  2. careless the Vg30det did not come out of a z32 anywhere. The vg30det is from a cima. I will not fit a z32 with out mods as the intake is in the incorrect position as well as the cross over pipe. the vg30de came in the z31(jdm) and later in the z32
  3. i just wanted some insight. I s/w john @ z1 and they had no info on the vg30det what so ever. I'm not trying to clone of replicate a TT z32. I want to bolt turbos on a N/A z32. I'm talking about retaining all your N/A stuff (ecm and wireharness included). I just plan on using the Vg30det long block instead of the vg30de long block. I'm gonna make up a parts list, just to see. also you mentioned some chassis differences, please shed some light and thanks for your input and help my friend =)
  4. I read a million of these "buy ba twin turbo clip" Reply's. Thats not what i asked. I dont wanna buy a $5k twin turbo clip. $$$ wise its not worth it to me for a stock 300hp. For $5k ill continue building my turbo buick and be 10x faster. I understand if your tired of all the TT converion questions, but then why did you comment. My question was about using the vg30det block from a cima, using all your N/a vg30de parts as well as a few TT parts. Use the Vg30de intake manifolds (get them ported to match the vg30det heads), buy used stock TT throttle bodies, exhaust manifolds, turbos and injectors. could buy a aftermarket front mount intercooler(ebay if your cheap Stillen if your not) and then bolt up the n/a tranny (maybe replace the clutch while the engine is out), driveshaft ect. It would be no differant than swappin of TT manifolds to a high compression N/A block except we would finally have the missing component, the cheap low compression block. It seems it would be cheaper than a Vg30dett clip and not be the 40hrs of work that the TT swap requires. Hell we could even re-use the existing N/A or TT motor mounts, tranny mounts ect. i'm gonna check over at 300zxclub then im gonna give Z1 a call.
  5. I was thinking of a unique N/A=TT conversion. I'm sure this idea of a cheap and simple conversion has been beat to death but, I was curious is anyone has ever used the Vg30det out of the Nissan cima, since the compression and internals would be right as its a turbo motor (and cheap). Then you could use the Vg30dett top end, intercoolers and possibly motor mounts. Retain the N/A wireharness and an N/A ecm (JWT as well as Nismo modifies them), bolt up the N/a tranny and retain the N/a driveshaft ect. This could be alot cheaper than the 40hrs and $10k it costs to swap over a twin turbo drivetrain. any thoughts since im brainstorming.

  7. I used to be heavy in the nissan/datsun scene when i had z32s now i have a buick grand national project and i am looking to get back in to nissans a little. I like the ease and reliablity of the gen 3/4 chevy motors and would like something powered by that. Today i randomly came across a extremely clean garaged 80zx n/a 5speed. the guy wants it gone and is only looking for a couple hundred bucks. Now i know that no makes a "kit " for the 280zx but is the anyone that has done the swap that might be able to help me with building this? I would like to use the 5.3 and a t56. some issues i have heard about are headers, motor mounts, cross member and some issue with the steering box?

  12. yeah i know about the turbo sway, someone actually swapped a series II motor in an 87 buick grand national. he says the turboed series II is actually much smoother and over all better. I was thinking.... l67 block(supercharged Gtp) l36 heads (off 3.8 98 +f-body) 97 intake manifolds off fbody 97 throttle body 4l60e trans from v6 fbody *custom driveshaft* *custom downpipe* turbo *custom header* modify wiring harness from GTP?? GTP Ecm? swapped in a s130 chassis

  14. I been working on my grand national and it got me thinking. I'm in the market for a clean t=top 280zx, i was thinking of swapping the buicks LC2 motor in it, but what about the newer 3.8 from a GTP or superchrged riveria or regal. They have 8.5 compression and are extremely reliable, some have even run them into the 8s. (intense motor sports)

    VH45DE in Z32

    Cal Poly Zmanaustin that looks like a good list. It would be interesting to see what a vh45de swapped in a z32 would involve, if you aren't turboin it immediatly, you could run the stock injectors and components, but you would still have to fund Custom engine mounts Probably custom Alt and AC brackets Fab lines for Oil Cooler Oil Cooler ECU couldn't you run the q45 ecm tho? EVC
