dat240zg
This is probably a really stupid question, but here I go. In trying to track down a injector wiring problem, I'm going through my harness and seeing lots of excess wire length (it's just doubled back on itself in the harness). Is there any reason to not go through and shorten the wires down to the length that works best for the Z? Will shortening the wires by removing the extra length and then connecting them back together weaken the electrical signal? I'd like to neaten up the harness, but don't want to get myself in a worse position than I already am. Thanks in advance for your thoughts. BluDestiny
Every time you shorten a wire, you will create a physically weak spot in the wire. It could separate from a car that is too stiff etc. Also there is a human error factor. If wiring ain't your thing I would not mess with it
GOTHALOSISM
I ended up getting a custom standalone one made for me with brand new plugs and a nice fuse block... http://www.ebay.com/itm/94-97-LT1-Standalone-Wiring-Harness-4L60E-/180785272632?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item2a17a45738 I got mine off of CL for $200 with a modded ECU with Vats removed, and a performance tune. wheelman
Dat240ZG, Go for it man!!!! I did this very thing to my wiring harness 5 years ago and have had absolutely no problems with it. Just solder the wires back together where you cut them to remove the extra length, do 1 wire at a time and you'll be fine.
