
