tamo3
Hi, I just got GC coilover kit for my 280z. When I unpacked, I soon realize the sleeves size is only 4". I thought the sleeve length supposed to be 5". Does anyone know whether this is right one?
tamo3
I talked to Ground Control Trevor, and he told me 4" is the right size for 280z coilover kit. Sleeve ID is about 2-3/16" welding ring ID is about 2-1/4" Top hat size height is about 3/4"

tamo3
Hi Jason, Thank you for your confirmation! Did you install onto 280z? What shock did you use?
Jasonmreiss
I bought the illuminas so I could section the struts. I haven't done it yet though as I am doing a complete resto mod thing. I imagine though I'll have to measure really well because that short sleeve doesn't leave much room for error
tamo3
yap. I ask GC to exchange 12" spring to 10" spring since I read this. forums.hybridz.org/topic/85673-ground-control-coilover-installation-instructions/ My plan is using 4" sleeve with 10" springs 250lbs/275lbs. Weld the ring 5.25" front, 8.25" rear. However, once I use camber plate, the measurement will be changed. I try to figure out how much strut tube I should cut off for both case using original strut insulator and Techno Toy camber plate.
280zzzzz
Aug76/280 - sectioned struts - 8710 Konis - Ground Control CoilOvers - Trevor? - Question about front strut assembly; the literature included shows the GC aluminum upper spring seat installed against stock upper mount (without bearing) when bearing is installed, the aluminum spring seat binds against the rubber on the upper mount (preventing rotation). What am I doing wrong? Is a spacer required between bearing and upper mount? Modify mount? Any comments / assistance will be appreciated. SUNNY Z
the smaller strut tubes (240z) came with the 6" sleeves.
