  1. this question has kida been asked before but didnt get a for sure answer to me so halp me out. i have an l28et and i plan on megasuirting it within the mext few weeks, i then want to upgrade to an rb25det that i found and i want to know how can i get megasuirt and spart to control my rb25det, it doesnt have the cas like the l28 has so i am a little confused, should i just stick with the stock ecu and get a pippgy back system or what also i found a place to get the rb25det and manual trans and all ecu and mas ect for 2.5k+shipping is that a good price
  2. are there any good places to get an lt1 in southern california where i live, alot of the lt1's on ebay are very far away, so shipping will be like 300+ a closer place would be much better so anyplaces u guys got would be great
  3. wow u guys are great thanks for the info on the ebay kit and i will not be buying it, the welds do look very cheap, i right now have a 280zxt radiator and 2 12inch electric fans, will this combo cool the lt1 or do i need to buy the camero one like in the jtr manual also i have the jrt manual in hand and i am looking at the driveshaft part and i am a little confused i have a 1987 300zx lsd diff that i will be using what driveshaft do i use the one from my car originaly and get it modded or a chevy drive shaft made to fit my diff

  5. i want to put a v8 in my 1973 240z but i dont know if i should put a 350 with a carb or should i find and lt1 and put that in. i would like to put an lt1 in because i have a 1994 trans am that has an lt1 in it stock and i love the power it has and i cant believe what the power would be like in a way lighter z. the only problems i see are will the jtr or ebay monting kit that i found work for an lt1, or should i just go with a normal carbed 350. i plan on using the 4l60e trans, will this trans bolt in to the msa kit or do i need a custom mount. the ebay kit i found is http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6763&item=7956496223&rd=1 the only thing i need to know if u dont want to read my story is what is special about puting an lt1 in a 240z and will the ebay or jtr mounting kit work with the llt1 and a 4l60e
  6. i am getting very angry at the stock ecu that i have in my 240z with a 280zxt motor. so to fix my problems i am buying a megasquirt and spark ecu from rs-autosports i dont know if i should buy the relay board is it really worth it. by the way my shopping list is so far Assembled relay board cable, 6 ft. Fuel Injector Connector, Coolant Temp Sensor Intake Air Temp Sensor Upgraded MAP Sensor 4 bar MS Combo Kit (MS, Harness Kit, and DB37)MegaSquirt 'n Spark Extra no fidle Flyback board installed in ECU so i can run 450cc dsm injectors they are low imped Relay and Power Distribution Board ? 450cc dsm injectors 240x throttle body am i missing anything

  9. i have a 1973 240z with a 1982 280zx turbo motor in it, i have upgraded the turbo to a t3/t4b and an intercooler and a few other little thing, i was looking on msa and found that the sell upgraded cams, stage one and stage 2, they seam kinda cheap at only around 170 bucks. i will be putting in 450cc dsm injectors and also a megasquirt ecu. what i want to know is, is a cam worth the money. will i get any more hp or a better spool up or something like that. also i need the car to be streetable, like still 20 vac at idle and will not stall or over heat stuff like that http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=10-0921&Category_Code=PEM01 http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=10-0922&Category_Code=PEM01
  10. i found some very nice shocks for only like 360 bucks and they are the Tokico Illumina Gas Strut, 70-8/74 Z Coupe that are 5 way adjustable, should i get those or some less money shocks. i have a 1973 240z with a 1982 turbo motor in it. i will mostly be drag racing the car so i need to know if the 5 way adjustable is worth the extra 100+ bucks.

  12. does megasquirt and megasquirt and spark have the same hardware but just different software, i had just asked a similar question but didnt really get a clear answer. i want magasquirt and spark but i can only find the regular megasquirt, so what i want to do is just update the software and loos the fast idle control and just have ignition instead. the only reason i ask is because i read the installation guide i found here and i confussed me a little "When you build MS add a 2 pin header at location H1, the boot header. This will allow you to easily use a 2 pin shunt(like on PC motherboards) to download new code to your MS hardware." does this mean that i need to mod a normal megasquirt board like the one i found at rs motor sports. i really need help b/c for xmas i got money to buy the megasquirt and now i and unsure if i can still buy it or not for what i need, all i need is a computer to control my l28et engine in my 240z and megasquirt and spark looked like the best way to do it.
  13. i was reading and found the rs autosport sells megasquirt but it does not sell megasquirt and spark whick is what i really want. but the problem is that i looking into it more and found out that i need to install some extra "stuff", that i dont think i could really understand and install properly. so what i want it a place to but megasquirt and spark pre made with now hardware mods that need to be made by me. i can do software mods but not hardware. i have looked on ebay and afew other places but i cant find it HHHHHHHHHEEEEEEELLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!
  14. is the msd boost master timing a stand alone system i am planning on putting a megasquirt computer into my l28et engine. i had wanted to put in megasuirt and spark but i may people say to start with just the fuel and then later go to the fuel and spark. i was just woundering how do i have both of them work together, i think i understand how to put in the fuel computer by it self but i want to know if when i use the msd bmt does it require the stock ecu to work or is the msd bmt a stand alone system
  15. i am putting some new toyota 4x4 s12-8 calipers on my 1973 240z and none of my local auto parts stores have any in for a 1980 4x4 truck so i can look and see if they are marked with s12-8(which are the ones i want) or s12w ones that i dont want. my question is what year did the s12-8 toyota 4x4 calipers come on. i really need the answer fast b/c i want them for xmas and its coming soon
  16. i would just put in a new fuel pump, summit sells one that is under 100 bucks shipped and it works great for me. u still could rewire the stock pump throught a relay and it will get like 14 volts and it will flow more and maybe hit ur 250 hp mark but i wouldnt push it. IMO the stock injectors suck, even stock boost and stock efi they seem to run too lean for me in the upper rpm range (5000 rpm +). what i would do is get the fuel pump or rewire the stock one then put in your 370cc injectors and have fun dont forget to retune your stock afm http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=esearch.asp&N=110&Ntk=KeywordSearch&Ntt=fuel+pump+electric&x=0&y=0
  17. i am doing the toyota 4x4 brakes on my 1973 240z and need to know if i need wheel spacers. i have a set of centerline wheels on right now and wonder if i can fit the new brakes with out a wheel spacer. i plan on using the stock rotors.
  18. i plan on putting a 1987 300zx turbo lsd diff into my 1973 240z this winter and i am getting all of my parts togeather now. i want to just make sure that i have all the parts and info to make it happen. parts i have r200 lsd from an auto 1987 300zx turbo (got it for 100$ what a deal) r200 out of a 1982 280zx turbo imput shafts from the 280zx, i have the whole car so i have the rest of the stuff for the diff parts i am getting mustash bar from a 280z, maybe from the kit from z barn is there anything else i will need, also i have heard of people putting stronger half-shafts or companion flanges or something, what do i have to do to make this diff and half-shafts ect very strong

  21. i'm going to be putting an lti in one of my z's soon, but i want it to be stick shift, but i dont want a T56 of a t5, are there anyother trans out there. also what are the averge prices on the t56 or t5 or any other trans u guys come up with
  22. i have a 1973 240z and want to put an lt1 in it. i know about the jtr manual and kit. what i want to know is if i use an lt1 is there anything special i need to know about intalling it, and does the stock exaust manifolds fit and other little stuff like that. also i want to put a supercharger on it, are there any kits that will fit in the z
  23. i dont think it will even fire it will be way to rich but if u want it to just fire either, cut the fuel pressure way down like 25 pounds or less, or start the car with like a 1/4 of a gal of gas and it will lower the fuel pressure by it self. have fun
  24. would my spark plugs just all of a sudden go out. i mean all of them at the same time they look similar to me when i looked at them. by the way what gap should the sparks be at, and are nkg the best
  25. i swaped a 280zxt into my 240 z and loved it. the car was fast, very fast for me. i was running only 7 psi and it was running great. then my fuelpump died. the car would run perfect at idle and run perfect untill i wanted to boost and drive fast. so i put in one of those msd electric fuel pumps. the car still runs perfect at idle, but i still dont have any power. i can rev the car to like 5000 rpm with only like 20% throttle, i am am thinking it has a fuel prob. the car feels like this i hit the gas, and floor it, pulls till like 3000rpm and is making 6 psi boost, all nomal, but then the car like stops making power and like falls on its face slow. and some times a loud poping comes out the back. could it be my stock fule pressure regulator or some other prob. i dont think it is anything like spark b/c i can rev to 5000rpm with no prob as long as i am only like 20% throttle. anything would help
