cockerstar
I came across this listing on craigslist, and thought I would share it with you guys. I'm not a fan of the look, but it's a lot better than I expected it to be! Let me know if the pics aren't working, because I just pulled the code from facebook rather than hosting them myself. http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/cto/2848859925.html http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150684861930239.447483.145762495238&type=1 Edited March 5, 2012 by cockerstar
zero
As always, more power to someone building something they love, but I gotta say that detail under the light wrapping around looks unfinished.
Nelsonian
I like the thinking out of the box approach, but the body work seems at odds with the lights shape, especially in the area where it meets the bumper. Straight on view shows gaps.
cockerstar
According to the current owner, he didn't do any of the work himself, but has the car in his shop as some payment of debt. He came up with the design for the project, but didn't carry out any of the work, and makes no claims of this being anywhere close to a finished product. I do like the concept though! I bet an experienced body man could do the install properly and pull it off, especially with that front bumper.
zero
This actually reminded me of another headlight conversion I saw. Z32 with celica headlights. I really liked this one.
roger280zx
The z32 is a good example of someone who knows what there doing adapting a light that compliments the lines of the car. An "update" if you will. The s130 is a good exaple of what happens when you give someone with less than average taste a hammer and some bondo. I know the s130 is not for everyone in the first place, (even though I happen to love them) but this just seem like a crude attempt at an update. I'm sure the conversation went something like this: "How can we make this old Datsun look new again"..."I fount some new Z lights on ebay, lets chop the roof off and update the lights". Nelsonian
I'd have to agree on the z32 application, though not perfect(nit picking), a very nice job indeed.
rnye
Um... The S130 pictured has Celica headlights just like the MR2 below it..

zero
Um... The S130 pictured has Celica headlights just like the MR2 below it.. I think you're right, they're both Celica lights, but the black one is a Z32 300zx.
rnye
I think you're right, they're both Celica lights, but the black one is a Z32 300zx. Yea it is.. I barely looked at it - that body kit is disgusting!! Celica headlights are a very popular headlight conversion - 2G MR2s look nice with them. KnightoftheRound
I think both look pretty awful. They don't suit either car at all.
