  1. i think the darker colour looks better on the top, and was thinking of painting the top half of my car black to fix up some stone chips and other paint imperfections, so would make it black over green, which would b pretty sexy imho however i have resently painted the lower sections of the side of my car black to cover up rust holes for a little bit, and plan to put on black zg flares. basically unless i fall inlove with a car thats painted with the sides black i dont think i'd ever consider doing it as every one i've seen so far looks wrong. and i think that while zg flares painted black with the top of the car black would look good, having both the spoiler and lower sides black along with the top half would be to much.
  2. looks nice! i have an 10.4" lilliput in my 260z which is just plugged into a laptop that sites behind/under the passenger seat, and have it for the same sorts of reasons you're going to have yours, just i don't have any of the engine stuff atm, just entertainment, and probably gps soon for if i ever need it i went for a 10" lilliput that just does 800X600 instead of the 1024X768 one just as with that high a res everything would be way to hard to touch on the screen since the front ends out there aren't made for that sort of res, and also the extra $$, however the screen must now have a loose connection in it as it sometimes goes all green, but tapping it seems to make it work for now :s so yeah lilliputs aren't the best...but they work? my only suggestion would be to have another form of input such as a hacked up joystick/touchpad etc, or another way to get a few buttons as there's times where you really need to do something without looking, or there is to much light on the screen to see and its to hard to try to block it while driving! also at night having such a large screen lights up EVERYTHING, where as a 7" widescreen i think would be a nice size for most cars, however i wanted something that filled up the gap nicely, and i haven't yet moulded it into the dash as i didn't want to void the warranty, i need somewhere for the air to come out, and i haven't been bothered
  3. i've put longer screws through where the screws hold the front and back of the projector together and they go through holes in the back of the ebay housing, so kinda of the same, but slightly different i think. they only just fit in depth wise due to the shroud i'm using, i think the bmw lense is just touching the inside of the headlight lense i actully had my headlights apart today as i modified them to produce more blue at the cutoff, but i forgot that ppl wanted to c pics. i think i did it to much though so will most likely pull them apart again sometime in the next couple of weeks to lessen it a bit, so i might have some useful pics at last!
  4. just thought i'd give a heads up regarding these wheels, they have redone the style of them so they look more like panasports now. so as sulio (toecutter) was saying, performance wheels have now made their superlite style in 16X8, the only issue is that the only offset they are availible in is +12. hopefully 16X10 comes out by the time i want to put the zg flares on reading through this thread, amongst others, i've read people have used 16X8 in offsets from 0 to +20 and they fit under stock guards, but i am not sure if this is using stock susspension of coilovers? so before i buy them i guess i'd like clarification as to if they will fit under the rear guards without using coilovers, and possibily even the front? or will the fenders need to be rolled? the shop i'm looking to buy them from orginally said they would fit under all 4 corners, but now say they probably wont fit even under the back... thanks in advance
  5. thanks heaps for the pictures! i'm impressed with how much you can see in such a little area! i'll have to show the skeptics! the passenger side one does nicely fit in there under the cowl, beautiful work! i think i'll get some to match my new shinny rims i'll hopefully b ordering soon, just need to justify spending a couple of weeks pay on mirrors...hehe
  6. some drivers seat pictures would be greatly appreshiated if you have the time. but i can only see directly behind the car using the inside mirror?
  7. so the area they cover is quite large? or is it really only a small spot? i want to get some (not sure if i want black or chrome, everytime i think i've made up my mind i change it again, although i guess its hards to go from black to chrome than chrome to black?) but i keep being told that i won't be able to see anything with them etc...but then again i dont currently have a passenger side mirror... would it please be possible for one of you guys with them to take a picture from the drivers seat of both the mirrors? mayb in a carpark would be easiest to understand? thanks -evan
  8. yep i understand! what currency are you talking? i was wanting some watanabes in that sort of size but found out they dont make any negative offset wheels in 17" post up some pics of you're new rims when you get them!
  9. what wheels and sizes did you end up buying? they look nice
  10. my issue with getting into the 20's was always going to be that rich and famous people were going to start be younger than me and that i'd feel like i'd wasted my life already, and ur car does just that to me! it looks beautiful
  11. nice little pod, i had a crx for all of 2-3 weeks as a daily driver (while working on the zed) until some idiot in a truck wrote it off (it has front damange also) along with another 2 cars, it was fun while it lasted hehe
  12. aren't you doing this to a 2+2 andrewperez_tx as it is prob more like a mazerati? if so here's some pics i just found to help [/url] and prob the most useful one but to large to post so he's a link http://www.gt-classics.com/jpg/260Z.jpg
  13. i was thinking of making a "rusty" sticker for across the back, and the "r" in the rear quater windows, just in black against my tinted windows so its only just visible, but now that i've bogged up most of the rust the theme doesn't suit it as well! hehe
  14. sulio i was just about to pm you to ask where you got the vinyl from, so its good to know its just contact! i was thinking of using some contact to make some stickers on my windscreen. was it hard to stick them on straight? from the few times i contacted books i seem to remember it being stretchy? or mayb i'm thinking of something else? either way you could get a fair few attempts out of one roll huh!
  15. yeah i'm needing some in Aus also, i'm in contact with the seller of the group buy in terms of shipping them here, and its a bit more than the wheels themselves, so probably gonna get a few of them for others who want them also to save on shipping, just i'm in melb so...
  16. maybe he flipped the rhd one in his head or by hand for installing it himself, then found your image? either way, the one thing i've never understood about that diagram (and i hope to use the rhd version of it one day) is; are the measurements to the points that the diagram is indicating, (inside edge and front of the mirrors), or to the centres of the holes? i guess it would only be out by a bit but still...
  17. i was thinking of doing something similar to that design at one stage, but i prefer the look of the buckets, so if anything i'd put the clear covers on and have something similar to that (more like mazerati etc) underneath it. something like i did was quite simple, i've got mine out of the car atm so they are up for sale (for those that can't b bothered spending the time to do a retrofit, and dont want to pay someone a few hundred to make some for them) as i'm wanting to use the money elsewhere for now (while i dont like driving the car at night without these lights, atm i can't drive it at all, so the money should be used elsewhere for now, then mayb i'll make up some sexy buckets next time) http://cgi.ebay.com.au/7-e46-bmw-3-series-xenon-HID-head-lights-for-240z-260z_W0QQitemZ150005329259QQihZ005QQcategoryZ102560QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem the auction is finishing pretty soon, i will ship them internationally, but u'd have to modify it slightly for LHD cars (or just have the beam output flat instead of having a step in it.)
  18. this seems like a smart, cheap idea, just need to find a donor car with a similar roof shape to a 2 seater http://www.viczcar.com/v-web/gallery/index.php?cat=10205
  19. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=108098&highlight=e46+xenon and for those that dont know its easy enough to change the cut off so its flat or even for lhd cars ofcourse just by playing around with the parts... bi-xenon would fit, i was wanting to get some tsx's and retro both the projectors and highbeam reflectors but i came across these. its hard not to just keep buying more and more bits, if i come across some tsx's for a good price i might try to do that though
  20. done by haknslash yeah? so thats how much ppl charge for the labor huh...the main issue with a retro for the zeds is the clearance at the back and it'd b pretty hard to make a huge front buldge thing like all the 7" hid lights for sale have, so its easier (and i think it looks a bit nicer to just cut out the back and try to water proof it) but if you were confident headlight covers sealed off alright you could always do a mad more modern complete headlight bucket design once you get a set its the never ending quest for the perfect ones huh? that combination u named seems to be it! just go back to stock lights then any hid retrofit is an improvement, be happy with what u have btw my e46 ece's are for sale so i can upgrade to some tl's also
  21. dam! good thing she didn't get the headlights huh?!? that's a much more logical place to mount the ballast than my current spot, did you have to remove the headlight bucket to mount it there? goodluck getting it back to how it was man, its a beautiful car! sure is worse when its family or friends that do stuff like this...
  22. yeah i'd say its a helix too, but where do they have the gas strut thing positioned to push it out? down the middle is the easiest place i can think of...but yeah complicated huh? i wonder if they will ever bring out rice kits to do it!
  23. do ccr style doors if you want them to open differently. last time i tried to find information on how they worked i couldn't find anything, but you can come up with a few ways of how to do it urself, would just be good to know which way they chose!
  24. the bosch kit is essentially the same thing that i have, except their products come with a 1yr warranty, as they are brand new instead of out of a writeoff etc, if ur going to get bosch ones go for ECE lenses (non american) as they are better, or spend a bit more and get some nicer ones, but u can always mix and match as the electronics are the same effectively, and you can get some amazing results from swapping lenses as i've now found out, but not from first hand experience here are some pics from what seems to be the ultimate setup currently availible look at that distance it gets highbeams -as they are bi-xenon's and check out that nice thin blue line all along the edge (the bit that makes them look blue to oncoming cars) i'm addicted to the hidplanet site, very interesting stuff! those are ZKW lenses on TL projectors, so its not a cheap combination...my lights are currently out of my car as its off the road for a bit, so the lights are up forsale if anyone wants them, it gives me an excuse to upgrade to some bi-xenons. if they dont sell i'll just chuck them back in as i can't go back to stock lights!
  25. can you take some photos between all the coats? i'm interested to see the colour and the progress as i'm thinking of giving it a shot instead of having to mask certain parts of my car (rust at the bottom of doors i'm going to bog and then paint, i know this isn't the preferred method but i have another pair of doors now that will go on sometime) i've found out of a place thats ment to stock this paint near my in Australia, so hopefully they actully do!
