aries in TX did it with a s14.. its totaly possible
  2. I just went to a junk yard, and found a V8 swapped z. It had the headlight covers cracked, I was like damn... So im inside messing arround(has a hurst shifter and a random chevy engine..why chevy doesnt bowtie there parts to ID I dont know. Also a bolt in roll bar) So im messing arround and pull the seat forward. BAM 2 sets of covers, one passenger side is cracked so i left it. they have dirt on em, witch i can clean.. but also some have minor scratches id like to get out.. any ideas?
  3. looked like one of those malaysan rip off guys on a engilish board. Nah were cool, just a funny statment to read... BTW getting my motor built soon, im trading a website for a longblock. Got the ford 9" and soon enough Ill find a TKO and have it built by MMR.
  4. This is what he wanted to charge me 2400 for: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7969101653&category=33615 this is the EXACT and almost scarry same setup. BTW those of you on the ford forums, it was originaly Indy mustang, but they got baught out a week ago, and the new guys busy taking it over. The old owner is now a manager, and hes actually who quoted me... I was like "im ok Jim, you've raped enough ford guys" the new guys prob going to fire him soon...
  5. having problems finding a builder.. I was quoted 2400 for a shortblock, and I was like "ehh im all right without the assraping" Id build it myself, but would be building by a book, then getting it ballanced. I can do a longblock no problem, but the short i dont know all to well.(ive worked on nissan ones, but was only helping)
  6. yeah its pre 74, and even more say its the 72.. The webbing gets notchd back in the later years.
  7. weaksauce.. Ill stay with the 351W THanks!
  8. Ive been looking to do a ford 351W swap into the Z. But no one in the ford community can come to a concensous(sp?) about the stock capability of the block. and Only certain years can hold more power. My ORIGINAL plan: 351W Stock crank, forged rods, forged pistons, girdle, arp mains, arp rod bolts, arp headbolts, 77 bearings, stock oversized or upgraded heads, custom manifold, single turbo(.80 or larger), 3" all the way back, the $300 intercooler(mentioned here), BOV, Holly 750 blowthrough, Walboro 555, MSD 6al, HVC coil, MSD distibutor, relocated battery, and and and..... I want a VERY reliable conservitive 500 - 650. They say that the 69 and 71 blocks for ford are rated there, but they dont know, and its a constant battle. The chevy swap stuff is allready made, and swapping is far more common. Less original but easyer.. WHAT I WANT TO KNOW: What is the stock rating on the 350 BLOCK(not hp from a stroker) whats the block hold. Whitch Junkyard cars can I steal from, and witch years have the 4bolt main? I dont want to spend all the cash, just to have it snap down the center. NOT going aftermarket block.
  9. are you sure? I heard at least 74. I could get a 76 for cheap
  10. well if the doors arnt dented the'll be better. as for rust, mine are clean there.
  11. Those are Euro lights.. A skyline has one larger light towards the outside and a smaller on the inside.. looks almost exactly like the impalas.
  12. AWESOME! I started calling junkyards and they just laughed at me.. I need only a few things for the body.. really I just need to know what you have.. what I know I need: front passenger fender possibly passenger side door. Rocker pannels(both sides) rear driverside lip for the wheel whell, i might be able to fix it but if I could just cut it. driverside engine bay pannel(mines got a dollar sized hole in it) the support bars that the bumper bolts too. I cant think of anything else right now, we'll see when I start taking it apart. BTW your in Chicago, im In Indianapolis and drive up toward there all the time.. where is the other guy mentioned located?
  13. The hood physicaly curves? or is just lower? my hood doesnt curv.. OT: are you worried about airflow with the Gnose? I like it alot but the air space looks low, and I have to crap a intercooler and a radiator for a 351 in there
  14. if it were a 280 Id just keep walking, thing is up here the Zs are super rare, and the 260 is rare enough as is. I lived in TX and there was 4 on my old street.. Junk yards had 6 or 7 of DIFFERENT styles.. up here they dont even know what it is...
  15. A friend of the family has had this Z sitting in her drivway for 10 years, and after realizng that her husbands honey-do list no longer includes her old Z(as he backed into the front passenger fender) they just wanted it out of there driveway... its getting delivered here hopefully in a week or so(gary IN, to Indianapolis) Ive allready started getting the things needed for the swap, but i first have to fix the body, heres a bunch of pics: The scratch is made with a key, its a dirt/rust mix... just surface rust.. EEK I have 2 new seats(along with the old) 2 dashs and 2 center consols and all the door pannels WHO IN THE HELL PAINTS A BLUE Z **** BROWN??? scratched member showing just surface rust. MY biggest worry is the hole in the driverside engine bay(with the dollar). Its right by the strut tower and is a cruical spot. Im going to saw the hole and replace it with a piece of sheet metal but dont know if it will hold up.. also that bad rust spot is on the pannel im replacing..
  16. what trans did you go with hitman? any info on your 9"? I just got mine today
  17. yeah I read about it.. the sportsman blocks have the old school webbing.. what year is the last year of the good block? 74?
  18. probobly hella vibration... what trans is that?
  19. what is the big difference between the older 351s and the newer ones?
  20. i love this board... im trying to find a builder in indy... just for the shortblock really(i dont have the tools to balance everything) im on corral and stangnet looking up cheap blocks... maybe ill just buy a old van and get the 351 and the 9"
