  1. Well i though our drive was weekend warriors that run 11's. Sorry, my mistake. (please note my sarcasim)

Well, if we're talking street machines, my only worry would be VERY poorly distributed air, forcing a couple of the pistons to carry most of the load. I would think it would take a pretty crappy design to do this.

  2. wow this is one long thred i should have never started reading.

I personally think putting a turbo in the rear is a nice idea, good for some people, just not hardcore people running sub 12 street cars. Now, for the price i'd much rather go with something else. For a little more money you could get a procharger, wich as far as i know the most expensive boosting option available.

For the same amount you could easily build your own set up and i see no problem with that. Clutter in the engine bay :gasp: oh no! Try taking out a turbo b16 our of a delsol every weekend, tearing it apart and putting it back in. After a while it doesn't matter what's in the way, you get used to it and you get good at it. That arguement is for wimps that don't enjoy working on thier car. And the whole noise arguement... at 5psi no turbo is going to be THAT loud comeon' this is pathetic. Turbos need to be running significant amounts of boost to bother you noise wise. A little 5psi boost is maybe a little louder than the motor and it sounds so kewl. And with a V8 odds are your engine would be louder than the turbo anyways. Personally I see no problems with the common turbo setup. But i'll still say that i'm sure this product is perfect, for certain people. That's cool too, everyone has thier own things they like.

Now, i really think intake temp has less performance increase than some of you people think. If your intake manifold is cast iron and you upgrade to and aluminum you'll probly see about a 5% increase in hp. Granted that's alot but it won't make up for the difference of lesser quality of boost from lower temp exhast. But like i said, the people who buy these aren't looking for 600hp motors, so let them have thier fun. It's all good man. Just don't put it on my car ;)

  3. umm, if i wanted a drag quality set up for a track only car i'd pay that price. It seems like they've done thier research and it should perform like a champ. I'd like to see someone make a better produce for $500. Not that i'm saying it can't be done, just not likely. Sure, in supplies you might only spend $500, but i bet by the time it's done you'll we wondering why you started it and wondering how much better it will perform over stock.

The rewards are well worth it. Intake design is one of the main keys to long term racing durability. Keeping your airflow stable is important. I personally would just much rather design an intake with better entry. I'll see if i can sketch something out real quick... brb...

  4. Yea, most SERIOUS dielsel motors with lots of tourque end uo not using 1st gear when not hauling.

I could only see an auto being used though, because a good auto will shift faster than you can, and that little bit will make all the difference with such a small powerband.

  5. the people one this forum range from the most budget happy people to the people that get kicks out of pulling nasa tricks out of thier sleeves. Everything from custom heads, to chop tops, to custom intakes! It's INSANE! You people make me sick.

Looks good though. If I could smog it i'd probly buy it.

  6. I can't remember the name of the company, but it might be one of the 2 mentioned, but they have pretty good deals on insurance. You can get any value on the car you want, and you don't have any milage restrictions, no year restrictions. ONLY restrictions are that it's garaged and isn't drove to work. Other than that they could care less what you do with it.

If it's you're daily driver I'd still think at your age with a perfect driving record you should be able to get a slightlly better deal. Although we go through 21st century in my house, I've come to hate them with the way they handle claims. I was rear ended at a stop light and they want to sit on the phone and talk to me like it was my fault just becuase I'm a minor. Talk about BS. If you like your insurance company, I think it's worth the price.

PS. I found out about this isurance company though 2 guys garage on the speed channel. They had a rep. on the show. If I find the article on thier site i'll post a link.

  7. Hmm. I don't really know much they're woth. So just name a price. No joke. I wasn't going to pull those off but i will now. You mean the crome pice in the center of the roof right?

I've pretty much got all that I want out of it. Once we have a dry day i'm going to take off anything I think could be sold or used in the future with ease, and hopefully have it gone by the end of next week or so.

One thing I must say though. It's much easier to get a car running when you have one that runs right next to it.

  8. Well.... IF i had money and a place to work on it. I'd do SOME motor swap. But as it stands now it's just going to have to be a daily driver for a couple of years. I'll probly do some small upgrades as I get money, but nothing dramatic. First thing on my list is stereo.

  9. Well, it's car domain so it's not the greatest layout. But hey, free hosting that everyone can go see my car. So hear ya go.

I don't have engine pics posted yet but i'm working on it. As of now the newest pic is the dash pic. So you'll know how far i've gotten since I posted this. I hope to be on my second page tonight. Maybe even third.

If you want any shots in particular just let me know. I'll be glad to take some more pics tomarrow. I might also wash my car so I can have some clean overall pics.

  10. Ok, i searched for "antenna" and only got 3 pages of results. And almost all close matched where dealing with power antennas. So please don't scold me and say "Search the Forum you idiot!"

Ok, i want a stubby antenna for my 81ZX. Any ideas on what would fit the stock hole for the power antenna? I won't want to have to deal with enlarging the hole or buying rubber covered washer to make it fit. So has anyone use a stubby from another car? I was thinking of using a bettle antenna. I'll see if i can get the dimensions on those...

  11. Hey, maybe i'll to the track to check the car out. I'm out near richmond (near oakland).

I'll try not to be rude, please take this is my pure curiosity. How high are to taking the rpms off the line? I've heard to really drive supras you have to rev them way up off the line so that once they grip your in boost. As apposed to getting grip soon and bogging down to 2-3k rpm.

Also, i highly recomend doing this REALLY easy resistor mod to make those sequencials turn on at the same time. You'll have like only 2 more HP but supra people report a good 10th off thier time. I wish i had the link to the article but i recentlly formatted my computer. I'll get my buddy to come out with me, he knows a bit about the mod.

ALSO!!! I'll bet that 80% of sub 12 supras are automatics. You'll see it time and time again on supra boards "i can't get my supra into the 11's" I've seen guys with over 550 rwhp that can't hit 11's. The autos in those cars are amazing. I've seen those autos run 9's.

Anyways, just some thoughts. Still man, mid to low 13s for your second time out is still good. It's just like any other car. You have to learn how it wants to be raced. I can't imagine going out first time in a car and running 12s.

Anyhoo, i'll stop typing now. What color is the Z? So that i can reconize it when i get to the track. (Ii'm gonna go look for pics i'm sure you've posted of the swap.)

  12. well, if it were me (wich i might be in a couple of months or so) i would buy a regular cd deck and plug it into the aux in the back, so it would all be hidden. Almost all decks nowdays have an aux recieve in the back. And since alot of decks come with 200W peak power and 75W RMS by 2 channels, there is plenty of power unless you want subs. I'll be going with a pair of infinity kapa sieries 6 inchers that i'll be mounting behind the seats. My car is a 81 ZX, so slightly different set up. I don't know how i want to mount the ipod yet though.

  13. ok, so the o2 sensor what hooked up all along. I'm just blind.

Now, she's starting REALLY ruff in the morning. Takes about a good 5 tries to get her started, although she started just fine this morning first try. It'll get up to about 500 rpm then die. Keep doing this then start and rev to like 2k and fall back to a low idle.

Any ideas? The sensor light on the dash turns on once the car is started. Not the check engine, but the sensor light on the left of the cluster. Anyone know wich sensors this thing is hooked up to?

PS. Anyone in the SF bay area have a first gen z car i can ride in some time? I need to find a local club. I'm thinking if i can fit into one comfotbly i might sell this zx and buy a first gen Z.
