Yes, it is a California Z kit, which was manufactured by Jim Cook Racing. Don't go changing that either--it adds to the Z's collective badness.

The stock fenders and quarters are steel. However, you have got some nice Jim Cook Racing fender flares. Car looks the business, just hope you'll be getting her there soon

Combine the Cointreau and Grand Marnier into just 1shot of Gran Gala and I absolutely cant tell the difference.
Meaning that it tastes like a top shelf margarita??? I hope I'm following you here---the Gran Gala is also an orange-based liqueur. You mean instead of Cointreau & Gran Manier?? I am unfamiliar with Gran Gala, but I'll have to check it out on your recommendation some time.
Also, for margarita's Id rather use 1800 Silver cause it costs half as much and is just as smooth and flavorful. I think patron is over-hyped and over-priced; while its good its not really much better than the 1800..well at least in the silver.Fair enough. If the 1800 Silver is very close in most respects, I doubt one can tell a difference once mixed. Cheap tequila (dare I mention any?), on the other hand, is not what I want or use.
For sweet and sour mix, the best ive found is Bone Daddy's top shelf margarita mix. I found it at safeway and its unfiltered appearance drew me in.OK, that interests me. I'm game for buying some mix next time I go to the store. Nothing says Christmastime like a margarita, no?

I think the Top Shelf margarita is the best. This is a decent recipe, but don't use crappy tasting Sweet & Sour. I'm frankly still looking for the perfect sweet & sour mix, so I cannot recommend any in particular. Oddly enough, Chevy's restaurants makes a very good tasting Top Shelf. My advice would be to have it over the rocks, with salt, in the very LARGE glass. This recipe below is similar to what they serve:
1 1/2 oz Patron (me likey Silver) Tequila
1/2 oz Cointreau
1/2 oz Grand Marnier
1 oz Lime Juice
2 oz Sweet and Sour Mix
Try this when you are sober enough to mix it correctly. Drinks are all about proper proportions, BUT also about the quality of the ingredients!

The car has been done for a few months now. Best pass was 10.85 at 130 on 8lbs on 11.0 a/f. Waiting for next year to go to 13lbs and retune. I will get better pics when it warms up.

This is almost what I want to do. The work done looks awesome and so does the body & paint, but why the new color? Glad to see a real Z fanatic get a hold of Marcus' car. Davy

Good job on just stating the facts and not getting emotional and trashing Rebello. I do feel for ya (the tune of $6000 is a tough pill to swallow) and I hope the turbo will be everything you want it to be. You might be able to score some good turbo stuff for cheap if you are patient.
Good write-up. Maybe Santa will bring you a T66 for Christmas

I really need to get back into school. Not really sure what I would want to do though. I sure do miss it though.
Same here. I would love to go back to school and study what 'I want to study' not what 'I have to study.' If I could do it all over again, I would have:
1) Taken my time in school. Four years in & out is an elitist fad
2) Studied in areas where I actually had strengths. This would have given me much more of a sense of accomplishment and have been more useful. A Ph.D or Masters would be in the cards. I suppose I could still do that, but there are many automotive related sciences I would love to delve in. The more practical the better.
3) Had even MORE fun
I would have tried more things, played more sports, maybe worked more internships during school.4) Waited a year or two before beginning college. I could have traveled or worked for a year prior to going to college. Taking out student loans is bogus and I probably could have done it without putting myself in 5 years worth of debt after college.
5) Bought a 240Z to drive during college! I should have shot my 200SX when I had the chance. It's in a landfill now I'm sure.

Looks like he should have started the fender bulge more gradually closet to the door. There's something funny looking to me about starting 3 inches from the door. The completed car looks a little better because all the body work was complete, but it still doesn't look totally correct to me.

Interesting idea. I think shipping charges could put a huge damper on your idea. You are talking about shipping to Australia first or having your friend in Japan ship from there (more "locally") to the recipient in the US or Canada?

We were thinking of having a car port at the back instead of having the porch and having a rollup door at the back of the garage to be able to pull right through with a trailer, car etc.
Nice idea, but enclosed space is dryer! If you have the means ($$$$), a floor level sink is cool to have to clean up mops, parts, etc. Here is a photo:
In floor lighting is cool too...
Cabinets---how about a floor-to-ceiling tool box??

Sounds good, Tyson. You have taken a very reasonable approach. Hopefully he'll come through for you and you won't lose any more money than you already have. If he asks you for more money, reach out and grab his shirt pocket, than rip it off his shirt. That would answer his question. j/k

The factory used a heat shield on the 280zx (I believe)
that should work nicely there.
Ah, that's good to know---looks good on there and would solve this problem for a number of us. I like using the stock parts from other vehicles if possible and that fits nicely.

These look like Western brand "Cyclone" wheels to me. I believe Western made the Cyclones. The wheel centers are from an Appliance brand wheel. I don't think the two go together.

Just do not overload that jack! I used it on one end of my Suburban and it failed (as it should have @ ~3500 lbs). The weight limit on these jacks is the weight limit

I would do a search on this site about Showcars before ordering from them. I can't think of any people who have ordered from them and have been "satisfied," let alone have received their parts. Be afraid.

I didn't weigh the original ones or the fg pieces when I installed the but I assure you, the WAS as difference. The fg weighs much less. A pound here. A pound there. It all adds up!
I think you are correct for a serious race car like yours, but the difference between the two is negligible for most purposes. I have had both and think that weight can be managed in other areas. Deleting a radio & speakers, for example, takes a lot more weight off the car. Aluminum radiator, headers, etc, etc, all can be done to lose weight in other areas.
This is strictly my opinion, but if you remove your windshield wipers before a run, you will have more than made up for the difference in weight between the FG buckets and the steel ones.
