warrenp
it's been a long time, since i have been on... my 86 300z has been sitting since 02!! i have been gathering parts! i have several t5 transmission's, 2 world calss t5's! what are you guys using for tail shafts? so that the shifter is is the correct location? i also have 2 GM 6.0L truck engines, with full harness 364 ci! i'm thinking one of these should give the ol' Z car some power she will need to roast a vette? anyone ever done such a swap? this is going to be a long term project! probably will not be done over the winter.. any info is greatly appreciated! michaelp
If you're using a T5, swap bellhousing and input shafts into a 84-86 Z31 Turbo T5 and you'll be able to use a Z31 trans mount, driveshaft and shifter location.
warrenp
thats what i was thinking, just was not sure if the parts would interchange form a (non world class) to a worls class transmission.
Calico
Id have to ask what year and series 6.0 your using? If its from the lsx series you might need an adapter to mate the t5 behind the lq4. Id look for an t56 or 4l60/4l80 from a later model car/truck. Good luck, cochise.
aveloz
All chevy v8's have the same bell housing bolt pattern since 1955. i put a old school 4 speed behind my 2002 5.3 lm7, it bolted up perfect! i just used an after market hydraulic slave and master cylinder clutch from southwest speed , i believe they also have the kit for a t5 tranny. they come with spacers for the slave so its guaranteed to fit right.
