  1. Anyone in the Los Angeles area have a wheel polishing shop that they use? I'd like to get my Centerlines polished. Thanks in advance.
  2. I was wondering who was going to the japanese classic car show this saturday? Additionally are there going to be any SR20 Z's at the event? I hope mine will be ready by then, but I'm trying to not get my hopes up. I can't wait to drive my car. I don't want to rush the Vildinis.
  3. I'm glad there's so many SR20DET Z's coming out of the woodwork. It's starting to gain a degree of acceptance. If I had a dollar a few years back for every time that someone said I was crazy for entertaining the idea of a four-banger "downgrade" it could've paid for the swap. Hybrid Z, that's what we all want right?
  4. My 5K is going toward the SR20DET from Vildini. Plus the additional funding from selling my old L28 built by Pierre. I've had a stock L24 in a 73, a L28ET in a 73, and a triple carbed L28 in a 73. I don't know what a 240Z with an SR20 is like, but I'll find out soon... More info when it's done, no pressure Alex.
  5. "Trueschool, do you ever watch BMI? Did you see the "american touge"? One of the cars that was on that episode was a AR86 with a S2k motor & tranny. They all seemed to really like it and hadn't really thought about it." I haven't seen that edition of BMI, but it sounds real interesting.
  6. I've toyed with the idea of swapping that same motor into my old '86 Corolla GT-S. I see more and more S2000's out on the street these days. Getting a wrecked one as a donor may be the way to go. Gas mileage should be amazing around town. I hope you get funding.
  7. Greetings, I've searched and advanced searched the forums for what I thought would be many solutions to my problem... no dice. I am trying to put a front lip on my brothers 1973 240Z. I can see where all the bolts that connect the fenders to the lower valance are. I've gotten two out with some effort (where the fender meets the lower valance closer to the wheel), snapped two bolts (where the fender meets the lower valance closer to the scoops), and stripped (on the engine bay side) the one under/behind the bumper guards on the pass. side. I'm reluctant to try to loosen the other corresponding one. I'm sure plenty of you vets have faced this minor frustration before. I thought I'd ask before I take a large drill bit to this ridiculous bolt.
  8. I've already thought of the weight issue. The whole front end is fiberglass, so it's even lighter than just a 200lb difference. I'll make adjustments as necessary. It's definitely a whole new ball game. I'm open to suggestion. As far as tracks, I intend to test it out at every So. Cal practice possible. -L.
  9. "...they asked if there was more cars like mine out there.... I told them I knew of 4." Make that 5. I'm impressed at the quality I see. The SR swap is becoming more acceptable to the Z community. Much respect to Vildini and Full Race. Any of you Arizona guys coming out to LA for any of the upcoming events?
  10. Isn't there somebody seriously working on a Z using the RB26 with the AWD tranny? At any rate, that is the most extreme Hyundai I've ever seen. I remember when those things were a joke. That AWD Tiburon would shut alot af people up.
  11. Mr. Mortensen, How would the wider track width in front handle in terms of understeer with a thick Suspension Techniques sway bar in front?
  12. I've always thought that the Silvia/180SX/240SX was a more direct descendant to the O.G. S30, moreso than the current 350Z or the 300ZX (Z32) for that matter.
  13. I can't wait for this project to wrap up. I will be on the track real soon.
  14. For Z parts I think it's better to post them up here, Ebay tends to tax a seller like Internal Revenue. Now that I'm going SR20 I have a lot of L-series parts to sell. Keep an eye out in the classifieds.
  15. I hope all my Z brethren are doing well. A few of you know me. I've been out of it as of late. Anyway I am joining the few and proud four bangin Z's out there. SR20DET in my lightweight '73. On that note I have a killer L28 with triple mikunis that I'd like to sell, so check in the classified section soon. I hope to get these photos scanned and such. Peace.
  16. Greetings, I've tried the search function first to no avail. I have a busted R180 in my '73. I need to replace this, and I have access to a R200 LSD. However, I have read before that the R200 from the '87 300ZX with the LSD is not a bolt in operation for the 240Z. Is this true? If so, what will I need to make this happen? Or should I just replace it with a R280 or R200 from a 70's model? If anyone can answer this or at lest post a link to more info, I would graetly appreciate it. Thanks!
  17. So a non LSD 240 can consistently spin both wheels in a burnout box? I'm trying to determine whether or not I'll need another diff( I'm assuming that I have a R180 but I'm not sure). All my previous vehicles (open diff) peglegged when burning rubber. My 240 has consistently left two nice patches of pirrelli on the ground upon burnout. I'm curious. If I jack the rear wheels off the ground and turn one of the drive wheels, which way should the opposing wheel spin if I have a lsd? It's probably just wishful thinking, but it would be nice to find out that I have an lsd in there. Thanks for all your input!
  18. Hey everyone! Is it possible to lay down two strips of rubber when peeling out without a limited slip diff.? Any insight from you vets will be greatly appreciated. thanks!
  19. Greetings, Just thought I'd check in. I finally registered here on HybridZ.org, I've been reading numerous posts for over a year now. Thanks to everyone who posts here, it has been very helpful in my project(s). I've never been to any of the gatherings held by the soCal members, but I would like to start. Thanks!
