Ptero
Car: '73 240z Front turn signals work but the rears don't and the hazards work on all 4 corners. I've tested the switch and it appears to be functioning fine. I tested the bulb socket and they're getting no power when turn signals are activated. Would the front turn signals still work if the flasher is faulty? Also, some say the flasher is on the drivers side by your feet and other say it's under the dash. Are there multiple flashers for the turn signals? I know the turn signals go through the hazard switch but how do I remove the hazard switch to test the wires? Does the dash need to be off? Any guidance would be appreciated. Edit: Replaced the flasher from the drivers side foot area, no change. jhm
Most common problem here is the ground. Rear lights have one or more grounds to the body near the taillight panel. Check them all. I've also had problems with the power leads failing. My fix was to run new wires for the hot leads. (40-year old wiring can be very unreliable.) Good luck. z240
Hazard switch for sure. Contact set in hazard sw that pass thru to the rear TS when hazards are not on (G and GY pairs) are bad. Hazard switch pull knob (73 specific) removal is push and turn to remove I believe. Then you have a nut to spin off with a pin/awl type tool. You can get your hand up behind to disconnect the two connectors that are attached. Straight from below the switch. Hazard flasher and TS flasher are separate. Switch can be disassembled and contacts cleaned. You can do it! Worst comes to worst, I have a spare....
