  1. Well i was getting on it real hard and it just said f you around a corner after the corner i heard a thumping real hard like a flat tire i took it home (i live close to that spot) and shook it side to side thought it was a bearing at first but looked behind and found that that part was actually moving in the non-metal that is there lol.

I think i am going to go with the ttt stuff i will try to give him a call on monday or something.

  2. Have you ever considered making it for the ford 8.8 diff? The diff (out of tbirds and cougars) are much more plentiful in junk yards and aftermarket parts than any import diff that I am aware of. I have called around mn for nissan diffs to be serviced not many places are even willing to take it apart and install a new carrier leaving it up to me.

If it were me I would find a way to allow the use of the ford 8.8 diff and cv axles to bolt up in there. I know a yard that has 10 cars just sitting there with these in them. OR I would make it allow cv axles and the ford 9.

    Just a thought.

  3. Well I was fududaling around the other day with my z (1978 280z 5 spd) and I snapped a hunk of metal off part of the rear control arm on the left side.

Now the rear suspension is pretty crusty as it was I have been looking into replacing the control arms anyway and this just gives me a good enough reason to do so.

The best looking bang for the buck looks like techno toy tunings parts. Personally I have never heard of them until I was just doing a random google search on them. I know a lot of good has come out of arizona z, but I just can't justify the prices for what I am doing with the car to buy the control arms he has (which are beautiful btw).

So is techno toy tuning a reputable company? Any good or bad experiences? Here is the link to the part I need.

Here is the busted arm lol.

Thanx in advance for any help guys.

  4. When exactly where exactly etc.

Are you in MN? Where about if so?

I know NOBODY in mn that is into these cars just old muscle. I'm currently in Anoka Mn right now. There is a new nissan that just opened up in coon rapids I'd like to get a group of people meet up as a regular thing, at that location. Are you or do you know people that may be interested in something like that?

  5. I'm just going by the speedo bub. I've also had the speedo tested- by radar, I'm not 100 percent sure if its 130 that i have not had done by radar. I have at 90 for sure. So I am sure its close. Your not helping so unless you would like to help keep the flaming and the random opinions to yourself or NICO.

On a side note: I do enjoy your quote in your sig.

  6. Add an air dam to the front, seal the airdam back to the radiator support, and if you have any adjustment add some caster to it.

    jt

do you have any pictures for examples to what your talking about as far as the air damn goes? I understand the caster idea I've thought of changing the alignment a bit seeing that its going to change at higher speeds.

I did forget to mention that I have staggered tires as far as height goes.n I have taller tires in the rear to bring the front end down- not DRAMATIC really but, 185 65 front 195 70 rear.

  7. So I was fooling around the other day with the z and had it going at about 130 mph to test what it is like with the steel bumpers off. The shaking it once had is now gone. BUT now I found that I have another issue; the car starts to have a floaty feel coming from the front of the car. It felt as if I were to turn it it would flip. This is something I would like to fix. I read a little bit about the windtunnel stuff to be honest most of the stuff you guys were saying was and or is way above my head. So that being said.

What can I do to make the car more stable and planted as I get it to those higher speeds? Picture examples would be great. I am planning on doing body work very soon so if there is stuff like wings and splitters or a particular body kit that is better than others for aerodynamics, I would much appreciate the information so I can have it setup better before I repaint it.

The car as is a 1978 280z 5 speed stock front lower valance and has the steel park bench bumpers removed. the radiator is fully exposed at this point big open mouth. The suspension right now is all stock struts shocks etc. all 1978 factory.

    thanx vega-

  8. Something I have been studying lately is the era from which my car came from. I currently own a 1978 280z, now in that time period the cars that were competing with the car were the Toyota Celica Gt, and the Mustang Cobra ii v8.

I am 24 years of age so I really don't know how things were back then, but what was considered the better car? The 302 cobra? the dohc gt celica?

So take your bias aside and actually consider the facts. What was car to have here in America for our youth? Also I would like to know the reason for your answers if you will.

    Thanx in advance- Vega.

  9. That's hilarious man. Hey you should ask him (father in law) what he drove in the day. Out of curiosity what motor are you running? what kind of power you think your making with the cam and exhaust? what did you do to tune it?

    -----------

Any other thoughts on the subject? ideas etc?

  10. When my paerents where dating back in the mid 70's my Dad (who I would concider a "bad boy") had a 67 Firebird. My parents broke up for a while, and my Mom started dating some football player at her High School. This big stud football player drove a little VW gia. One day the football player was droping my Mom off after a date, my Dad just happends to be in the area, sees this happen, and waits for the dude to get back in his car. Long story short, my Dad chases this dude around for an hour or so, scares the crap out of him, and in 1979, I was born. So, my vote for the late 60's is the Firebird

That is a bad ass answer man lol!

  11. So I was thinking today. Now keep in mind that I am 24 years old so this is going to skew somethings. Most of today's young woman are not really looking for something much different than they ever really were back in the day. This is a generalization of course but, I find that most woman are looking for the "bad boy" or at least are falling for them. Then in the end when they get older and more mature, they want the bad boy that in the end is not really a bad boy but just has confidence in who they are, and at the same time can be sensitive etc.

Anyhow that in itself gets into a different discussion for another time and that is not exactly what I am looking to discuss. What I have found in common with woman now and before (meaning before my own personal time) is that the image of the bad boy is not that much different. He wears leather, tends to wear a lot of black clothing (its sleek and mysterious), may own a Harley Sportster. Now the thing I find HAS changed is the cars that these woman imagine this bad boy to be driving. That is what I would like to discuss.

As time has gone by the the "bad boy"'s car has changed. Through out the years what have you found that the guys around you that have the "bad boy image" have been driving for a car? Was it a mustang? Vette? etc?

So I am going to start from a more logical beginning in time range.

What car did he drive in the 1960s?

    1970's?

    1980's

    1990's

    and now the 2000's?

I personally found that in the 2000's there has been a slight lean much more to the import cars. BUT when it comes down to it, the 350z/g35, mustangs, evo's, sti's, and f-bodies still dominate this era. The guys with the civics, eclipses, 240sx cars are still boy racers, and give off the I'm just a kid vibe to most females out there not the more manly "bad boy" image they tend to fall for.

So that in mind (and I am noticing I am getting a little redundant here). What do you all think these guys drive in these time periods?

On a side note PLEASE I really don't want to get into the politics of this discussion I am looking for strait forward answers (opinions on what you think, not your opinion on what you think about what others think- I don't care and that just causes pointless arguments so lets just keep that out of this please).
