Kuro Posted September 11, 2012 Share Posted September 11, 2012 (edited) My coil is out of spec and I was looking to replace it, problem is I don't know if I can buy coil with an internal resistor? I had this resistor sitting on the bracket inline with the coil (sorry old photo before it broke off). Everything I read says I don't need a ballast resistor but I haven't seen anything about this resistor on a 78. FSM doesn't show it either. Now knowing what it is I found this: The condenser on the coil is connected to the positive side and is used to suppress noise that will interfere with radio reception and such.
