  2. yah.... thanks for replies first of all. it took a few minutes for e to find this post today cause I was looking around in the drivetrain forum. duh. Nevur sayd I was uh jeanious did eye... Jake
  3. hey there. currently homeless as I have sold me place and staying with friend but have my things around 63 ave and Catus in Glendale. I have a book you could look at and a business card for a guy that is awsome. he has a tubbed nasty car with sidepipes and stuff. it just sick. i think his business name is "Spanky's Auto Body". Im sure he's the only spanky's around here. hope so at least. call me anytime for some info 602-206-6701. currently off on most thurs fri and sat. Jake ps: my car is nowhere near done. cool but not close to done
  4. not finding much info on this. i have access to a dana 44 with a 3.73 gear cheap but not sure if it is a waste. how strong are they stock? if i put a bunch of money into axles and gears maybe i should buy a 12 bolt or a 9" instead. anyhow, sbc 400 should push 400-500 hp. car is light... really light, and i am mostly sure i will be using an auto trans. i just got that "back-half" chassis from the classifieds that shoud beef the car up and looks like ladder bars will be used. planning on big sticky tires. any info?
  5. bravo... my jealousy continues. I still dont even have my motor together.
  6. i like the idea. wierd is good. be the first and hope to god it doesnt suck when you are done. I always wanted to use the Q45 drive train front to back in a 240. whatever your pleasure.
  7. i am a little ignorant to the numbers for the numbers but i think i got the idea.... you are saying that basically, a swap of the titan motor should be about the same as doing the motor from Q45 right. motors are internally different but the same mounts and bell housings? biggest reason that may be helpfull is that i was told that a pathfinder five speed would bolt up to the Q45 motor with little trouble and had the same pilot/spline/input size.
  8. was searching posts to see but had no luck on a find yet. much talk about it but wanted to know if this has been tried. i was thinking that a daily driver 240 would be nice with one and the motors should be getting more readily avail by now.
  9. 240Z front clip with cowl hood. all glass except headlight buckets. just thought i would pass on the info. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=34204&item=4558053779&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
  10. personally I think you should get the comp cams polymer intake because it it much more compact and the guys I have talked to here in town love it. It is lighter, disipates heat faster, and is easier to do valve cover R&R when gaskets or rockers need work. Comp cams intake and a cold air kit out to the front through the radiator support...... good mod.
  11. yes.. the embarassment of my car continues... on its jackstands (wheel dollys in my case). stuff like this is motivating. my buddy that i bought the car from, was over and we were discudding the corners to cut for a more speedy completion. its hard to decide what to blow off and what really matters. i couldn't help but laugh about the no front end thing cause that's how mine will look for the first neighborhood pass. tilt front end will be a PITA for the first run for carb tuning a leak checks so i figured on leaving it off.
  12. looks good. looks taller than i expected. figured on a more low-profile fitment. looks sharp with the color matched silicone couplers on the intake piping.
  13. i just called my tranny guy and asked about an auto trans cause I may have to give up on the 5 speed due to money. he said he could make me a 700R4 or a 2004R, either one, for about 1200 bucks with torque converter that will hold up top my 400-500 HP range. The 5 speed was adding up to about 2500 really quick. a properly built 2004R will take quite a beating.
  14. sorry for delay. just saw you post. part sold here in town yesterday. it was a 6.75" chrome one. send me an email and I will help you track one down if you would like. Ebay is teh most likely resource I would use. I bet I could score another within a couple weeks for a similar price.
  15. I have an sfi rated fluid style damper that i would let go for $100. paid about $150 for it and its new in box. never used it cause it is for internal motor and i ended up building a 400 and cant use it. shipping would be about 10-15 range anywhere in the states. not sure hoe that compares with current pricing. i have some pics if interested
  16. http://www.sandersonheaders.com/enginetype/chvysb49eng.htm LOOK HERE FOR SANDERSON HEADERS. BELOW ARE THE THREE I FOUND THAT LOOK USABLE. http://www.sandersonheaders.com/pagesbypartnum/c3.htm http://www.sandersonheaders.com/pagesbypartnum/c32.htm http://www.sandersonheaders.com/pagesbypartnum/c32ap.htm
  17. it sound like S&S is inconsistent at best,,,,, both in building and talking about the product. I am pretty much just done with them. I hope the patriot part fits. I will have to double check to see if I can find the sanderson parts again.
  18. i dont have the skills. otherwise i would love to. looked at some hooker slip on collectors in the latest jegs mag that would be nice. still dont have the skills to get the bends welded up though. i may be able to get it mocked and tacked i guess.
  19. was that metalic blue Z actaully a 240SX with Z front clip or what the heck. i thought it looked kinda cool cause of the sleek top/window thing it had going on.
  20. which setup did you go with and how much would i expect to pay for one?
  21. i am not familiar with the ram air box we are talking about. is it the one o have seen that is black wrinkle finish with two inlets for ducting? where do i find one to price compare?
  22. duh. didn't even think about doing a search for this sort of thing. thanks. pm has been sent
  23. this was my thought as well. leave the filter out and run a cone filter up front.
  24. hi there. my name indicates that i still have no 240. That has changed and I wanna change my name to some more appropriate. How do I do that, is it possible, or should I just start a whole new thing. Jake
