fastzcars
Hello all! I just found out that Irwindale speedway is closing it's door's as of today! One of the last southern California's drag strips. The only one left is Fontana, and they don't have a test and tune night like Irwindale did! Man I hope someone one step's up and takes over the venue! It would be a shame to let this happen!!!! It's very sad day today for me! texis30O
Sounds like a mis-management of financials.
RB26powered74zcar
Bummer! I grew up listening to the roar bounce off our back yard mountains ( Monrovia ). It was so nice to have a strip like Irwindale Raceway so close. It's sad, but a fact of life, drag strips are quickly dying out. I'm glad I had the opportunity to grow up in the good ol days. Tony D
Perris Auto Speedway was doing it for a while... And only 5 miles from starting line to my front door...almost pushin' distance if it wasn't all uphill!!!
Turbo Meister
And this Thursday was my first opportunity, in a while, to get some runs in. In order to run at Fontana's Street Legal races I would have to slow the Z down to only run 10 seconds, flat. "BORING"!!!!!! Maybe the Irwindale shutdown is only temporary,,,,,
johnc
Did anyone notice the new 1/8th mile speed record set yesterday at the Winternationals? 288 mph! Zero to 288 in 660 feet (2.20 football fields!) That's staggering.

No doubt Joel......I get moved out here to enjoy the Car Culture and they are closing them down at several venues.....even the open forum types-( Super Car Sundays gets banned all the time and has to move). I hope this trend doesn't get any traction.-(pun intended).
