ibfunru
Ok, guys....used to have a 280 for 12 years when I was in the service......got the bug again so just picked up a 77 with 4 speed...basic stock engine reubild done 5 years ago with 2,000 miles since....68000 mile car.......I like the sound of an idling cam and to cruise town in the 2200 rpm range for nice resonance....ill never be a racer --- mid 40's guy but mostly want the pretty sound.... also bought an old 240 and it has a header that has two sets of long tube 3 pipes each going into a separate collector and can continue as duals.....it has an e31 head could/hould I consider using it?....I mostly would like to since the car was one of the first 13000 ever made.....Any Thoughts greatly appreciated ! ....retired submariner
BluDestiny
So if I understand this is going into the 280z, and the 240z is a parts car correct? The 280z efi will not be happy with a too big of a cam, so that is your biggest limitation. Now if you go with carbs you can definitely get the sound you want. Leon
I don't understand changing cams just to get a sound. I bet you'd be satisfied with a header and duals. My Z has a stock cam, triples, header, and dual pipes:

You're on the wrong site. We're not about pretty sound or cruising.
