231Z
Between what R230's? The 300zxtt came with one and so did the Nissan Armada. The differences are subtle. Do a search on my R230 conversion and you'll see photos. Tyson
johnc
Pick it up. That will show you the difference.

mrcheeze36
From the diff flange and input yokes, its not a 300ZXTT R230 diff.
240zstroked
How can you tell the differences between r230 So how can you tell what gears you have.
beermanpete
So how can you tell what gears you have. 2 ways to tell the gear ratio: 1) Turn the input (pinion) shaft, counting the turns, until the output shaft turns 1 full turn. 2) Take the cover off and count the teeth on the gears. johnc
3. Read the ratio stamp on the ring gear.

NewZed
I think that's the common ratio (actually 3.538 or 3.54) for automatic or turbo 84-88 300Zxs also, with short nose R200s. And your picture looks like this one on the MM site - http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/mm_gallery.php?album=2008+March+Proto+Q45+R200+Mounting+Proven+Brian+G%2F&pic=DSCN1974.JPG - of a short nose R200. I think that the R230 is much bigger.
mrcheeze36
I think that's the common ratio (actually 3.538 or 3.54) for automatic or turbo 84-88 300Zxs also, with short nose R200s. The 84'-88' 300zx came with long nose r200 diffs. The Infiniti Q45 in the US came with a short nose R200 with a 3.54 ratio. I measured the Q45 short nose R200 and 300zxtt short nose R230, but I need to look for the info. The R230 is bigger and heavier.
NewZed
I'm not doing well on matching cars with diffs... Regardless, it looks like the short nose R200 on the MM site. Why does 240zstroked think it's an R230 is the question.

Why does 240zstroked think it's an R230 is the question. Many were calling the Q45 R200 an R230 awhile back so it's understandable...you can see this in a lot of the old threads.
