lazer5000
I recently acquired this head and figured I would use it on my L28 build but it has no provisions for EFI. Is this common for an N42? I thought they all had the EFI mountings. Question is this; should I try to trade this thing off for an EFI turbo head? Because it looks like a hell of a lot of machine work to cut the injector slots i it. Maybe the mods would be worth it because the rest of the head looks machine shop fresh. Thanks, Ryan
Tony D
Yes very common. I have four, at least. There is a guy posting on Facebook now with one as well. N42 was "EFI" only in the USA in 75-79. Everywhere else in the world they had a two barrel!
lazer5000
Interesting. Everything else about it (chamber volume, valve diameter, etc.) is the same? Maybe it would be easier to modify the intake than the head for injectors.
Xnke
You'd have to drill the EFI bolt holes, as well as the injector clearance notches.
lazer5000
Yeah that kind of sucks. Might be best off getting another head. Shame because this one is nice.
Tony D
So I take it you are planning on the stock EFI manifold being used? Nothing wrong with putting injectors in a carb manifold and running it... Hell, Nissan was running JECS EFI in 71, and they didn't have injector cutouts... They injected up the manifold, for PERFORMANCE , not at the back of the valve head for Emissions...
lazer5000
I had toyed with the idea of modifying the carb manifolds in that way. Then I could either turn the carbs into throttle bodies, or build a bolt on plenum. I am planning a mostly stock efi turbo build up. Rather mild.
