  1. Hey I have a line on a pair of 2003 Mini S black leather seats....for $300. I think it a great deal....but I would like to know how much work is it to make them fit and if a good idea if I plan on putting in a roll cage. Thanks

  2. Well I am getting money together as week speak so I can buy the JC kit for the LS1 swap. I am about to head back to school for a job and I wanted to know how much these carbs are worth. I also have the two videos and the carbs were only used for about a month...so please let me know how much I should let them go for......

  3. WoW thank god for you guys. I was going to offer $100 because I thought it was a good deal, but I had a thought to come check with you guys first. I will be passing these parts. I do have question tho, how much weight do you really save going with a fiberglass front end.....i know the steel on the car is pretty thin so just a thought.

  4. Ok well guys I have finally removed the motor and tranny. I was told the car was driveable when i bought it, but after a can of starter fluid to spray on those carbs, the motor was spittin oil onto the roof of the car and pouring out about a spoon of oil a min. Therefor I pulled it all out and getting ready for the LS1 swap....before all of that...I am doin susp and brakes along with the chassis first.....keep you guys updated.....wil post pics when i learn how to post in the thread.

  5. Weird how this thread goes up a few days after a really good friend of the family passes away due to a crash. For those of you who live in NY may have seen a truck crash just a few days ago on I-87 near exit 16 that was on the news. The man driving has been really good friends with my father since before their teenage years. This was also the guy who was going to help me clean out the garage next week when I came home so the Z I bought has a resting place. The thing about it which makes it hard to deal with is....let me explain.....there are 3 people in the truck : 18-wheeler: and before the crash, he tells the people riding with him that the truck doesn't feel right. He feels something is wrong and he needs to check it out. So at the next exit he decides that he is going to get off. Well as he makes the sweeping right hand turn to get off, the unthinkable happens and he truck flips over towards his side. Well not only does the truck flip, it lands on the center divider killing him instantley. The other two people were hurt but are here to tell the sorry. He leaves behind a wife and 4 kids. His oldest which is his son, a friend of mine just left the country five days ago to bury his grandmother, and has to come back home to bury his father the weekend of mothers day. The hardest part of it all......he was only 2 exits away from home. Same exit I get off for home making the trip back from school.....going to be hard next week driving home, to past the exit where it happened.

I feel for everyone else and thier story, glad I can vent here with my friends.

  6. Davyz is right. I am a newbie myself and half of the questions I would ask is in the book. It is really worht the $30 bucks? I don't remember because I read it all the time, sure worth more than the books I buy for school costing $150 and only use it for homework.....college books.....what a rip off!

    JTR worth buying!

Welcome to the site, good luck.

  7. Thanks guys for all the info. I am about 90% sure I will go with the 94 Q45 VLSD 3:54:1. This is going from the info I got from MAS280. I guess my next set of questions will be about cv's and such.....but I will search first before I ask. A fair prive from the junk yard for the whole rear end unit should be under 200 dollars right?

PS. I still dont know how to put the faces and animation into my theards =(..I don't wanna make faces anymore with the keys. LoL.

  8. WHEELS:

    `Watanabe R-Type 16x9 w/ -13 offset (Front)

    `Watanabe R-Type 16x9.5 w/ -19 offset (Rear)

Those are the wheels I would like to have on my car. I know they are wide and should have enough contact area to get power to the ground. I am guessing from all the info here..... R-200 3.7:1 lsd would be the way to go.....That would be out of a 280zx turbo right? I hope no one is getting mad yet=). All the input is great guys and I really am learning here. Anyone see a problem with the wheels I want to get? Another member here already has them on I know but I do like.

When you say the 3.54:1 will be a handful, you mean it is hard to get the power to the ground and not good on gas? Guys I guess I really need the ratio best for 1/4 mile and here and the a mile run. The higher the ratio...the worse on gas and better for 1/4 mile? Or vice versa? Thank you for all the help and I am keeping track of all the info in a word document and next time when a newbie ask these questions, I got it.

I guess from what I have read so far on the site is that in a 1/4 mile run I would never really get to 6th of course is for freeway driving. I dont plan on driving the car everyday at all, so I dont mind it being alil rough to drive. I guess it really comes down to I have to get the "best" combination of < r-200 : lsd : ratio:> Thanks

  10. OK, the car basically will be a weekend car that I will street race once in a while. Based on the info you all have said the r-200 with lsd will be all I need. I am just trying to get all the parts together that I need and keep looking for a deal. I am guessing here a 400+hp ls1 engine with a 100 shot of nos is my main goal. Basically all of my questions are geared around that. I am pretty sure I know of a car that I may be able to get a free r200.....77 280 manual.

Should I be looking for something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33731&item=7969089258&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

    OR

Should I get a r200 out of a 280z and buy a lsd unit for it......or search for a rear end out of a newer Z meaning 80's/90's model that may have a lsd rearend?

Thanks everyone for the quick response. I am pretty sure I will hit this thread again for more questions......I promise I will search before I ask!

  11. **** I DID SEARCH BEFORE I ASKED *****

Ok guys I am in the planning stages here of the ls1 swap. I know for sure I want a 01 and up ls1. I am going to be using Johns LS1 kit. The area where I need to learn more about and ask questions is sups/ rear end. Is it better to go with a r230 vz r200 for an ls1 swap? The pros and cons of going with either rearend. How much more of a hassle is it to use the r230 and is it worth it? I remember reading a thread that had a debate on the different types of r230 and I will have to search and read it again. I know this maybe a stupid question but most of the results I got were from last year threads and I was just wondering if anyone had updates.

Pic of my 73 240 I picked up this week is coming. Thanks for all the advice about starting with a clean shell and not the rust bucket I had.

PS... how do you guys put the faces in the thread...example hitting the other face over the head.. =)

    Clive

  12. Yeah I plan on getting the car running in 3 weeks. The person I bought it from said he never got the carbs dialed in and the car ran really rough. So I plan on watching the video and getting it road ready. I am goin to drive it for now as i get the susps parts and everything else I need...before I start searching for my LS1 swap.

The carbs are only 7 months old.....any idea how much they are worth? anyone?
