  1. Josh, Sorry to hear about your situation with the seat... However, I'm happy to report that I DID NOT set Jim M.'s car on Fire... I farmed that work out to a shop locally and THEY set his car on fire... Express Auto in Fredericksburg, Va... Not Mike Kelly Fabrications Inc. I do NOT want that dubious honor! Safety first! Mike
  2. Thanks Pop... You stole my thunder... This again shows how manipulated we as a people are by our media... They want you to believe we are on the brink... I've been reading media BS about CHINA for the last 18 years... Much like santa claus and the tooth fairy, I'm still waiting to see what happens... Mike
  3. Again, personal views here, and NOT representative of anything otherwise... Only personal views... Those pollyanna views of how this mess would get "Fixed" in a four year term are insulting and unrealistic... YOUR congress and YOUR senate voted without fail (except for Kennedy and Dean) for a war in which this president spelled out in PLAIN ENGLISH for all to hear and read... this war would not be won in days, weeks, or even months... You people have such short memories, and the sad footnote is that you represent a large populous in America... I'd love to pull out of the middle east, as I've said many many times... And CLOSE OFF the FRIGGIN' Borders... Maybe then everyone would shut the hell up... Oh but wait, no, that wouldn't work either... Because in this pollyanna view on life, everyone would want free border access for all, and in this pollyanna life No bad people hijack planes and fly them into buildings on united states soil, or plan to attack the united states through terrorist means... I don't know what the right answer is... Maybe Bush made one hell of a mess of things... But one thing is for certain... He is the first president we have had in a long friggin' time who has had a back bone and not buckled under political strain to not "DO THE RIGHT THING". He didn't run and stick head in sand and ask for UN guidance/ hand ringing. Obviously the American people thought enough of this one subject alone to KEEP this president employed for another 3.5 years. Get over it. Starting to sound like a bunch of Yankee fans... NEWS FLASH THE BOSTON REDSOX WON THE PENAT and BUSH WON the election... WOW... Such sore losers... Man oh man... get over it. You'll get another chance... I'd vote for him again because he friggin' KILLS bad guys... PERIOD! If a few un-intended casualties get caught in the mix... Oh well, it is the price of war and peace. Don't have the stomach for it? You have a couple of choices... I hear Canada is having a boon on realistate, and I'm sure the French would take those who so much HATE our way of life... The other is to wait three years and campaign your asses off (And michael maybe spend some of that seven figure fortune you're sitting on) and get YOUR candidate elected... But believe me and take this one to the bank... When YOUR candidate is in the hot seat, He or SHE isn't going to turn this mess around any quicker, and based on the recent past 12 years, we won't see justice, but lots more hand ringing... Crazy280, quick question for you... Weapons inspections... HMmmmm... KNow any of the inspectors PERSONALLY? No? OK... SOOOO you got your info on what was and was not the situation with inspections from who? And when? Are we talking about the inspections of 1994-1998? 1999- 2001? Or are we talking about that last feable round of shell gaming Saddam tried??? You only know what has been reported in the press, and not the fact that MANY of the inspectors disagreed with Blix and the UN. Lots of folks complained about how the final report went down, but no one saw it for the politcal tool it was. Real simple... I'll make this real simple... Plain E-N-G-L-I-S-H for everyone here... We gave Saddam (Through the UNITED NATIONS, no less) over 712 chances to OPEN HIS VARIOUS SITES and let us INSPECT them in an EIGHT year period... He changed locations, denied accesses, restricted accesses, and did everything in his power, INCLUDING threatening detention of the inspectors themselves repeatedly from 1994 until 2000.... DID YOU FORGET THAT A CONDITION OF HIS SURRENDER THE FIRST TIME was an agreement TO INSPECTIONS of SITES WE CHOSE? He didn't make the list of sites up... THE UN did... That would be the SAME UNITED NATIONS that members agreed that there was STRONG intelligence to prove that he DID have these programs in FULL SWING... Sooooo lets take it a step further here... Supposing that a terrorist organization that you, Mr. Hussein had knowledge of has struck the United States and YOU Mr. Hussein KNEW that you are already on their (United States) poop list... Don't suppose you'd be trying to get your house in order so you could plead your case to the world of public opinion... And afterall That stupid George Bush gave SOOOOO MANY public warnings months before the initial attacks... MONTHS... Silly boy... What happened in Iraq could be likened to a drug bust in a nice neighborhood where the occupants get a tip that the fuzz is in route... Every comode in the house gets worked furiously to get rid of the substances in question... Saddam's toilet bowls were Syria, Turkey and Iraq... Believe what you will, and come up with whatever excuses for why George Bush should burn in hell, but Saddam Hussein played his cards... May he rott in hell... Mike
  4. Oh I'd not avoid the 94-95 Mustang Gt... if still has the 5.0, which has an abundance of hop up and go fast parts for cheap and gets reaosnable fuel mileage! Mike
  5. Borrow a MC helmet until the end of (Or at least MID) Season this year. The new SA 2005 rated helmets are coming out this year. Also, IF you are driving a car with airbags that can't be turned off, then get an open faced helmet... I'd buy a GForce and save the money... decent price and good quality. Mike
  6. Have I got a deal for you... I know where there is an EXCELLENT deal on a 340+wheel HP 95 Camaro for a steal and the price of a one way ticket to Richmond Internation Airport in Virginia. Contact Jamie T. here off line... He has an awesome t-top 95 6speed camaro with a set of ported heads, cam, headers, pumpin' system and it is CLEAN... Cheap for the money! Otherwise I'm becoming a HUGE fan of BMWs... I'm falling for my wife's 328i! Mike
  7. Hard to tell, but Looking at the pic and thinking back through fog and grey matter, they look an aweful lot like the units I unboxed, test fit to my Z, and then shipped to Mark Icard... They are thin and you can pretty much bend and manipulate at will.... So we know who owns this car? That would give a definative answer! Big flares none the less! Mike
  8. Having had two sets of the VB flares in my hands in the recent past, I can say with pretty good certainty that those ARE the VB metal flares... $700 for four... When I had my discount, notice I say "HAD", they would have run you $600 plus shipping. Mike
  9. So the difference in weight sounds like the weight of the blowproof bellhousing... Not a bad gain if you ask me and certainly worth it... Now I'm set back even more because A: My truck's intake is leaking coolant and will have to be resolved... and B: the Vette has developed a WHINE in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th gears... There is a T56 rebuild in my future... However, This tranny purchase is on Jim M. (I assume, since he was buying the other one for me for work I did) so keep me posted so we can get mine ordered as well... Again, only concern I have is with GForce being involved in ANYTHING in this process... This Tranny is the last "big" ticket item. Mike
  10. Weight on the T5 I got for Jim's car was 83# without the shifter and without any other hardware attached. I don't know what a TKO weighs...That was using a cheap bathroom scale... Who knows how accurate it was... Mike
  11. Hell, Now I'm confused too... I had the TBI setup in my 93 GMC and I"m now driving a 98 Z71 with a completely different setup... But it still has a big old TBI (Or maybe it is just a Throttle body without injectors?) on it... I know the intake is VERY different and is a two piece style with plastic/ nylon on the upper and aluminum on the lower. I know this thing hauls the mail... Plenty of low end grunt, and rolls along at 80mph and 16mpg just fine! Mike
  12. Check these sites as well... Corvetteforum.com LS1tech.com LS1.com These sites all have forsale sections... and you can get deals all the time on them... Mike
  13. Terry, WHEN we ever meet... I'm buying you a bath tub full of beer. You make me grin more and more! Mike
  14. Mikelly

    Sold my Z

VR Joe had one that needed a home out side of Phillie and it was a near free car... I didn't bother calling back, because truth be told, the right offer and mine would have long since made room for a real race car... But then Michael would piss and moan about me talking about (And then actually) selling my Z AGAIN... Remember gone in 60 seconds? MIne would be in MUCh less time... Good luck, and remember, it is about the journey, the ride is just the tool to get you there! Mike
  15. Jaime, Check Ebay... These wheels can be had cheap in your area... I wouldn't pay more than $300 for a set... Mike
  16. Nice rims... Now you just need an air dam on the front of that car! Sweet... Oh, I've got a set of those silver five stars I'll be selling in a few months as well... Soon as I decide on the wheel I will be installing to replace them... those are the Mustang 17X8 GT wheel from 2003. Mike
  17. Make no bones about it, Seting the dyno up, calibrating it, then inputing the data correctly for the given vehicle ALL play into the proper output on the dyno. The data is only as accurate as the input... Bastaad, I hear what you are saying. That setup is VERY limited and all you can hope for is good AFR across the board. Any of you guys doing EFI on THAT turbo setup should really consider going with an alternative to the stock intake and AFM/ TB, and a standalone ECU... I know it is a LOT of coin, but the return is simply 10 fold a better platform for more and more reliable HP! Good Luck! Mike
  18. Uh, I didn't say anything about anyone specifically AND I hold John in very high regard... Don't put words in my mouth. Anyone who posts drivel about how heavy nosed stuffing a V8 in a Datsun in the proper perscribed manor is a maroon, and we've seen our share here, on the IZCC list, and on ZCAR.com. My point stands... And I'm singling No one out... Mike
  19. Magun, I wasn't dinging you on the "Chevys suck" thing or the weight issue. The carbs, well that is where we part company... I've been riding scooters for 15 years longer than you, so I know a thing or three about them as well... You'll come around... It'll just take a while. Mike
  20. This is a warning... I'm gonna start deleting user names and baning IPs when I start seeing DUMB ASSED POSTS like the initial post above... And I know the other admins and moderators are with me on this...We've discussed it in the admin forum and beat the proverbial horse to DEATH! GEX, 54 post count, which means you've been around at least a few weeks, and YOU KNOW BY NOW how we feel about DUMB ASSED QUESTIONS being asked... If you can't help yourself, you will be of no use to us down the road... GEX, You've been warned... This also goes for the "Anyone ever put a SR20DET in a Datsun" the "Anyone ever put a Skyline motor in a Z" and the mother of them all... "which V8 should I put in a Zcar" posts... Some of these members... JEHEEEEZUS H KARYST! Get the point? Mike
  21. There is a tuner locally to me that has the whole DynoJet system, including load control, and the additional packages to similate real world track environments to tune the car to (John Sealock is his name and his shop, Woodbridge Dynotune is listed in the Dynojet Directory on the website)..... Problem is he is dead slow and hellespensive. If you can find someone who has all the extras with the Dynojet, then I'd go spend a fortune and get it right across the board. The other factor to contemplate is WHO you get to tune the car... I'm using Jeff Creech (Also used by the TRIAD ZCAR Club) at Carolina Motor Masters in Durham, NC. The guy is simply SO GOOD at what he does that he flies across the country to tune cars for a living, and is a guest tuner at a LOT of Dyno Shoot-outs throught the country... You want a guy like that who has experience reading the logs, understanding the data, and making the right changes to your setup. As for Dynojet, Mustang, or Dynopack... It is preference and depends on what you are trying to do... Lots of guys (Me included) like to be able to dispell HP claims in general by stating "With XYZ COmbo MY CAR made 123HP on this day, in these conditions and on this dyno... " this helps quell a lot of BS by NOOBs and idiots in parking lots. Other than that, it proves nothing without the GOOD tuner to back up the numbers... When we recently tuned my Vette on a Dyno in Maryland, we got good numbers for my application... Track Day event usage. I wanted the car tuned to MY specific purposes for road race courses... We would have ended up with completely different numbers, had I wanted to go drag racing instead. Without the proper support software and hardware, a Dyno is really NOT that useful, and I'm kinda in line Drax's comments from an application standpoint. Without the ability to similate the environment you plan to use the car in, your just really guessing... Fun, but so is masturbation... and that is a much cheaper way to screw yourself! Have fun! Mike
  22. This is EXCELLENT info that should be stickied... For any MAROON (think Buggs Bunny here!) who thinks installing a V8 into a Zcar upsets the balance, Here's your COLD HARD DATA... Now stand up and applaud or GO POUND SAND! Mike
  23. Chevys suck??? Jesus.... As for the LS1 being SOOOOOO heavy... Do some research before you spout facts you can't confirm. The LS1 is between 80-90 pounds lighter (Depending on where you read it) than a traditional SBC... I'd like to see some weights on the new 4.6 ford modular motor. I'm guessing it is about the weight of an LS1... As for carbs vs. FI... Magnum, you'll eventually come around to our way of thinking on this one... I used to vehemantly defend my 383 stroked Datsun and its BG Demon carb... I used to bragg about how finicky it was to tune and how much power it made of FI "When it was right"... Problem was It had to be tuned by the weather... Not very reliable when you just want to DRIVE the CAR. Current technology efi is dirt cheap to buy, easy to keep tuned, and dead nuts reliable... When you get here, we'll have a beer waiting for you... Until then, your just jets and power valves! Have fun! Mike
  24. I had made the move to sending my bellhousing back and going ith the TKO600... If I can undo this, I'm on board with the T5... But I'd recommend we talk to Tim's source as well ONLY because Gforce is involved with Bruce's sourcing, which is what got Paul C. into trouble in the first place. GForce is supplying all the ASA and Bush teams with stock FIRST. They are focused on sales in large volume to these series and any small numbers get shipped last. Remember, I've been waiting since SEPTEMBER for the second trans. I don't personally want to wait more than 4-6 weeks MAX. Let me know Pete... I'll know if my bellhousing is being swapped out by Express on Monday! Mike
  25. Sportin' A Chubby (aka popNwood), My Vette is bone stock except for the LGM headers and 3inch exxhaust... It is old, tired and beat I guess. Maybe I should just pull it and go through it... Nah! That motor uses NO oil, makes good numbers across the board for compression, and it hammers the track days. As long as I could do a compression check on the used motor, I'd be buying a used motor and not worrying any more about it than about buying any other used motor. As for ground clearance on catalytic converters... The SLP units are very tiny, and the Random Cats are even smaller. I don't think it would be any more of a concern than anything else dealing with putting anything in a Datsun Z... Boils down to preference. But I've got TWO Ls1 projects and a conventional SBC built on a four bolt main block (Just installed the new TCI rattler balancer on it a few minutes ago) and if I could sell the 383 stroker, I'd not batt an eye about putting the LS1 in it. That motor is the future of chevy hotrodding... Mike
