GOTHALOSISM
Now the issues are mostly electrical. Alternator is not charging the battery (easy to test just no time), and a wierd issue with the signal lights. When I plug a wire in the efi harness under the steering column and turn the key a relay on the passengers side buzzes and smoke starts billowing up from the combination switch. Hey at least I still have brakes and head lights! a few pics of it with my friends 73 rb25det neo swap (wish I could afford a nice paint job) and actual video of it

Hey at least I still have brakes and head lights! and actual video of it SWEEEEETTT!!! Congrats on maiden tire burning voyage! I don't have an EFI harness in mine (thankfully!). I hope I don't have any wiring issues. I hate electrical stuff! Luckily, I have a buddy that is going to help me with the harness and another one that is a programming genius! If I tried to for this myself, you could almost bet that there would be smoke signals! Congrats again. I hope mine is running by the end of June. Pretty optomistic, but we'll see. GOTHALOSISM
I'm running a standalone harness for the lt1. Looking in the FSM BE section where it shows all of the plugs and wires under the dash it would be #5. If i run a jumper wire from the WR wire to the BW wire it will allow me to turn on the blinkers. Now if I then turn the key in the ignition the relay on the passengers side (not sure what one) buzzes and smoke starts billowing out of the combo switch. Now I'm not sure why the stock datsun efi harness has to do with the flashers/turns i have no clue.
deja
Why are you even hooking up the stock efi harness? Here's a LT1 wiring doc that might be of some help. I ended up using a complete Camaro engine and chassis wiring harness to replace every 280z wire in the car and didn't have any wierd problems. GOTHALOSISM
I'm not using the stock efi harness for the lt1 just for the blinkers since they are in the same harness as the stock datsun one. Most likely i just have a short in the harness somewhere. I'm going to remove the dash any how to redo it and then I'll be able to re-connect everything with labels this time. Datsun's wiring harness was designed by someone that had no training. No color codes, connectors for no reason and poor grounding. They even switch ground on some circuits, what were they thinking. I always thought the British had bad electicals until I started working on my 280Z. When I went to the LT1 I pulled every Datsun wire out and replaced everything with the Camaro harness. I was shocked to see how much corrosion there was in almost every Datsun connector and the fuse block, and my car was really in good condition. Pulling the dash and replacing it all is a good idea.
