madkaw
I understand that there would be a difference in bore size, but what else would be different on the L6 blocks. I have also learned by ordering a gasket that some have all the coolant passages open and some don't. In my case with a p-30 block where I have notched the bores for bigger valves, I wonder if a l28 head gasket might not be better since the notching is very close to the fire ring-less chance of getting under the gasket. I have searched on all the Z sites and have found very little specific info on this.
duragg
I went through the same with my F54 block and N42 head. Not all passage are there and not all line up. I've heard that no one gasket will be perfect for all head / block combinations. I wanted Fel-Pro for some reason and just used what they gave me and it has been fine so far. I am sure the smarter people know more details on this and why I screwed up some how... Tj
NewZed
I've read the threads on cooling and my take was that you should use the head gasket that matches the block. Since the water flows from the block to the head, it makes sense. If there's a hole in the head, but none in the block to feed it, it doesn't really matter if the gasket matches the head. Have you considered a copper gasket? You could modify it yourself for your bore notches, plus they appear to be reusable. The prices seem in the ball park of the Nissan gasket. See the bottom of Page 1, although the whole thread is interesting - http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/97135-copper-l28-head-gaskets/page__pid__914021#entry914021
