  1. anyone want to take on the challenge of diagraming MSA mounts?
  2. In my personal experience....... I refuse to use a clicker wrench on head bolts. I use the old school needle type cause the click wrech lets of the pressure. When you use the needle type it holds the presure till you let off. Every motor Ive built I used the needle. Each headbolt would tighten to a point .... stop.... then budge just a little more with the constant pressure. I personally believe that re-torque is a compensation for the clickers. My oppinion is partially personal exp. and partial advice from a trusted machinist.
  3. I would use a tilt column out of a Jeep Wrangler. The ones from about 90 to 95 I', sure would look decent because they are basic and have GM wiring. Easy for parts too. I love these columns and may use one myself. Should be cheap to at a bone yard. They have auto tranny columns if needed but the shift indicator is built in I think
  4. sorry if this has been covered but does anyone have access to the MSA mounts for the 240 that would be willing to make a diagram or give some general measurements for. Still exploring some options and want to know how easy it would be to make them or something like them. At a glance they appear very basic and one piece. Hopefully I'll have pics of my convertible to post soon.
  5. From what i remember...... teh tranny's will bolt up but the input shaft is different sizes and you will have much difficulty with clutch plate matching between the 6 disk and the 8 pressure plate.
  6. If you build a any cubic inch small block with the same parts and quality, the horse power will be very close. this big difference will be in the torque. if you don't beleive that, buy desktop dyno and build a vitual motor. you will see that if only the cubes change, the torque will change but hp will stay close. the other reason people like the 327 is hp now. they wind up quicker. if someone here really wants a 327 let me know. i may still have access to a steel crank for a large journal 327. do your homework and dont get the early 327. small jouranl bolts are scary to look at. best bet for a non-gearheaded motor swap...... edelbrock complete crate motor.....quality.....complete....no messing around. jake
