Getting the L26 EFI ready?

Recommended Posts

Already began ordering parts to megasquirt my 260z. The plan was to convert the L26 to EFI while learning the ins and outs of megasquirt and then eventually swapping an L28et into the car.

What I hadnt realized is that the E88 head on the L26 lacks the injector notches that are cast into the newer heads?

Is there anyway around this issue? What would be the easiest or best way to solve this?

Find a head off a fuel injected Z I would go for P79/P90 but I'm not entirely sure where that would put compression. An N47 would probably be fine if you aren't looking to make a lot of power at first, but a P90/L26ET could be cool B)

Cut the notches into the head with a die grinder. Mark the locations of the ports using a FI intake/exhaust gasket. Stuff a soft cloth into each intake and exhaust port to block chips and debris. Cut out the notches. Vacuum out the chips. Remove the cloth.
