adam78280z
I have this 3" piping carefully placed behind the rad fan and in front of head etc. I want to weld the pipe together rather than deal with a coupler/clamps so close to the fan. I'm concerned about the engine rocking on the mounts and whether I have enough give in the 2 90's (one on turbo and one on I/C) Thoughts/ opinions would be awesome! akeboshi
Weld it buddy. I want to weld all mine up but can't weld aluminum.
Tony D
Use Hump Hose connectors, they will allow for movement. Same as the hump hose on the stock NA TB hose. Search on "Hump Hose" and you will know how it works.
SleeperZ
Movement needs to be accommodated somewhere, and a hump coupler would work well in that location. If it's welded, you will have to allow for even more flexibility at the intercooler.
adam78280z
I've seen the double hump connections and have them on my 12v diesel. Just not sure if the humps with clear the fan in that particular spot. I guess I could try and move the connection more towards the fender and away from the fan, just more fitting and welding lol. I was hoping that the engine wouldn't move much and I wouldn't have to worry about it but sounds like i'll need some more flex.
letitsnow
I've been fine with 2 silicone 90's and a solid pipe of a similar config, the 90's have a lot of give to them.
Snailed
Having three connectors on that tube is more expensive and less reliable in my opinion. Weld it. If your engine moves enough that the 90 degree silicon connecters can't absorb it, you need new mounts. Plus, it just looks ghetto like that
