bullz
So I'm FINALLY getting around to starting a thread for my S130. I bought the car when I was 15, back in year 10 of high school. My initial plans were to go with a completely original car but as we can all see that didn't really happen. I bought it as a rolling shell, fairly rusty with all the under-dash wiring chopped to pieces by some previous owner *******. I'm also going to admit right here that I'm not a fan of EFI, I hate wiring and emissions shit running everywhere in my engine bay, so that's why I eventually went for carbs. So blah blah blah, I worked on the car for about three and a half years. First engine I bought was from an MQ Patrol, L28 with a single two barrel carb, couldn't fit it under the bonnet so I bought a set of twin SU's. Bolted them on, once we fitted the engine we discovered that it had a ridiculously huge cam which made it stupid to drive on the road, anything slower than 20kmh in first made it jerk. As you can see it had 260Z rear lights, that was due to the fact that when I bought the shell, someone had broken both rear lights and I happened to have a set of 260z lights hanging around... it took a bit of modification but I liked the look of them.So after about a year of that engine, somehow a hose clamp got into the 5th and 6th bore and tore some shit up, needless to say the engine was rooted. So I bought an L27 with a decent amount of work done to it, triple dellortos, electronic dizzy, cam, lightened flywheel, port and flowed. It definitely gets up and goes, does 0 - 100 in about 6.7 seconds. So once that was all done I set my sights on aesthetics. I really wanted a bobtail wing on it because I hadn't seen many 280ZX's out there with them, so I modified a 240z 2 seater wing to fit onto the back, it was surprisingly a pretty decent fit to begin with.I didn't like rocking stockies so I got on to finding some decent wheels for it. Initially I was going to go Rotas (Out of the frying pan and into the fire, young and dumb etc etc) but I found a guy selling sets of steelies for $400 with 0 offset. So I bought pair of 8J and 10J and chose my tyres sizes but the local store wouldn't fit them due to 'illegal sizing' so I did it myself with hairspray and a lighter. Since then, a lot has changed. S13 rear coils, front struts are cut and shut with 9kg springs and VW shocks. Consequently it's gone lower, now runs a Brisbane made front lip, debadged hood, perspex intake vent cover to stop water dripping into the stacks, US fender mirrors, 4 seater skirts, slight roll on the rear guards, 15x7.5 -37 and 15x10 -44 SSR XR4 longchamps, universal rear slit underspoiler, EVA 86 rear limited edition wing, C110 rear tail light panel and lights, exhaust is a 2.25 inch system, genie headers, just getting around to aftermarket cat. It's been my daily for a long time now, year and a half I've dealt with 5km/L and no defogging system or heater/air con of any kind. Makes you appreciate normal cars a lot more haha. Bonus points, went through a period of having to run 235/65-15's on the rear and 205/65-15's on the front to clear a defect for being too low (welcome to Australia where everyone is STILL a criminal). Anyway, here is what it looks like now. Went out to a local jap meet with a mate and his SA22C so excuse his presence in most of the photos. BluDestiny
Sweet. Man if I hadn't crashed my 2+2 I'd still be rocking it.
