Dutchiez Posted September 23, 2011 Share Posted September 23, 2011 Well, after trolling the forum, and a few others, countless posts and pictures for months, I think I have narrowed down some options for wheels and tires. I am looking for my 1976 280z I originally thought I would run a 15x7 or 15x8 in a 0 offset wheel, but dwindling tire options for that size has pushed me to the 16" option. I do like the idea of a 16" wheel. I am looking at 16x7 (0 or +4 offset on all four, most likley a rota RB) or a staggered setup, 16x7 +4 and 16x8+10). I want a nice stance and a lip on the rim to give it a bit of dish look. I know for a more agressive deep dish look you need to go more negative on the offset, and flares. I intend to run a slight drop (1-1.25") and dont really want to mess with flares, and I will be adding a front MSA spoiler (type II). I also dont want to mess with spacers, the right offset should avoid that. The only issue with the 16x7 setup is that I think the ideal wheel for that rim would be in the 215/50/16 size, also a rare size (like the 225/50/15), and going to a 225/50/16 can cause issues with rubbing. I am leaning towards the 16x7 on all fours, but i am hanging on to the idea of some fat rubber in the back (16x8) anyone run a stagered setup without issues? for reference... 195/70/14 24.7 diameter speedo 205/60/15 = 24.7 0.3% too fast 205/55/15 = 23.9 3.5% too fast 225/50/15 = 23.9 3.6% too fast (rare size) 205/50/16 = 24 2.7% too fast 205/55/16 = 24.9 0.5% too slow 215/50/16 = 24.5 1.1% too fast (rare size) 225/50/16 = 24.9 0.4% too slow 245/45/16 = 24.7 0.3% too fast Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Fuzzydicerule Posted September 23, 2011 Share Posted September 23, 2011 Ive got konig rewinds 16x8 0's w/ 225/50/16 dunlop starspecs and my only issues rubbing are on the front framerails, i ribbed on the rear lip, bit a quick hit of the fender roller solved that. Those experiences were on tokico lowering springs, the car is currently out of commission and i cut the springs to get it lower, so i may have more clearance issues... sito Posted September 25, 2011 Share Posted September 25, 2011 Do they make 17" konig rewinds? I currently have 15" konig rewinds but I need bigger wheels... I ideally want 17's since 16" wouldn't be that much of an upgrade. I do like the rota rb'rs but I've heard bad things about rotas and especially with the bad roads here in the northeast a pot hole or two are inevitable.
