8DC
Looking at replacing a cracked head. What do I need (which gasket, etc.) to run this rebuilt P90 head, naturally aspirated, on my stock '76 280Z (N42 block, dished pistons): http://datsunpartsllc.com/cart/index.php?p=product&id=60&parent=0 ...and if anyone has run this combo NA, how noticeable will the reduced 7.3CR be compared to the stock N42? What issues will I be looking at if I run this NA while I collect the parts needed for the turbo setup? Thanks!
BluDestiny
It will feel slow(er) than it is from the lower compression and the P90 cam. I believe the P90 cam isn't that aggressive. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/cam/index.htm Get the head gasket to match the block Also don't buy from him, supposedly he sells not the best parts. Find one in a junkyard, or buy one from a member and bring it to a machine shop. This guy bought a block from him and found dirt and overspray http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/105900-the-stroker-chronicles/
luseboy
You could always put your current cam and rocker arms in a P90 head. I don't know about the difference the CR will make, but as I understand, it will be a fairly noticeable difference. However the P90 does have bigger valves and will flow a little better. I still think the CR will make a bigger difference though. And stay far, far away from datsun parts llc. Not only did the guy mentioned above find dirt and overspray on his block, but there's another guy who bought a rebuilt car from Al that was apparently his DD that he rebuilt with all new NOS parts, however the car had a lot of problems and was built very poorly. There was also a lot of body filler covering up the results of a front and rear end collision, which the buyer was not made aware of. You may find yourself a good running full on turbo engine for $500. I bought a good longblock 280zx N/A engine for $100... there's all sorts of deals like that out there.
