azimiut
I've got an 83 280z Turbo and have been asked to install a Gotech MFI unit to help control the injectors and fuel system. I have already put a AFR. built motor low compression. car has an MSD boost timing module. I need to find crank signal, I tried using crank signal from the BTM but no luck. I dont usually work on these types of cars, usually much newer cars. I also didnt build this car. I would love to start from the ground up and start over but not gonna happen. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
dexter72
How is the Gotech setup to provide spark?. Does it have its own internal module that can produce its own spark, after receiving a signal from the Dist?. Would be best to find that out. If it is set up that way or can be set up that way?. You should be able to get a signal from the distributor wires but you may also have to install an external ignitor, to provide ignition spark. You may have to go on Gotech site and get help there, It has support. Just checked the Gotech efi site. You need to check to see how the unit is jumpered, depending on which model of gotech you have. It says it is set-up per owners preference. It can be ordered to work off a dist signal or crank sensor signal. 82-83 280ZX Turbos don't have a an external crank sensor. You have to add one yourself. NewZed
The FSM should have that information and it's free for download. Look in the EL - Electrical section. http://www.xenons130.com/reference.html
dexter72
In the Forums section of this site, there is the Faq Section. Click on Components and then MS.efi. There is an MS MSS install thread. When you click on that, there is a Picture of an MS install with a turbo distributor. It has the wire colors and what each wire does. That maybe what your looking for.
