  1. Take a look at this article http://autospeed.drive.com.au/cms/A_0060/article.html it has a fair bit of info on the system that controls the torque split... hopefully it is some help.
  2. I know that with the R32 it used three G-sensors, two measure longitudinal acceleration (ie acceleration and braking) and the other measures lateral acceleration (ie cornering). As cheftrd was saying i think it also uses TPS and some sort of ABS sensor. These all get feed into the 4WD computer to determine the torque to the front wheels.
  3. I've got one of those fans on my 280zx and it works great! Pulls a lot more air through the radiator than the stock setup and gets rid of that annoying noise when you give it a rev. I used a Davies Craig Thermatic Switch as well which means you can control exactly what temp you want it to come on and off at too. Would definitely reccomend it.
  4. Also try checking the spark plugs to see that they aren't fouled up. I don't really know why it happens but the exact same thing happens to me if i let it sit for about a week. I just take the plugs out give them a quick clean then it runs like new again.
  5. You may find the following thread useful as i am looking to do something similar but with a haltech system. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=85567&highlight=sequential+injection
  6. thanks for the reply, i'll try what you've suggested and see if i can finally get it reading correctly
  7. Hey everyone, I've eventually got around to swapping the pinion gear for the speedo after converting my 81zx from auto to manual but now the speedo won't read at all. The gearbox i put in had a red 20 tooth pinion which i have now swapped for a black 17 tooth pinion. I noticed that the black pinion has a smaller diameter than the 20 tooth which i guess would be expected. Should you be able to just take the 20 tooth out and put the 17 in or is there more adjustment needed? Thanks.
  8. the weatherstripping is still in reasonable condition but only as good as you can expect for 23 year old rubber. I'll try having another look at the hinges and see if i can line the doors up again as it says in the manual and hopefully i can fix it...
  9. I've checked for rust and there was a little bit on one of the frame rails but from what i can see it only appeared to have surface rust. The car appears to have had a minor front end hit at some stage although i wouldn't have thought this would be enough to put the allignment of the doors aout badly enough to be the problem??
  10. Thanks joe i'll check it out.
  11. Hey everyone, I've got a problem with the doors on my 1981 280ZX shaking with just about any bump in the road. Whenever you got over a bump a rippled sort of road service the doors shake around a lot more than what i would have thought they should and on the drivers side has even started chipping the paint on the lower door sill from where the door has hit. I've tried playing around with the striker for the latch and the hinges and only slightly improved the problem. Is there something else i should be looking for to get the door to lock more securely into place? Thanks for your help
  12. Hey Everyone, Just wondering if there are any books that you can suggest for information on restoring a 260z. I remeber seeing one around i while ago but i've forgotten what it was called and can't find it again. Thanks
